Thanks to cake guy, who did not just do that once but at every single dolmen for well over an hour and probably close to two, I was unable to loot the chest at any of the dolmens so got no loot for most of them.

If you're too stubborn to go farm dolmans in any other zone in the base game you don't get my sympathy. Not that I'm defending this practice, but seriously! If you stayed in that zone for over an hour with this going on it's on you! I would have gone on to a different zone after the 2nd cake.

Letting someone run you off from where you want to be, doing what you want to do, by their bad behavior isn't the solution. Dealing with the bad behavior is.

If you were trying to get inside the grocery store and someone was blocking the entrance with shopping carts, the manager wouldn't tell you to go find a different store to shop at. They'd call the police and have the perpetrator removed.

It is not reasonable to expect the person being harassed to tuck their tail between their legs and run away, while the person causing the trouble is allowed to continue.

I know some people don't like confrontation but really? Stand up for what is right.

It places an object on the ground that other people can pick up. When they pick it up, they eat it and get sick. It's just a short animation. Yep, very useful for checking if that level 3 player trotting only an apparently predetermined path picking up nodes is a bot.

You pick up a node, then place the mystery meat. When the "player" walks up to the now replaced node and activates the meat...multiple times...it's a pretty good way for players who aren't sure if someone is a bot to ease their conscience about putting in a report.

I love that idea. Would it be possible to add something to the meat to disrupt the script of the bot? Perhaps a small speed boost or just the slightest mandatory pause when they pick it up. I'm not sure how bots work, but placing a player usable method to throw them off course would be brilliant.

do players really use bots in this game? i mean, talk about stupid. you get caught and you're out for life, is it worth it just for a few nodes?

Yeah, they really use bots...I have seem them multiple times... its crazy watching them...

From what I remember, even when I ate the cake by accident, I was still able to loot the chest afterward. I just had to be a little more careful with the interact prompt.

How far do you stay zoomed out? I noticed you mentioned that bears and such don't block you either. I have to stay zoomed all the way out or I get motion sickness, and I think that does affect your click radius. I can move all around someone's blocking pet or a blocking item like the cake, and no matter where I position myself or how I angle my camera, there's just nothing popping up for me *but* the cake, or nothing at all if it's a warden bear et al.

At that time there *weren't* any other zones being farmed. I had gone to Auridon first, posted in a couple places in zone and was told to go to Alik'r because that's where the farming was. And this was back when I was not yet able to do dolmens by myself, I was new and had no gear or knowledge of how to upgrade myself to solo things. Now that I can solo dolmens, I absolutely do. Or at least try--every time I start one, others show up pretty quick.

Hmm, I don't know exactly how far I'm zoomed out, but usually not the full way back unless I'm in PVP. It's interesting to think that perhaps small things like that make such a big difference in how people are able to interact with objects.

Hell...WoW's Piccolo of the Flaming Fire used to be FAR more troll worthy (of course they nerfed the *** out of it too), especially when it worked on all players, regardless of faction. God I loved that thing...

I don't feel strongly either way, but I wanted to mention I've encountered people putting mystery meat down at the last second when a harrowstorm finished.
So you go to get the reliquary but suddenly you're picking up mystery meat.
It can definitely be used in situations where you're not really giving people a choice.

I think that's an extremely narrow view to impose on people. People also don't come into the game to be berated by a stodgy player for trying to engage in things that bring them joy. You can mount to immediately cancel the action. Also, even if it is sitting in front of or on top of something you need to interact with, it still shows the prompt to eat the meat. You're pranking yourself by activating it, regardless of placement, and then you surmise everyone must be harassing?

It solves it for me. nobody pays me to police idiots in the game and I play to enjoy myself. If someone is jerking me around I go do something else I enjoy! Problem solved. Does it bother me that they caused me to move? Not one jot! I move around in this game from zone to zone as it is now. I've completed the story lines on my main so my alts just hop around.

If that works for you then that is fine for you. But it doesn't work for me.

Well if you fell for it so many times it became annoying, you should know what it looks like now and just not fall for it.

I think in the grand scheme of things, its not a big deal. But the constant stream of "little things" starts to make the experience kind of annoying. The jackass who deliberately parks his bear on top of the writ turn-ins so that it just takes that little bit longer. The idiot standing over you while you try to open a chest even though they'd be far better served spending that time finding another. The people going out of their way to scam the clueless.

I personally wouldn't get upset over the silly meat thing - its kinda funny as a once- or twice- off. Buuuut its not hard to understand why people get annoyed within the context of all the other stuff. You know that there is a certain type of person that will genuinely spend time trying to make things crap for other people. There's a lot of hostility and antagonism in this game that a lot of us don't need. Its not some real-life lesson: people generally don't act like that because irl they'd cop a smack in the chops.
