How would you rate ESO overall?

Potential ✭✭✭✭✭ out of ✭✭✭✭✭ for sure.
At it current stage ✭✭✭ out of ✭✭✭✭✭, mostly due to bugs & no global Auction House or Market and PvP faction / player balancing issues. imho.

ESO has a market. I love how the markets are created through large guilds. It creates a community and it creates thousands of markets. You clearly don't get its greatness.

After a month of play I would rate PVE it 5 out of 10 but this based on Bugs and up coming changes.
PVP 8 out of 10, as a generally non PVP'er in other games, this game makes it fun, yeah the crashes are annoying but whereas in PVE when a bug get to me I leave and do something else, in PVP I crash out I jump straight back in.
I even leveled an alt to 10 so when I got my main stuck in PVP I could log my alt in, in the meantime :)

I have cancelled my sub due to the combat bug though. No you can't have my stuff. :pensive:

Yes, there are bugs, but the game has only been out a month! They are to be expected.

Yes, the customer service is some of the worst I've ever seen, but that's not actually a part of the game itself, merely a tangentially related service.

The bottom line is: I look forward to logging in every day, and when I am logged in, I always have a blast.

I'd give it 7/10 as the game is enjoyable and fun, I like exploration and the story best. I also enjoy the combat and the variety of skills, armour and weapons you can use. Like that it has a darker edge.

Things I don't like: UI is terrible without mods
No proper AH. Even being a member of 3 trade guilds I rarely ever sell anything.
There's way too many bugs and broken animations.
Not enough inventory or bank space. I feel like I spend 40% of the time playing inventory management game instead of playing ESO.

Even with the things I dislike I will keep playing as there is no other MMO that interests me. Competitors are too cartoony, comical, cheesy and light hearted. eg.GW2 and Wildstar.
I'd rather have a buggy darker edge of ESO over less buggy comical, cartoony MMO's.

My rating is 7 out of 10. If the entire game will just be Cyrodiil with more PVE story elements, my rating will be 10 out of 10. My suggestion is to get rid of everything but Cyrodiil and just concentrate in incorporating PVE into Cyrodiil. I am not enjoying the grind in PVE anymore. Regardless, I am sure ESO will be more enjoyable in the consoles, which is where I had always planned to play it.

3/10 mainly due to the bugs bots exploits and negligable c/s.
Quests are not immersive, dungeons are a joke (aka no reason at all to play a stealth toon in public dungeons when u cant do jack to prevent the guy behind u screwing it up)
the ui as is i can live with addons make it better thou
Needs a crafting bank in addition to the normal one
Needs an auction house sorry but huge 500 man trading guilds do nothing for the game and limit my customers
Skill reset system is a joke should be able to undo individual morphs
graphics need a complete overhaul to make things non static

may improve one day but the way zenimax are treating customers at the moment, we are looking at years before any of it is fixed.

In truth after waiting so long for this game i am really dissapointed i really feel like i am paying for a game that should still be in open beta

You have to look at mmo's differently for reviewing them. You simply have to just look at the core features and fast forward yourself into the future then decide the replay value. The core features ive fast forwarded myself into the future for are

storyline and story flavor. This is a 7/10. The mainstory and fighter/mage/undaunted stories are interesting. Not epic, but the work was put in to make them have an aceptable standard.

Interface and controls. This is a 6/10. The controls were known to me to be clunky before i bought the game, but the interface is terrible. Especially the grouping interface.

Crafting is an 8/10. If offer a large amount of options and though the interface is bad, i think they did a good job.

Class system and Skill tree. 9/10. The classes are interesting and the skill tree is likely the best feature for me in this game. However, the skill tree is so great and fun that i find myself ignoring the games other features for the sheer desire to gain the next level or skill point.

Pve and Questing 5/10 I quested in a few mmo's with my wife and diablo3 as well, and i find that this games questing is not friendly or sociable to do with other players. Many Many times one of us find ourselves having missed one part of a quest, while the other has it, and this problem deters us from wanting anyone else in our group. Backtracking is the norm for questing with my wife. We have no desire to find other people to quest with because they simply arent very well designed for group play. Dungeons are the only reason we ever have a 3rd person in our group.

Pvp and latency 9/10. The pvp is well designed and very fun. I believe a particular amount of time and money was put into making this aspect of the game shine. This will make it a hit in the console market. The latency for the massive amounts of player onscreen is pretty good too, though i have to drop my settings to low and turn off some minor environmental features even with a top alienware comp and blast internet.

Overrall, this games saving grace is the pvp and classes/skill tree. Beyond that, they arent going to be making any major changes to the core direction they took for questing/pve/interface. Thank jeebus for addons.

I give it a solid 8/10 so far. I haven't experienced many of the major issues people discuss in the forums, and for those who have it makes sense they'll provide a lower rating. Speaking only to my own personal experience it has been a pretty solid 8 with potential to creep upward from there as they improve it (and of course always the potential to move down if they screw it up).

