How is the game now in 2021?

So I’ve been playing since launch on console. Took a couple breaks then stopped completely.
After I got a brand new Gaming PC, I started over completely. Refarmed everything and grinded again. Enjoyed the thrill of farming and fighting.
I stopped then due to horrible server performance and PvP was just not fun when it crashed and froze all the time.
I stopped last year after Dark Heart of Skyrim.
I wanna ask how it is now? Here are some questions I have:
1) PvP server performance. Is it still bad? I couldn’t play online with others bc it was super unstable.
2) PvE content: When I left, StamCro was the highest DPS. What is it now?
3) Mag v Stam. One thing that annoyed me since launch was the clear imbalance of Stam and Mag. How is it now?
4) How are the new dungeons?
5) Would you say it’s worth it to return?

    1) maybe better than before but can still be bad in ball group fighting in cyro.
    2) I think mag is best in pve dps
    3) stam better in PvP for solo, mag good in groups. Pve mag is better.
    4) pretty good
    5) I love the game despite it's flaws. It's the only game I play, or have bought, the last almost 4 years.

    1) It's still bad.
    2) Depends of content type. Usually magcro is now way to go due to high DPS and group support.
    3) Imbalance still exists. In certain areas smaller then it was in other ones bigger.
    4) Depends which update. The latest one are overly simplified but with some new mechanics. Previous ones are ok.
    5) If You have nothing else to play then yes.

    5) Would you say it’s worth it to return?

To Anyone thinking of returning: Simple answer-NO

I returned first week of April, and bought 3 months of ESO+
I have been bugged since returning with a Game Breaking Bug
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/572659/mailbox-full-but-empty/p1

I am NOT the only Returning player with this BUG. It's been 6 weeks, with no word on when it is going to be fixed. or if there will be any form of compensation for dealing this for so long. A lot of players have already quit or cancelled their sub over this.
I would NOT advise any returning players to come back to the game in it's current state.

    lol...on a serious note...

    1) PvP server performance is still bad. Lag grps are still a thing.
    2) PvE content: still have certain classes and builds that out perform others. Same really.
    3) PvP stam still rules, PvE Mag still rules. the same.
    4) New dungeons are awesome.
    5) I would dip your toes in, Ive been playing since 2014 and the chnages they are making with stickerbook and a few quality of life stuff seems to really improve it my end. Try it yourself and see. :)

    1) - Yes, it's the same pretty much as far as I know, though they have disabled proc sets in Cyrodiil.
    2) - Stamina classes reach higher Dummy parses but when it comes to real PvE, Mag classes are preferred. MagCros and MagSorcs are on the lead here, followed by Wardens and NBs and finally MagDKs. MagPlars are somewhere in the middle but have some players who somehow outperform the higher tier classes.
    3) - For PvE: Mag still is better due to their range and better wards. For PvP: Same-old Heavy armour proc Stam builds are at the top in BGs, but more time has passed since Stonethorn so even more of them had time to farm Crimson Twilight. I personally practically quit BGs. Unsure about Cyrodiil.
    4) - Latest dungeons are pretty neat. One has 3 bosses with HMs and other 3 minor secret bosses, the other is a more classic dungeon. Former is more fun in my opinion. The dungeon team seems to actually care about their work despite being forced to work with 4-year-old models.
    5) - Depends. Chances are the same issues that made you quit are still very much present (I have noticed 0 performance improvements), but it might be worth it to give No-Proc Cyrodiil a try. The new chapter will rebalance proc sets by making them scale with your stats, which will hopefully make PvP more fun. ZOS was bought by Microsoft and we've seen one of the first changes recently: A system to obtain crown gem items for free through the completion of daily quests. ZOS devs have also said in interviews that they're going to switch servers this year, and honestly, it's a gamble whether or not it's worth it to start playing again now just to hope for the chance the performance will improve.
So it's up to you. If you quit during the hell that was the game after Markarth's release, those issues have been fixed for a long time, but if it was due to the bad performance overall you may find yourself quitting again in a month.

I definitely enjoy the game though! (maybe because I don't PvP lol)

    1) PVP performance is pretty awful. Group size reduced to 12. Lot of changes made to abilities to make it less server intensive. Proc sets disabled.
    2) Magcro
    3) Mag best in PVE, Stam best in PVP. Though they're nerfing the fak out of Mag PVE and making Stam a lot more powerful next major patch. Making group size max of 12 in all instances (people not happy about this one, including me)
    4) Dungeons are better and better with each new release. A lot of fun.
    5) Yes. The game is worth playing despite the annoying bugs, pvp performance awful, crown store greed, etc. The pros outweigh the cons, at least in my opinion.

