In addition to the already mentioned "add-on" problem there's another, really big issue: the servers. Currently there are megaservers for PC, XBox and Playstation and all of those servers are having very often problems. With only one server it will be most probably unplayable.

I wonder how that would affect the economy. Vastly different prices between both platforms.

Consoles yes, pc no. It would destroy consoles economy. And addons influence the PC economy to much. Not to mention the influence of better hardware etc.

But console to console crossplay would be nice.

Give accounts a different icon for console or pc and good to go. I'll choose who to play with, its not that difficult seeing the ***-ton of trial discords I already have to browse through.

It can be done FF14 have crossplay. The only requirement is adapting Sonys - no addons policy. This is the reason Im on PS, I like Sonys way handling this.

Another MMO title I can mention is War Thunder by Gaijin, who have crossplay on PS, PC and Xbox one.

It would depend where, I suppose.

On PC EU, they don't ask for specific classes for vet-pug. Only for the achievement.

It's really difficult to enable a full crossplay on a game like ESO, specially when PC has addons, PTS, and it's first to receive updates and fixes.

It would be a very good thing to enable crossplay between consoles tho (PS4/5 + XB1/XSeries), as they are always "the same game" with "the same stuff".

And of course, make it an in game option.

There are lots of issues that need to be solved before cross-play is possible:
Would Sony allow it on PS4 and 5?
Is is technically possible for them to merge 6 servers into 2 servers?
Also PC and console often don’t get patches and maintenance on the same day, so they will need to change the way they do these.
These are some examples. They can’t just “enable” it. It can’t be that easy.

Due to having addon pc gain an advantage wich cant exist if we are to play together and i beleive pc player would prefer keeping their addon than joining the crossplay party

As for the duplicate name this is how i would do it
1. 1-2 months before the crossplay goes live. Warn every player trough every socialmedia avaiable: email attatch to their account, twitter, facebook,etc that every character that did not loggin for a year will see its name changed to
(insert charactername)_(insert current server) that way no one loose name to inactive player and can be solve by simply logging in within the 1,-2 month

2. Character created first will keep the name over character created recently

3. Distribute free name change token equal to the number of name changed a player as

Destiny 2 linched cross progression a year or so ago wich enable you to switch from a platform to another at will and not loose progress and rummors says that there is plan for crossplay

In the long term ZOS have to enable crossplay just to survive no way around it. It can be between PS ans Xbox or all three platforms, the step have to be taken.

Eventhough we play the same title on different platforms (PS/Xbox and PC), we don´t play the same game.

It would be terrible. Most consoles are so inferior to PC's they are "slide show" machines in many places. Especially in Cyrodil during combat. 10 FPS on a console VS 150 FPS on a PC. Yeah, that would work well.
