By being a responsible adult with a reasonable level of impulse control.

That, together with almost no interest in gear, virtually no interest in the crown store apart from housing which I use my subscription crowns on, and zero interest in this game's trading system.

Easy actually. I make sure I don't spend more than I have coming in to replenish it. I won't pay crazy gold for patterns and motifs I can farm myself, I look for "sales" lol. Most of my gold goes into housing and that lux vendor owes me at the VERY LEAST dinner.

Oh I never buy mats unless they are up for crazy good prices.

My shopping sprees normally involve motifs. I've spent thousands of gold on them. Anything to finish out that grand master acheive. Motifs are like my kryptonite xD I've even caught myself selling whatever I've got to make a quick gold stash to buy one little motif.

Only true way of stopping myself is going broke. Stops me every time.

Mine is furnishings. I got the Grand Psijic Manor as one of my first homes, and I have yet to fill it up yet. Even with Trophies and achievement items from completed zones. I basically grind gold to buy stuff for my house. ;)

I don't gold out unless I'm sure I will use the sets for very long time

For example: crafty alfiq, mothers sorrow etc still using them for 2 years so it worth it

I also have a budget - I don't let my gold go below certain level just in case I see something and I want to buy

For rest, I don't care, if I have the money and if it makes me happy...

    No regrets!

Simple. Just spend all your gold x)

I have the opposite problem. Nothing really appeals to me that I don't already have, so my gold I just slowly accumulating until something interesting rolls around.
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

Housing is awesome, I can spend hours decorating. I don't have all the patterns or mats to make all the furniture. I won't pay the terrible prices I see on trade vendors for furniture or mats. So I use crowns, i do shop at traders to see if I can catch a bargain. But I see people putting up items that are just way to expensive. So I fish and scry or make my own and indulge in crown store furnishings. The luxury item vendor does take a great deal of my gold. But as far as the traders I'm not here to make others rich. I would buy from them but pricing needs to come down on some items, including blueprints, because in the end I can farm them myself and make them myself.

Edited to add if it makes you happy and is part of your entertainment budget I see nothing wrong with it. If you are spending more than you want you have to seek that self control. Many people impulse buy and I am guilt of that too.

I find it helps when you are also replenishing funds. Since the sticker book I have spent at least 8 or 9 million gold buying set pieces and motifs that I was missing, as well as all of the cheaper houses. But I also was selling a lot during that time and made a lot during the anniversary event. I am now 2M gold over where I started. It isn't uncommon for me to spend 200k a week on things I find I need to complete something.

I think I went on a shopping spree last night, I crafted and golded out new armor that I don't really need (purple for jewelry), I bought some armor for my collections which I ended up not using, I reconstructed my monster set with better traits, I transmuted some parts... And I'm pretty sure this wasn't even necessary, as I'll change sets in a couple weeks or so (or they'll be nerfed). Last week I spent crowns too to buy some styles I thought I'd use, but I ended up using a base-game costume instead (lol)

Like others, I store most of my gold in the bank at all times. I tend to keep about 2,000 gold on each alt, for the occasional upgrade (they're all fully upgraded on speed and inventory, but I've been more casual about upgrading stamina, so most are hovering between 30-40), and to make sure there's cash on hand for guild store listing fees. Or for "mad money" in case of some unforeseen need. At first I used the savings for my less frequently played alts to upgrade their bag space. But I'm basically done with that now.

Spending money on motifs isn't a big temptation for me. I've got tons still stored in the bank from anniversary events and random drops, still trying to decide which alt to use them. I guess I'm what you'd call an ambivalent completionist; I'd never throw anything away that I might use, and I have an eye on my progress toward most of the achievements, but I don't feel any sense of urgency about it. I expect to be playing this game for a long while yet, I'll get there eventually.

My biggest temptation is housing, so for now I'm mostly letting that gold stack while I wait to buy several and furnish them all in one fell swoop. I'm still trying to work out my priority list.

Now, if only our gold in the bank earned interest, like in the old Tradewinds games... I know, I know, MMOs don't do that... blah, blah, blah, the economy... I'm just saying, occasionally I think to myself, wouldn't that be nice...

As a non-subscriber I fight with inventory space very often. The solution I've found was to leave Master Writs' Vouchers Chests dedicated to Crafting Materials, Style Materials (there are so many...), Crafting Upgrades, Enchanting Runes & Jewelry Stones (as there wasn't enough space in other chests), Alchemy & Provisioning and pre-crafted consumables for Daily Writs (potions, poisons and food).

I only go on a shopping spree when my stock is getting low or when I make some decent cash in Guild Store to let me buy motifs I don't have comfortably (since I rarely find motif farming groups during morning times)

Last night I spent about 300k on motif pages. I had gone through my lore book and for every unfinished motif book where I had 12 or more pieces, I bought the missing pieces. Then I went looking for any motif page I had not yet learned with a price of 10k or lower in mournhold and solitude. I am now at 25 finished motif books.

I just change/upgrade stuff when I really need to. Mats are never an issue on my accounts so I can craft/rebuild whenever I really need.
For the looks, I use a couple of costumes and learned motifs for all my chars: I just buy motif pages if I REALLY need them for master writs.
I buy some costumes and personalities from time to time at the store but only if I REALLY like them.

I think the key, at the end of the day, is self-control.
My advise is: don't be impulsive. Think if the action you are about to take is important or not.

Mostly for achievement to help earn more and better master writs, although in my experience, alts that don't even know anything beyond Daedric will get the gold writs wroth 100+ vouchers while a Grand Master Crafter will get a purple writs worth 6-7, because the whole thing is broken as fluff.