    1. Yes, it's still bad. They're still trying to figure out how to tune performance, on a 7 year old game.
    2. I think MagCro and MagSorc are the highest, could be wrong.
    3. It generally seems like mag DD are in a better spot than their stamina counterparts.
    4. They're ok, I've done Black Drake Villa a few times, but I don't really play Vet content.
    5. No. I can't recommend spending any additional money on this game due to their handling of bug fixes. Just take a look at their handling of the following discussions and issues and ask yourself if this a company you'd like to support, choice is yours:

just came back about a month

cant really say for sure for pvp, but at least i play a bit of pvp, and i think its much better, i prefer the current pvp with no proc set, but again, it'll revert back next patch, proc will be enabled again

mag and stam still unbalance, stam for pvp, mag for pve

    dungeons quite good

yes its worth the return, sub to ESO+ again if you want really, i play on PC obv i don't get the problem that console user hard, and also some bugs like mail bug, i also not experienced it

I'm having a great time. I was really frustrated with patches leading up to the vampire rework, and then the vampire rework felt so bad and incomplete, I didn't really give it a chance. After coming back, I don't think it is as bad as I made it out to be, and I do see A LOT of positive balance changes and performance improvements. The new champion point system is beautiful as well, and the simplification of some minor/major buffs makes building less of a headache. Now they're reworking proc sets to scale with specific sets, which looks to be a huge quality of life improvement as well because full tanks cannot just throw on one or two proc sets and kill people in PvP as they'll now hit like wet noodles... BUT I am afraid of the lack of a damage cap for some of these sets, hopefully zos nerfs their base damage or adds a damage cap to limit the power of gank builds.

    1. Cyrodiil is still bad, but Battlegrounds & IC are fine. The current Cyro change (only stat sets allowed) have been really popular with some and disappointing to others. IC is expected to be more crowded next patch because some of the topside bosses will now drop unique monster sets, so that could be something to check out.
    2. It depends on the content and the player. For example: The top 10 Iron Atronach DPS parses on esologs.com include stamplar, mag necro, magden, and stamsorc. The top 10 vKA DPS parses are 9 mag necros with a magden mixed in. The top 10 vAS+2 are mostly magblade with some magsorc and a mag necro. But these are just the highest competitive parses in just a few areas. It looks like mag necro is the most flexible right now, but people play all other classes. I'm not sure which are the least performant classes right now, but maybe DK.
    3. Mag is still preferred for certain vet trials that are better as ranged, but I don't experience much difference in dungeons. All classes and both stam/mag work fine. But I've never been frustrated by stam/mag balance, personally.
    4. Vateshran Hollows (the new solo arena) is really fun IMO, plus has good set drops. The Cauldron and Black Drake Villa (newest dungeons) are both fun, with good final boss fights and bonus challenges and hard modes, definitely worth doing. Stone Garden and Castle Thorn have new and unique mechanics, but I've only done them once each.
    5. Well, we're two weeks from the next major update, so all these answers will change somewhat. PvP is expected to be more proc-based, DPS ranks will change, and there will be a whole new trial and sets to wear. So come back if you miss doing stuff with guildies, wanna try the new solo arena and dungeons, or wanna fend off gankblades in IC.

So the proc bs was the one if the reasons I left: I got sick of playing with PvP that required no skill as sets did all the work. So I’m confused...is that gone now? I think I read above they’re bringing it back?

Yes procs are going to come back to cyrodil with the next patch, in other PVP game modes they never left and are worse than ever. With the next match they did make a change to the way procs scale, but that change is quite disputed and might make things even worse.

    1. Worse than before. And it's getting progressively worse.
    2. MagCros are around the top I think.
    3. Still unbalanced.
    4. For me they are boring cause the mechanics ( if you can even call them that ) are too simple compared to some other MMOs.
    5. Depends what you want to do. Considering there are several new MMOs that should be coming out in the next few months unless you're way into the story of ESO and want to play through it, I'd say no, not worth it.

P.S Game still has terrible issues with maintenance days. Even without any patches etc. sometimes maintenances take 10 hours+ and then no one is able to log in.

    1. Yeah still awful, the poor performance has spread to Trials too.

    2. Pretty sure Magcro has the highest dps these days, if you play stamina you're usually laughed at since groups usually pack full magicka setups.

    3. same as usual, magicka preferred in pve, stamina preferred for 1v1 and magicka preferred in group pvp

    4. Not terrible but a way too easy. DLC dungeon difficulty are kind of a joke these days.

    5. I'd say no but if you have people to play with here go for it.

Can someone explain the new proc set changes for pvP?

Proc sets will now scale with specific max resource. Most of the offensive sets will scale with weapon or spell dmg whichever is higher and most of the healing proc sets will scale with max mag or stam whichever is higher. There will be also sets scaling from max HP like crimson and those sacaling with max resistance. For many builds it'll be nerf because for example for offensive proc sets to reach current proc value You'll need around 6,6k spell or wep dmg. There are however some glass cannon builds that can reach around 9k wep dmg while wearing 3 proc sets which can give higher proc tooltips then currently. Some of the current biggest offenders also recived a nerf , for example crimson dmg was nerfed by 44%.

For more detailed informations check out this post under "ITEMIZATION & ITEM SETS" section https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/572676/pts-patch-notes-v7-0-2#latest

I think performance might be better now BUT pvp sucks. You don't even see the enemy attacking most the time you just see a death report.
