Simple.
1) Don't stand in void zones (red circle, cone, rectangle)
2) Use block against special (red glowing) and power (yellow glowing) attacks
3) Use interrupt when enemy is casting (by default RMB+LMB)
4) Use CC to kite melees
5) Don't forget about food and potions
OP...you are right.
the game Solo-Boss missions can NOT be done at same level with a pure-caster build depending only on the caster skill lines.
That is why all the posters suggest different approaches that include a mixed bag of several..if not many...skill lines.
Hence your statement that the solo level of the bosses is to difficult (from your point of view) is correct.
Be assured that all those who deny this have been either defeated many times (which means they lost the game many times) or have out-leveled the solo-boss quests by several levels.
Yes, I acknowledge that there are exceptional players who got lucky and actually did one or two boss solo quests at even level. They however are in the minority.
However, you are not right in quitting the game over this. Do like the rest of us and try a different build because the pure-caster builds really.... you know what I mean.
Good luck.

My friend and I play this game together and it's incredibly frustrating that we built a strategy off of each other (he's the templar tank who absorbs damage and deals a good deal of damage--I'm the storm caller mage who stays at a distance to deal tons of damage and hope the enemy doesn't come after me) and then are forced to play the game solo for boss battles that are ridiculously hard for me.
I CANNOT progress in the main story line right now because I'm trying to kill Aldimion in the cellar in Daggerfall and keep dying. This is about 8 times now that I've died, and most of those times I was only halfway to killing him because my mana depleted too fast and he was doing too much damage. I used my mana/health potions that have far too long of a cooldown to be helpful, I used my shields strategically (when I had the mana to) to try to minimize damage, I tried eating food that exponentially improved my mana or health. I just cannot beat this boss, and it's entirely because I'm not allowed to get any outside help from ANYBODY. On an MMORPG.
At this point, I don't plan on renewing my subscription based on this. If I can't beat the main story quests and progress, why pay for the frustration?

Give us bosses that you need to use the strategy of your class to kill but not one that 3 hits you and causes you to be stalled in your main story quest line.

Sorcerers have a very clear disadvantage against enemies like Lyris Doppleganger. I am a level 38 Breton Vampire and a Sorcerer. I am unable to advance in the main story because this "level 30" quest feels like a level 40 quest.
By the time I can beat it, I will get 0xp and 0 loot from the boss. I will still get exp and stuff for completing the quest, but the boss won't give me loot or exp. This is a penalty, a punishment.
You guys have no idea what boss he's talking about, and the fact that he is immune to EVERY cc, and hits with basic attack for approx 40% of hp-stacked player at that level?
And the fact it's meant to be unbeatable as a "punishment" for not taking Persuade trait, and having to take long dialogue option?
Also you seem oblivious to the fact that this boss is NOT meant to be killed, but rather force player to surrender, becasue the quest is COMPLETED when the player dies?
Now, any more smart "omg your build sucks" comments?
Just avoid aoe attack and block heavy attacks. With that you can do any solo thing without problem even with lvl 1 pet.

You just make it sound so easy.
However it isn't. With this boss, the damage it deals you/pets kills in 2 hits. The hardest I can hit it for is about 150, and it has some 7900hp. It auto hits and stuns and seems to teleport right up to me. There are also a lot of trash and clutter objects in the room to get stuck on, not to mention my companion who just twaddles her hair and fingers.
Then my Resto/Destro Staves (and even Bow) have a strange way of auto-retarget the boss instead of the healing orbs. I run behind the boss, face the orb, confirm it is highlighted in red, then my attack hits the boss or "misses" (somehow). My mana also doesn't seem to last very long against it.
This is a terrible boss for a sorcerer. Every thread I have seen complaining about Lyris Doppleganger was made by a Sorcerer. Everyone else seems to perform just fine against it. Yet as a sorc, there doesn't seem to be anything I can do that will help. Did I mention I am level 38, and the boss is "level 30".
