Why did you put one of the Pale Order ring pieces in to a public dungeon that has like 14 trash mobs, then make it drop from trash mobs? It's 8am here and there's already 10 people in there camping the trash spawns.

    This is ridiculous.

Shoutout to Dwemer Star Charts lead for being just as worse, for a purely cosmetic furnishing item. Thanks, ZOS!

Was so lucky with this, got it in 5 minutes! The wife on the other hand, took hours, needless to say she was not impressed lol.

Yeah, at time it really seems ZOS has this idea of how the game is on the live server that's nowhere close to reality.

I haven't gotten it yet because after 3hours I can't get myself to go back to BMH. Spending hours trying to compete for low HP trash mob kills with people who won't group and are using every speed buff possible to race ahead of anyone else heading to those mobs and then slamming the mobs with their highest dmg skills before anyone else can even get in a LA. Not fun.

This is not how a lot of people want to spend their time, ZOS, and saying "it's suppose to rare and is a reward for those who put in the time to farm it" isn't OK when your game design is outright encouraging toxic behavior from the playerbase. Do better.
PC-NA since 2015. Tired and unimpressed.

It's crazy that people are still trying for the lead. I got extremely lucky and had it drop on my 3rd loop around the public dungeon. Maybe 20 minutes. The Arteum lead dropped on the 3rd fishing hole. Had the ring completed night one of the dlc dropping.

The coldrock diggings boss lead was the one that gave the most trouble. Sat there killing that boss on respawn for an hour while I watched Netflix.

But, I don't think having hard to get items that require a bit of competition with other players is a bad thing. These mythics should be difficult to obtain.

Agreed — horrible. I have spent countless hours on multiple alts in that stupid dungeon and still haven’t gotten the lead. I’m way past frustrated — it is infuriating!

This one was bad but the Reach is worse. All seven scarab pet leads drop from one type of ad in the same dwemer ruin. Ancestral reach motif comes from treasure maps in two zones. RNG to get a map, rng to get the right map, less than 30% chance in rng to get a lead, and which lead is also rng based. Good luck finishing that one. It’s terrible design for a system that is generally pretty fun.

Why should they be difficult to obtain? When they first are released, maybe. But ZOS eventually nerfs them to almost uselessness that they are no better than any other piece of gear. So I don't agree that they should be difficult to obtain.

I’m pretty sure I got that lead from a boss, not sure why everyone thinks it’s just from trash now.

Also do those 10 people know that Pale Order is dead in a couple weeks?

There's a game outside Trials. The actual game.

It's pretty bad in any group content. This is an MMO...

Maybe could be used for things that are specifically locked for solo, like vMA. IMO there are better options though.

One lead is for the Ring of the Pale Order, and the other is for Wild Hunt iirc.

One drops from mobs, the other bosses. Sadly it's not an "it comes from either source" type situation; it just depends on which you're farming for.

Besides, there will always be solo players doing solo content... which is what the RotPO is best for. It's even getting a slight buff when solo, last patch notes I saw.

For a Vampire Necro, it's goof for vMA and doing world boss quests, that's what I want it for. The reasons are completely irrelevant anyways, they don't change the fact that it drops from an idiotic place.

Do you *NEED* it? No, but that's completely besides the point.

I thought I'd farm both leads while doing the dungeon the first time. Wild Hunt dropped off the first boss. Pale Order, I got sick of competing with the other 12 or so people after 45+min.

Genuine question: Has it been 100% confirmed that these leads only drop in the bad man's cave and cannot be picked up anywhere else?

Yes, all leads have a specific thing they drop from and nothing else. Be it treasure chests from zone x, mobs in dungeon y.

Oof. Then yeah, no leads should drop on trainee islands. They're designed not to overwhelm new players....

Most people run the dungeon loop, never seeing the little crevasse that drops down and lead to the Giant Snake Mother boss.

Drop down there... It contains the boss and decent sized v-shaped tunnel area that has a number of quick spawning trash mobs to pull.

It's usually void of many players. Just stay in that area running back and forth killing trash (and boss whenever she's up) and you should have it in no time. I think it was about an hour for my drop.

Just don't jump down cliff at the opposite end of tunnel you enter (you can't exit the way you came in), thus re-entering the
"loop run" (gen pop) area again by accident. You'll have to run all the way around to enter crevasse to that area again if so.

Guys, seriously, you never had the idea to invite into group these other fellows and kill adds in group, so that everyone can have loot from all mobs??? When I was hunting for it, I always added others into the group. No one denied invitation. Still had to spend like 3 hours. But never complained about crowdedness.

    I feel your frustration.

After a handful of unsuccessful forays I took it upon myself to go there at 4 AM GMT during weekdays - before work - for a couple of hours when the 'player population' is low.

Still took the whole week to get the lead.

At least I walked out with the RotWH lead as well.

Never again. The codex entries can 'do Juan'.

I also started farming leads for the antiquities pet scarab in The Reach. Same proposition: Few and far between mobs, generous respawn timer, overfarmed, 70%+ do not drop anything, leads as rare as hen's teeth. Nope. Nope nope nope.

MMO but all the mob numbers are about single player gamer numbers or fewer - look at almost all the dailies - get x items, whole server trying to kill x-3 mobs for those drops etc...

Because people don't group. You could have a group up to 12 people doing the quest together and getting loot from stuff other group members have killed.

But nooooo, people would rather compete than collaborate.

That's because the game is actively being targeted at solo players.

No. It’s because the ESO community is competitive by nature because ESO started out as a game that was meant to be competitive with light cooperation. Leaderboards, Time Trials, dps bypassing mechanics, Guild Traders, and PvP endgame brought in and nurtured the “do it yourself” and competitive mindset. On top of that, you have next to no moderation in-game.

Honestly, this isn't a big problem, but the real problem is 2 mythic ring parts drop from the same public dungeon. I remember getting a lead and being so happy I didn't bother to check which one it was. Was disappointed when I dug it up and was like, "Wait a second..."
