As long as you're only spending gold earned in game, it's all fake money anyway. Enjoy it.

By being a responsible adult with a reasonable level of impulse control.

I mean, I think he's mostly talking about in-game gold. It's not like it's going to help with my retirement! lol But thanks for the talk, dad.

Just like in real life, gold is meant to be spent. It has no other uses. If you really wanna save up for something, put your gold in the bank. I'm just like you, always on the edge of going bankrupt because I tend to spend it all on mats and furniture.. Don't feel bad about it, you can always earn it back.

I’m not much of a shopping lover IRL, so I guess it makes sense that I rarely go on in-game shopping sprees, either. I only buy the things I need.

This is easy. First, I never liked zos guild trader system. I have two characters only and they have been using the same epic gear they got at cp 160 years ago. I don't craft or do trials and vet content or PVP. Is all about overland and story content along with delves public dungeons and world bosses. The last thing I bought was food. And that was a stack of 100.

My shopping sprees are motifs. I have a ton of them, but I use only 4 favourite for outfits. Yet every time I save like 50k gold I rush to TTC to hunt missing pages...

Glad this thread is getting attention, looks like this topic resonates with how others feel!

The thing is that, in a video game, you may behave like you do in real life, or just do the exact opposite. I save a lot irl, and I actually save a lot in-game as well, I bank my gold, I sell everything I can, I only spend on armor I'll use etc. It's just that sometimes I feel like, why do I have the gold piling up in the bank if I won't even use it? It's virtual currency for Mara's sake! So then I decide to spend some coin. I feel bad if I do but at least I have set a limit below which I don't allow my account to fall. Then again, what use does money have if you won't spend it? :/

I decide what I need and the price I'm willing to pay for it before I go shopping. Same as in real life.

As someone with spending impulses it’s best to give your gold to a trusted friend or a partner and let them hold on to it lol
    (ADHD person here :P)

    You better trust them ALOT.

Amount XY spending gold on char, amount Z in the bank.
After char went shopping with gold XY, fill up his amount from Z in the bank, and no new shopping until amount Z has filled up again to what it was.

Every coin of gold you want to save for ...whatever / whenever / emergencies... goes either first into the bank and then you put it on a small char that you never play. Or if you have a 2nd account you send it there. Same with storage of golden mats etc.. If you have to relog before you use the gold you have time to think if its just a moment thing or if you really want this.

I actually do craft, cause completionist and I can craft furniture and things for my home as well as weapons and gear, but I agree with you on the rest. But I actually like the guild trader system, EXCEPT for its bias to CP160+ content. When I was a lowly level 1-50, I couldn't find food or gear to help me on any of the guild traders.. I had the gold, it just wasnt available. This was before I was in a guild. The guild helped me with food and gear for my level until I hit 160, and then they helped me grind dungeons til I got the correct armor set for my character, as well as helping me learn the ropes on playing the game and nuances of various races and classes. And they will do the same with any noob who joins, and I will as well, in addition to encouraging all new players to join a good guild that doesnt discriminate against low levels, because the better the noobs play the game, the better it is for all of us. And the traders allow the guilds to stay open.

AND just FYI: I sell low level stuff for lower amounts on our trader, (that sell quickly btw) just so noobs have an option for stuff on the traders to help them Git Gud.

Right now I have pretty much everything the game offers (excluding crown store) or I want. I have a boatload of gold and don’t do anything with it. I have 99% of all the motifs. 80+% of the crafting recipes and diagrams. Every pice of gear I use is gold including jewelry.

I was actually thinking most every other player was in the same situation and they need to find a way to remove gold.

It wasn’t hard to do. I just quest and do daily writs. I sell pretty much all my extra gold mats because I don’t need more. Purple mats are the only things I get short on and that’s because I do the master writs. I’m sitting on 15k vouchers right now and have everything the vendors sell. I get the envelopes but out of maybe 10 I get one design I don’t have. I put the duplicates on traders but that just gets me more gold that I have nothing to spend on.

I’m not good at decorating so I don’t buy houses. What else? Trade gold for crowns? I do if there is something I really want but that is kind of rare. I have the banker and merchant.

So there is you answer. Buy it all and you can’t spend it.

I have the opposite problem...started out farming and crafting...always buying low and selling higher. I've bought most of the high end furnishings...have stopped selling so much...and still keep accumulating gold. Have no need for another house I never visit. Once I've furnished big house not much point in doing it again. It's rough to be FILTHY RICH. :)

I'd like to buy a flying saucer and fly around with my buddies...the greys. Maybe go to other planets...

As soon as I post this...someone will likely try to lighten my load..... B) ...good luck...