9/10 - The most important thing to me is that it is extremely fun. Great graphics, a living world and quests where things actually change depending on what I do. I haven't experienced bugged quests (yet) and I am grown up enough to not let the bots and gold spammers bother me. I had my first lag yesterday but went to a different part of the zone and it seemed to go away. The interface is pretty similar to Skyrim, which I expected. It's nice not to have the same interface as every other game. I don't like the way lock picking works but that is my own inability to get the danged things open. I just don't bother with chests now and understand that other people like it so why should I spoil their fun. I rarely use the broker function in most games so I don't miss it here. And I don't see that there is a lot I would want off of one. Motif books are nice but I can live without them. I find what I need to make my armor and weapons. I have yet to find a blue item, but I don't let the gear I don't have stress me out so I will wait and find some. I can't comment on PvP because I still haven't tried it yet - can't decide if I will or not. I can't comment on VR levels yet because I haven't got there.

    5 / 10

I absolutely love playing the game when I'm logged in. The skills and their morphs, class and weapon/armor interchangeability and variety, elder scrolls lore and immersion, addicting crafting, sneak attacking things, large-scale pvp...

Sadly, I've probably spent almost as much time trying to log in as I have been leveling to VR1 at this point.

Endless quest bugs, story quest bugs, phasing with grouped party member issues, endless client crashes (often immediately upon login), endless Cyrodil loading screens, unearthly lag in Cyrodil (while large-player fights load just fine), bank slot glitches, dupe issues (although "fixed"), lagging out and disconnecting in busy towns during peak hours (and subsequently not being able to log back in), error reports vaguely described as once "Unknown", support staff e-mails that assume the problem is solved if not responded to in 5 days, unexplained multiple-zone lag during non-peak hours, bugs that were widely known in beta still present in release... the list seems to go on when I think of my grievances.

5 / 10. Game is broken in many places, despite its success as a deviant mmo.

    I would give it a solid 7.

Mainly due to it being fun. The quality and depth of it's class and crafting systems deserves recognition. The expansive world is complete with interesting quests and plenty of reasons to explore. The sound and graphics are also beautiful. The combat is enjoyable. There is a lot here to love.

I wouldn't give it above a 7 in its current state though, due to a horrible in-game economy. It deserves to lose at least a few points for that. I also think the game is paced poorly. My character levels up too fast for me to enjoy the content on par with my level. But it's definitely above average and they did enough things right to merit a good score in my opinion.

8/10. I love the game,I do. The quests are fun, the graphics are amazing (for an mmo anyway). But, it most defo loses points for the banking. I'm always having to shift things from toons I made, but are just packhorses. It costs a lot to upgrade your bank space and bags. For those of us enjoying the journey with a pitiful amount of gold, it can be really frustrating. Not game breaking though. I love how we can choose how we want to play our classes, and I like combat. That is when the enemies are there. Sometimes they just don't appear for me. Reloading the ui fixes it. Normally. Also..Falling through bridges..Always...I have broken gear from always having to /stuck often. Infuriating but, I still play. Overall I'm excited for the future of ESO, and hopeful the kinks are worked out.

**Edit to add** I really dislike guild stores. I don't want to be in a guild. But I want to be able to buy stuff when I'm lazy, or actually make some gold so I can buy more space. I don't want to be forced into a guild for that. Some people want to be solitary and sometimes group up for content..It needs to be sorted somehow. Maybe have guild stores for people who don't want to share with the world...And then an alliance wide AH for us loner types that enjoy certain aspects of mmos, but not all the time.

    6.5/10.

    The Bad and Ugly:

    1. There are too many botters and not enough GM's or public action. Runescape went to war on their website, sued the bot and gold factories and won in court.

    2. There are too many volatile, vicious people who I am not allowed to ignore because my ignore list is full. Also, group finder pairs me with these people despite my best efforts not to experience them. This encourages cyberbullying and griefing.

    3. The rapid gear decay is totally the worst system ever in any MMO that I have ever played. It is totally insane.

    4. 1-5 Action Bar only is a terrible design. We need 9. This isn't NES era.

    5. Shrine of Mara. I wish there were some other "oath" that didn't imply marriage. This is fundamentally bad.

    6. Even garbage MMO shovelware games have a real marketplace. We need a real marketplace, this whole "guild only" vendor is garbage.

    7. Aesthetic only: Many food items are totally gross.

    8. Equipment Decay change reduces 7.5 to 6.5, you suck!

    9. Mages Guild finale "good choice" giving nothing, "evil choice" given +2 skill points. This is bunk. Both choices should give +2 skills. Find something else to separate good/evil reward. Otherwise, total jerks will always be more powerful than good people.

    10. Only one slotted potion at a time. I should be able to place them on my 1-9 action bar.

    11. Only one active food buff at a time. Cheapens provisioning a LOT.

    12. Zenimax Tax is presented as a "House Fee" as though the guild gets a cut of the sale. This is deceptive and the tax is too high.

    The Good:

    1. The story feels a lot less "MMO" and more "RPG" to me.

    2. Smooth gaming experience, easy to learn the game.

    3. 5 guilds, account bound guilds and ignore list. Great stuff.

    4. The PVP was fun before it was taken over by exploiters.

    5. Skyshards. I love the system.

    6. Minimal Lag. Even in PVP, I normally run 15 FPS. 30 tops.

    I would give it a 6 out of 10.

