Companions? For what? Combat in ESO is already watered down to the point of just randomly pressing buttons for overland NPCs and yawning. No special armour or weapon needed.

As for Oblivion, so far it looks it's using many of already available assets. This should have been included with E+, but oh well, they need to hype and cash.

Why complaints now, there are enough threads for that? This is supposed to be about positive opinions ... just as a side note... sorry, had to say that.

    I wrote this in another thread, but I will just copy/paste it here;

Blackwood LOOKS great visually, it seems to have interesting storyline, and the new player houses look nice, but mechanics wise everything in this update is so awful. It is just bad. This has to be the WORST patch I have ever seen, and I am still fuming about Bosmers losing stealth.
The nerf on proc sets, the nerf to cp, the nerf to group sizes, and companions being relegated FROM possibly being a useful tool to just a rather mediocre diversion.

There is nothing really in this update to look forward to. Yeah the zone is nice, but it brings along a lot of really awful baggage with it.

I should also add that the new oblivion portal mechanic is going to be HIGHLY controversial.

They are hard to find, so it will cut down on the amount of players doing them.

They are long and the reward is not that great, also lowering player involvement.

And they may be overturned to the general player base. If you can solo the more difficult public dungeons with their bosses, great. If not, you will not get very far.

I just don’t see what’s to be excited over...

    1. Companions are still weak. They were just nerfed (WTF) going into final PTS week. The bug fixes still do not address the issue with the AI standing in red and dying instantly. Companions are literally a soul gem sink with no value.

    2. Scaling on proc sets is still off. This has resulted in magicka dps players being shafted in both PvE and PvP. Penetration is not even remotely a compensation for the sheer lack of spell damage needed to get DECENT proc values.

    3. Being a tank in ESO still feels like a punishment outside of group content. This is why so few folks are available to queue as tanks for dungeons. No HP-scaling damage abilities added at all and the few proc sets tanks had for basic DPS are no longer usable. Tanks don’t need tons of DPS - just enough to not have overland content be painful AF.

I see the hate machine is up and running...how drole.

Yes, always sad to see so much hate. Some people simply cannot evaluate something objectively. They don't like something because it's not what they want and then it automatically sucks and everyone else shouldn't like it either. And they have to communicate their dislike to everyone with the strongest of words. If someone doesn't like something, fine, but then there is no need to envy the other for the fun and try to shade a bad light on everything. That certainly doesn't apply to the majority, but you see it every day.

Over the top drama. Go ballistic or go home! ZOS likely just ignores it, but I am sure it makes people feel better.

I preordered on both PC and XBox and have active ESO Plus on both. Looking forward to this chapter and the extended look at companions that comes with it. Sure, there are problems. We will see how thing unfold over the next few months.

what'll probably happen in the first couple of weeks is roving groups of 12 players running around the map and zone chat to point to where the next portal is - this might be why ZOS reduced group size from 24 to 12. However, I doubt that will last - maybe the next dolmen they design could be like a Castle Defense activity.

As for this new chapter I will re-iterate what I said before
The only reason I got this chapter was because it heavily features Argonian Lore. That's it - Companions are nice little bonus that will be fixed and expanded upon over time but if this year was about only Imperials then I would not have bought it.

I would like Questing more if the gameplay supported the story & questing, and was also more generally engaging in the leveling process.

The game has good writing but the main story boss fights are just terrible and killed my interest in the story. I am tired of the Main Story spending over 10 hours building up the stakes & hyping up the main villain to be the greatest threat to Tamriel, perhaps even Nirn - only for the boss fight to be Extremely Anti-Climatic & Mediocre. Really kills the narrative for me.

It doesn't have to be as hard as a Vet HM Trial or the hardest dungeon - but it doesn't need to ONLY be designed for complete Novices. There is clearly a middle ground between Veteran and Beginner that ZOS should look into.

I look forward to each expansion... except for one thing... WHY do they keep adding zones and leaving little tiny strips of inaccessible land?

(STILL can't see any images I post. I can see other people's images... if anyone can suggest why I can't see the images I post, I'd love to hear about it.)

had preordered because of the welva mount.

Was not really excited, as Oblivion was what I liked less in Tes4, preferred Nirn.

But ok, a new region, and Argonians, at least something new after skyrim.

Meanwhile this "it's ok" feeling turned into heavy disappointment:

    - CP skills nerfed by 50%
    - Proc sets like Mad Tinkerer and all Monstersets becoming useless for magicka players
    - companions more a burden than a usefull addon according to PTS feedback

In addition it was announced, that we will get focus on fixes and improvements instead of rushed new content.
But on xbox and PS4 we must live for 6 weeks with a dysfunctional inventory, after weeks with an extremely slow inventory. I feel cheated.

I was excited as well but as time goes on and with all the problems on PlayStation my excited is gone now. Could care less about the chapter which is the first time and I have been here since it came out on PlayStation. In fact, this game is the reason I even purchased a PlayStation. Just want a functional game I can play. Play less and less every day. Did writs and started pledges and after I could not trade and give my helm to a teammate after my first dungeon Black Villa I just quit for the day.

Stay safe and enjoy the journey 😊

PS. ZOS stop the micromanagement of the green tree 🥺

Companions seem ok, having a healer on my solo builds will always be welcome. The new 2h charge buff looks good... Obviously the new questing sounds fun. Oh, the new Harpooner's legs look pretty goo-- aaaand it's nerfed. I'd be more excited if there was no nerf to penetration.

They leave the little stripes everywhere so that at some point there can be a year-long story with the title "Gap Filler".
