This has got to be one of the nastiest forum community's I have come across. In every thread I read there are so many flamers and people who just shout others down. I kinda expected more from the eso community.

Try checking out the forums when a game is running. It's always a bit worse during maintenance. Not just trolls, but people frustrated with not being in game and letting their frustration out with their posts.

The forums, in any game, get pretty wild when the game is down and you get a horde of people coming to the forums.

Well said. I also think you will see a different community once those 30 days free time are expired.

I think most people are are pretty respectful, but maintenance days are always the worst. There are always 500 threads about 'HOW DARE YOU MAINTENANCE ON MY DAY', or various and sundry complaint threads about how a game 3 weeks old isn't perfect.

I know its my own fault for letting myself get sucked into those things, but sometimes its hard not to get annoyed at people pissing all over what has the potential to be a great game.

This is what I'm hoping for. I remember thinking the same thing after the SWTOR launch. There was so much anger those first 30 days lol. :D

This is going to seem mean, but it is not intended that way.

Leave the forums. Don't read them.

I agree, it is toxic here atm. I would suggest anyone who does not care for this kind of enviroment to post what you feel you need to post and get the heck out until it becomes a more friendly environment.

This is just a friendly idea. Please do not think I want you to stop posting. Fight the good fight, but if it is too much, just take a break from it all.

    Have a nice day. :)

For whatever reason the gaming community feels MMOs should be tailored to their personal conveniences and game play styles. Almost as if, at some point in time they made a suggestion, it got implemented now they think they have the mic for everything.

I've largely ignored the "mass" community since its mostly trolling, flaming etc, the real gaming community was flooded a long time ago (10+ years ago). Now its just a big troll fest.

If you want a sense of community, "general" online isn't the best place to find it anymore. Join a community, private org, guild, clan whatever. You can still find some without the constant rhetoric, flames and trolls.

    Cheers.

Check out MMO-Champion.com or the Battlefield 4 forums. No shortage of anger or vile in gaming forums.

'HOW DARE YOU MAINTENANCE ON MY DAY', or various and sundry complaint threads about how a game 3 weeks old isn't perfect.

Exactly this; its as if some people have never played an mmorpg before. Constructive criticism on the forums and respectfully pointing out flaws in the games mechanics is good but when people complain about scheduled or unscheduled maintenance I'm baffled at how irrational this is. Please realize people that an mmorpg is always meant to be a work in progress.

You almost have to cringe inside watching the passion of people like Paul Sage talking about giving us Craglorn soon and we can't be grateful. Just because we pay a subscription fee doesn't make Bethesda and Zenimax online employees our slaves.

It's really not so bad in my opinion. I have seen a lot worse.

In any case, I would not support a more heavy-handed moderation. I've already been banned from several game forums for reasons I consider unjust. ^^ And I have quit playing games because of it also.

LOTRO for example will never see another red cent from me because they chose to ban me for reasons they did not even bother to explain.

I'm not sure of the tools this forum offers. But I think the best solution is to allow each individual to be their own moderator and simply ignore posters they find offensive. Heavily moderated forums are dull and lack the activity free speech creates.

This IS the customer support forum - aka Complaints.

But to the In-Game chat, I agree.. it is hard to find a pleasant conversation.
Try logging in and just saying a polite hello - in a zone with a town of high player-traffic.

Just saying "Good day everyon." will get you about 2 normal responses... 5 insults for your spelling, one guy using all caps to post nothing but profanity, and the start of an argument over what a "good" day entails.. with at least a dozen references to sex in the mix.

I'd agree with laissez faire moderation of this was a general discussion forum. Since it is a support forum, ZOS should be pretty vigilant about keeping posts on topic.

This isn't the worst I've seen by any means. I actually try to keep up with these forums because there are some sane points and good information amid the flaming and griping.

By contrast, I go into Steam forums only when I'm trying to find specific information and I get out as fast as I possibly can; and I think you'd have to bribe me a fair amount of money to go back to any forums for any Blizzard game ever again. :p
I have just told you more than I know.

Well, from my experience, if you post on a thread in customer support, but you are against what the OP says (in most cases, not all), and you post your opinion, even when trying to be respectful. Chances are, you are called out for flaming, for trolling, and for being a fanboy.

Not only are these CS forums mainly a house for people who have a self entitlement of WAY to much, it is also a house that has the reputation of: IF your game works, you shouldn't be here on these forums as you are a troll and a flame/fanboi.

I've read these kinds of responses and the likes since beta, and have been attacked myself like this, and really its moronic. The people who seem to have bugs/issue's in game cant seem to take any other opinion besides something that is complaining/whining and hateful torwards ZOS. But the minute someone comes in saying " This bug worked for me this or that way." or something similar, they're immediately harassed and called a troll, flamer, fanboi, and numerous other things.

--**(i do not speak for everybody in this case, but majority of what I have seen, that is what it ends up being, the people who have bugs/issues, have been causing the most problems in forums)

That's why i mainly stay off the CS forums now, as its just a house for the self entitled 10 yr olds. I truely hope that when subs kick in shortly that these immature self entitled spoiled brats LEAVE for good.

Nah, this is kind of normal. You should have seen the SWTOR community for the first six months. It was nothing but war, battle, war, forum PVP, doom, screaming, terror and moderate levels of rage.

    It will even out.
Side effects of reading messages on forums can cause nausea, head aches, spontaneous fits of rage, urination due to intense laughter, and sometimes the death of your monitor or other object in throwing range. If you find that you are reading forums more than 24 hours a day, please consult your nearest temporal physicist.

I agree that this particular forum can become nasty really quick.

I've had nothing but pleasant experiences in the game play forum, though.

People complaining=people getting mean. People playing=people being nice and helping others.

Personally, I try to help out others in chat, as well. Just like some people are helpful IRL and some people are jerks, you can see that happening in chat as well. If I can answer a question, I tend to whisper the answer instead of zoning it, because I feel it helps ensure the person asking actually sees the answer.

But....yeah. I've seen some really mean responses to questions asked in chat. It makes me sort of afraid to ask questions. Personally, this is my first MMO experience, because I've been waiting for this particular game (long time TES player). Not everyone playing has been doing MMO'S since WoW, guys. In the time it takes to type a mean response and tell someone to Google it, you *could* just be awesome and answer the question.

    Just sayin'.

This is actually a calm forum. Maybe because the forum moderators can and will ban you from playing the game if you mess up here.

This forum normally starts calm, but every thread within 5 posts seems to have a post insulting the OP, or someone else. Maybe we should remove the veil of anonymity and require your Credit Card connected to your account at all times, and if you remove information, your account is "temporarily suspended" but you still have your remaining time whenever you reapply information.

This information will be used to identify you, and connect your legal name to your account, along with your city of residence.

This is better than Facebook Validation, except no Facebook so its almost perfect. Anything without facebook is great, but people need to be identified to avoid hit and run insulting.

    Within; Without.

Every game known to man holds the title of worst community ever apparently. I just did a quick google search tbh for "[game] worst forum community". I am sure if I looked at every game this type of thread pops up. When is it actually relevant?

Give me a game forum without this thread. Gamers are a rare breed. The internet is a safe haven for trolls. Play the game, not the forum. You will probably find more useful tips and helpful people online than you ever will in a forum.

TBH My friends avoid gaming forums as it tends to ruin many players experiences in game.

These forums are far from the worst i have seen.

Gaming forums , even more the official forum , are never nice places OP , people disagree , people dont always talk in some calm and contructive manner and all the rest.
