Well this is what the notes say.

Reduced the amount of item durability loss while in group combat situations (such as dungeons.)

I would assume that's some level of address on the situation.

Seems they are only really addressing part of the issue.

Yeah, as Babylon pointed out, this is something that happens in solo gameplay, I'm not sure if it also occurs in groups, though I think it does.

No idea what you guys are doing

On my L16 character with the over 1000 gold repair bill, I was killing things and hardly getting hit, for just over 30 minutes. No deaths. I'd just stopped to train my resto staff after getting weapon swap.

So that's around 30 minutes, L16 character, barely getting hit, no deaths, 1000 gold repair bill.

What exactly *should* I have done differently to invoke your experience of the game?

Are you certain your items were fully repaired? Can you reproduce this?

I've observed a similar degree of deterioration on one of my characters, with an addoon installed so I could track gear deterioration carefully.

Oh, come on. A mod comes in here, edits the first post to remove "WTF" from the title, but they still won't tell us if this is intended behavior or not? What the hell!?

But there is one thought from reading these threads, on the whole people who craft have less of a problem, while people who rely more on dropped armour tend to have more of a problem, so perhaps following real world logic, a set of custom fitted armour made by yourself for yourself has more durability than armour dropped by others, given its in implied it’s not specifically made for you and could be what is considered “used”

I think a lot of players would be crafting new armor every couple of levels or using drops. No dropped armor doesn't have less durability than what you craft.

My worry is more on the higher level when I have high level gear, repair costs are going to multiply. And to just replace high level gear is not always an option, even with crafting as it can get costly as you could break your armor in the process.

I think they should allow players to use extra material and repair their own armor. If I can craft if, why do I need to have any merchant repair if for me?

TO EVERYONE WHO THINKS IT'S OVERPRICED:
Stop deconstructing all the white crap gear you get and start selling it... problem solved...

Yes, because, "screw you guys that actually want to be able to craft above level 15, don't you know 'play how you want' really means 'tether yourself to a merchant every 15 minutes?'"

EDIT: Fact is, it won't really help. I tried it, and I still ended up losing gold.

kk, well I have 255k on my VR3 main by:
    1) replacing old, low level armor with higher level armor instead of repairing.
    2) doing quests instead of grinding to level
    3) selling my whites (I still have all crafts at lv.40+)

So if it works for me and doesn't work for you, it sounds like your doing something wrong.

Look, I'm sorry, I get that as oppositional as that sounded you were... probably, trying to help. Money isn't the immediate issue, it's a side effect. Right now, gear deteriorates at a horrific rate. It breaks down from 100% to 0% in a couple hours. Dying will actually do less damage to your armor than killing four or five mobs. That's not even an exaggeration, in my experience. This has a knock on effect of absolutely ludicrous repair costs, because gear is getting slagged like it's System Shock 2 all over again.

Just to comment on some other post instead of making my own:

Armor degradation is really pissing me off. Game for an hour or two, and you could EASILY be at 50%, which means your dying more often, etc, etc.

So it's either take up more inventory space with repair kits that cost a fortune, or quit adventuring to find a merchant. End result, you stop enjoying your adventure and have to take care of more admin.

Armor repair? Not a problem to me. But the performance hit? THAT is what is ticking me off.

Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.