What's stopping a 10 out of 10? It's not a decent MMO. There are lots of people but the game is horrible for groups. Now days I do not understand how a game can even consider itself a MMO if it doesn't have voice chat. Why should I have to download 3rd party software to get this game to do what it should have been included with. Text was fine back in the days of turn based combat but trying to type anything meaningful while figthing is futile.

No auction house. I'm not sure if I'll sub to this game or not so I don't want to join a guild for a week or 2 and then quit until most of the issues are fixed. I also see so many posts in chat from people trying to sell items that having a conversation can be difficult. At least let the Mage, Fighter, and Undaunted guilds have guild stores.

Inventory space. The costs to expand are exponential and you can still easily struggle with room. Mule toons are almost a requirement.

No controller support. 95% of what you need can easily be mapped to a controller and would make the game much more enjoyable to a lot of people. We would still have keyboard handy for the rare times it was needed but that is it.

Glitches, spammers, and bots - no surprises here and since they seem to be working on these issues I'm not holding these issues against them at this time.

I like the game and the combat. The graphics and music are decent. I like how the world changes based upon what you've completed but wish that ESO wasn't so single player focused on many of the decisions they made.

    7.5 out of 10.

    Negatives:

    Bots, bots and more bots.
Inventory micromanagement is driving me crazy. I just get going with a good dungeon and "Your inventory is full" pops up.
Economy sucks. It's hard to know what to sell stuff for and it's hard to find stuff.
Repairs needs looking at. Either reduce the damage suffered when in combat or reduce the costs. Maybe increase the death damage but reduce or eliminate regular combat damage?

    Positives:

    Love the graphics.
Love the character creation and flexibility.
Quests are great-don't feel like I'm killing 10 rats (though sometimes I actually am, lol)
Crafting is great with the exception of Enchanting. Enchanting needs tweaking.

I know it looks like more negatives than positives, but at its core this game is a lot of fun for me. And that's what counts the most (imho).

    6/10

    Bad points:
    - nearly every Cave or Ruin has the same map and some didn´t even get a reskin. A bit disapointing in my eyes
    - Most Npc are just Quest starter, they have no Charackter. I only found one Npc which had humor and was fun to listen to.
    - Citys feel dead there, Npc only react to your. There is nearly no talk between random Npc in the Citys.
    - Too few different Voice actors, fells like every race had 2 Voice actors for every gender
    - Companien AI is horrible, they attack one Enemy and when that one dies they do nothing or stop doing anything in mid battle and than stand in your way -.-
    - You have to choose far to often to sacrifings one Charackter, most anoying thing is they don´t even try to look for another option. Also i believe it the developer wanted it to be a dramatik choice but your hardly know these charakter and most of the time you don´t get the chance to grow to like them which reduces the dramatic choice to just a choice. This Element is over used in the story which also dulls the expiercene.
    - The Story over all is medicore most q are: We have a Problem oh mighty traveler save us or oh mighty traveller fetch me my thing that i left/lost at a random place.
    - hitbox of bigger enemys fells off in close combat
    - the momentary state of dungeons is bad too few exp and bad loot. This makes running them a second time a waste off time.

    Good points:
    - crafting is useful, i can use my crafted gear without fear of finding a better piece of gear from a radom mob.
    - Skillline are a good sytems and easy to add things to it
    - You can explore the map and find thing
    - the game looks and runs smoothly
    - amor design looks good
    - dungeon endcounter are rellay interresting

    wishes for the future:
    - more options to personalise your equip
    - more skill lines
    - more npc that feel alive

As of now, i'll give the game 7 out of 10. It's a rough gem that needs more work to actually shine with the future competition in sight. I'm almost rank 5 with my sword & board/resto staff dk and i'm not sick of the class yet. That's a good sign.

The issues the game has and is facing have been voiced on the boards many times. Zen has to deliver fast and efficiently. Downtimes are inevitable, player outbursts will be seen and more problems will most likely come up. That's the nature of this kind of beast. The next few months will tell what will come of this game.

Grouping/Partnering mechanics are sad and pitiful.

De-syncing from zones is so bad I have to log out and back in at least every 15 minutes just to gather craft matts, let alone actually do any questing.

Costs of everything ingame is ridiculous compared to loot (armor, horses, repair costs, bag space, bank space, etc)

Lack of an AH is just blatantly dumb

Botters, scammers, spammers outnumber actual players

    3 / 10

Several of my real life friends and guildies have already quit and refuse to play again. 2 of us left here ingame, both leaving after the free 30 days if not significantly improved by then.

    .

It is easier to communicate in voice. I'll give you that. But text has its benefits.

Nothing can ruin a game faster for me then some annoying person on the mic. I have had to suffer through hours of listening to drunks spew garbage while doing raids. And I felt my soul die a little more each minute. And it's not so easy to just say leave and find a new guild. Often times there are friendships or other such ties that bind me to a place.

So I'm ok with voice as long as remains an option. But generally I wish people would not try and force party members to participate in voice chat if they do not wish to. Because they do not know of the cruel unabated torture this can be for some of us.
