What is the fastest way to gain rank in pvp?

I've been playing my nightblade for a long while in Bgs and currently i am rank 31. Out of sheer curiosity, what is the fastest way to go up in rank to lvl 50? Do events like mid year Maham somehow contribute to going up in rank faster?

The amount of points required to reach each rank multiplies considerably as they go. If you're at 30, the other 20 are going to take tens of millions. I've been doing most of my PvP in Cyrodiil with my Main only at 38, and that's a culmination of years. Then again I'm not spending every waking hour in Cyrodiil either.

Everyone knows the common Exploitative method to gain AP. Don't be that player.

The fastest intended method is to either keep farming Battlegrounds, or play in Cyrodiil and try to read the map, be a part of major Keep defends. Larger sieges that are repelled payout large sums. Playing during Midyear Mayhem, (if you can manage to get into a Camp and not lag to death) is a serious boon.

They've also datamined new Crown Scrolls that boost AP gain.

I think I read that level 40 is halfway ,( AP points wise ).

There really isn't a quick way.

The crown scrolls for AP gain towards alliance rank onlyare in the announcement for crown store items in June on the eso website. They will be released or available at 3pm on June 24th

edited for clarity as other posters noted as well; the torte and scrolls do not effect the ap currency or leaderboard ranking

I'm fairly certain that these only help you level up the Alliance War Skill lines, but do not actually increase the amount of AP you earn.

That being said, if you're playing in Cyrodiil, make sure that you're keeping your Delve Buff up at all times. Simply enter any delve and kill a delve boss and you're good to go for an hour. I believe that it's a 20% increase to AP earned for an hour.

It doesn't increase AP gain nor leaderboard position, but it does increase alliance skill rank and alliance AP level.

It will take you 60,838,400 AP to reach Grand Overlord rank 1 without 50% bonus Colovian War Tortes. If you have one active at all times, however, it only takes 40,579,213 AP to reach Grand Overlord.

You don't gain more AP with them, you simply need less AP to achieve the Alliance War skills, skill points, titles, dyes, and furnishings.

Try using the corrct wording then instead of trying to confuse people about "AP level." AP level is unaffected by tortes, in any fashion.

Go repair a wall. If you get 100 AP for using one kit, and then eat a torte and use another kit, you will get exactly 100 AP for that kit as well.

Perhaps if people were actually precise in their language, there wouldn't be perpetual confusion about the fact that the war torte do increase your Alliance Rank all the way to 50.

Without any war torte buff, yes, the amount of AP you earn and the amount of points towards your Alliance Rank are the same.

The war tortes increase the Alliance Rank points by the percentages indicated, so you can level up your Alliance Rank quicker while using them.

The war tortes do NOT increase the amount of Alliance Points (the currency) that you earn while using them.

Killing with minimal other people around, especially if you own all the resources = big $$$ = ranking up quicker.

Press L (or whatever is used for console) and hover the mouse over the bar. Rank points are what determines your Alliance War rank. This number gain can be increased by 50%, 100%, or 150% by player sourced tortes. The new scrolls will do the same thing, only you buy them with crowns.

The tortes and scroll, however, will not increase your Alliance Points gain by any amount. Alliance Points are a spendable currency, and the amount of currency earned during the campaign determines your place on the leaderboards. Neither of those things are affected by tortes or scrolls. When you use tortes, Alliance Rank and Alliance Points are gained at different rates, with Alliance Points being unaffected.

For example, if you use a single repair kit on a wall and your AP goes up 100, your AR will go up 100 as well. However, if you eat a 50% gain torte and repair again, your AP will still go up 100, but your AR will go up 150. The benefit is that it takes less time to raise the Alliance War skills, earn the 50 skill points, and the dyes, titles, and furnishings.

Wow, to be honest i had no idea that alliance rank wasnt in sync with alliance points. I could have gotten 50% more alliance rank points by using the torte in Battlegrounds to then? Thank you a lot for explaning this @Jaraal <3
Not 50% more AP. Instead it’s that your alliance rank advances 50% faster. It’s a subtle difference that clearly has caused tons of confusion. But if the goal is to rank up, this cuts the time it take by 1/3 when you keep the buff up.

I tried to see if the 100% torte was for sale but I couldn't find any. I guess one needs the recipe and make it yourself?

The recipe sells for 7-8 million gold on PC/NA.

To make the recipe, you'll need the Regular Colovian War Torte recipe (rare, but available in guild traders for 1-2 million), plus an upgrade item that costs half a million tel var. Then, to make the actual food, you'll need to buy an ingredient that costs 100,000 tel var for four servings, if you have the Chef passive. And the 150% recipe and the food ingredient are far rarer still. But ZOS will take the pain away with Crown Store alternatives very soon! ;)
