So I login for the first time all day today, what with work and all, and the very first quest I do is smothered with bots. A new kind of bot I have yet to encounter.

Basically, here's what the bots are doing:

Accepting the quest, then somehow teleporting to each quest marker to interact with the quest object.

I sat in one building for half an hour, and it was a steady stream of level 2 bots in soul shriven gear teleporting around. I have to assume this quest has no killing required, just intractable objects for this to be possible.

I have to assume the bots are doing this for the quest reward gold to sell.

I would not be surprised if I got banned for the sheer number of bot reports I sent in.

Between botnets running around killing all the creatures that drop gold, bots in dungeons, and now this, the game is pretty much unplayable at this point. Logged in around 9:15, out around 9:45, literally all I did was report bots.

This happened at Edrald Estate, doing the quest A Change of Heart.

Jup they stopped botting caves mostly, becasue they've found 3 new ways of doing it without anyone bothering them.

1. No-combat quests, they just teleport to coords, use item and go on. After they finished all quests, they mail gold to other toon, delete themselves and start over ad infinitum.

2. Bots that sit in AD Vukhel Guard bank doing chest relog exploit, mailing stuff.

3. Teleproting around taking food from palates and selling it to a vendor.

Low profile, most of them are invisible.

i look at it like this, eso is doing a great job interfering with the dungeon bots so that they are now forced to find other ways to gold farm. Soon the devs will close these latest loopholes. in the meantime i report the questing bots as I go

@Dekkameron‌ I would be careful about posting images with "players" "names" in them, I believe that falls under the ToS as Naming and Shaming....

As an addendum I absolutely abhor the bots plaguing the game....

They have also been sighted, repeatedly, up in Coldharbour - at level 3, doing the Library of Dusk quest. Reported what I could, but damned if I am going to sit there for an hour reporting every single one of the *** as they teleport around and new names keep cycling through.

Report the bots in or near banks. frtsfe is easy to spot. If enough players report these easy to spot bots then something will be done by Z-M.

However... i encountered some bots in the wild that looked almost like someone was behind the wheel. They were wearing armor and had weapons and even somewhat valid names.

The only reason I recognized them as bots:
1) they ran way-points (sort of jerky movement with stopping every ten inches).
2) a player will not run to a node spawn point unless there has something spawned, these Bots do.
3) These Bots stand still and do not defend when being attacked by NPC critters.

how to report? Target the Bot - press the 'F' key and the radial menu comes up - go to report player and report. Once you have targeted the bot and got the menu up it does not matter if the bot disappeared for the name is already recorded.

I do so all the time and have not been banned as yet. jfsxe watch out. if I see you, you are being reported.

They were wearing armor and had weapons and even somewhat valid names.

One of the bot engines leaked to certain warez sites, so normal players are getting hold of it. Also, there is a rising tendency for a legit player having multibox "pal" botting on his back, helping him playing (I also suspect some of them are powerleveling services, trying to make it in legit and non-visible way), so no xp explots.

I saw something else new today as well. A bunch of bots setup in node linked node areas. 1-2 per node. As soon as one plant is picked, another instantly respawns because they have bots at every node. So it's picked instantly.

Basically they sit there with a never ending supply of jute because of it. I managed to steal a few picks from them but i had to sit there and mash my E button to do it.

Sneaky little rats.

This is exactly right. Hopefully they can be driven out.

Runescape sued their bot factories and I am sure there some issues still linger in that MMO, however they won their lawsuit against the botters and gold sellers. I wish Zenimax would do the same.

Also, this industry of RMT is a global, untaxed and unregulatd industry that needs serious attention from governments. There are 2 ways to achieve this. The first is Common Law; as judges in court rule cases. The second is with legislation. I prefer action on both tiers.

Simple solution get rid of trading and mailing gifts - no loot... no money
if people can't gift or trade loot unethically(and against TOS) gotten then the bots end

go after the bot sellers too

put protection on the characters so no scripting except licensed and approved addon's from developers - which means getting checked by ZM before it can be added in

if you can't mod your character with unapproved apps or addins and can't get junk from retailers other than thru ZM store then the bots end

We shall see, however there's lots of these threads now open so the problem and it's priority will be highlighted. With more of them ZOS will be embarrassed & get into action over this

Yeah I know many of us have stopped our subscriptions from being taken for the first month payment due to the amount of stuff they've yet to fix and the out of control bot problem, which they are having to deal with.

All of this is made worse with the lack of communication from Zenimax itself. Things will only get worse and unfortunately I did believe that ESO would never go Free 2 Play, but judging by the reacts of people ingame, on these forums and elsehwere, it's pretty obvious we will see the game go Free 2 Play within the next 2 to 3 months and of course Zenimax will lay off a lot of people in their European office in Ireland, so anyone working there and who is reading there ... you better start looking for another job soon!

Note: I just random generated that name using the keyboard with a blindfold. Any toon that does have that name then I apologise as this is purely coincidence. With the amount of bots though I wouldn't be suprised!!!

Some aspects of the game are easily exploitable and those scripted exploits demonstrate it. In this case, it's even more wrong as they use hacks in addition.
