Problem too many transmute crystals?

Transmutation does not use a trait stone. So converting a weapon to nirnhoned and deconstructing it gives you a good chance at Nirncrux.

That's how I've been keeping on top of my transmute stones.

I also do the same, use those mats to craft gear, weapons are good, and sell them. People always need them to deconstruct for research.

Yep, I have a chest filled with 40+ maelstrom bows. That's 1000+ crystals there alone :D

That's the most efficient way to store crystals once you hit the 1000 cap ...

Ohh so every time I reconstruct an item and say I use 36 transmute crystals to recreate an item I get those back if I was to deconstruct the item at any time?

Has anybody tested whether breaking down reconstituted gear always gives you 25 crystals back?

If that's true, then you can always make extra copies of your favorite mythic items. For example, I think a lot of my characters may soon have Rings of the Wild Hunt.

    You can't deconstruct Mythic Gear.

But you can convert it to something that you know all items for (easy ones are arena special bow/resto since there's only 1 to get) Then "store" geodes in those items, at base level they are made (so you don't spend improvement materials)

Can also make untraited weapons, use stones to convert to nirnhoned, and deconstruct for potent nirn.

This is what i do with monster sets. its pretty easy to unlok all of one monster set. then i just make a bunch of helms and store them in storage coffers in my house. I have like 200 helms. If ever I need transmute stones I just decon however many helms i need.

No, you get only the minimum cost of 25 crystals back.

That's why people here recommend arena bows or monster masks - for them, it's pretty easy to get all items in the set, so the cost to reconstruct is 25, and you get all your crystals back.
As soon as your reconstruction cost is above 25, you lose crystals when deconning the item.

I wonder how long before that gets nerfed. Spending basically no transmute crystals to remake items seems like an oversight on ZoS behalf.

Simply make iron weapons, transmute into nirnhoned and deconstruct for the expensive trait stones who can be used or sold.
I tend to store the end of month Cyrodil reward geodes all other goes to gear up alts or nirnhoned weapons then full.
You can also trait change jewelry you want to use later.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    It's not.
You need to use more than 25 crystals to reconstruct high level (CP160) items. You use 25 crystals only at the item's base level. That's why people are saying to reconstruct at base level for storage. You wouldn't do that if you were going to equip the item for use on a CP-level character.

It's not only not an oversight but was an advertised feature of the system.

??? I only reconstruct cp160 gear, else I just craft stuff. Arena bows only cost 25 crystals as they are alone in their group, same with monster sets you have all 6 pieces of. Its even restrictions of this gear so you can not reconstruct many of them below 50.
Lots of dungeon gear you lack most of the weapons so your cost is higher

Run your alts through some PvP a session or two a month. Once you get like 25,000 AP, you get the Rewards of the Worthy that gives you 50 Crystals. Easy to get the AP in a zerg
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Particularly easy if you do it during a double AP event.

Also easy with wall repair, although the cash cost of that is well higher than the implied value for "I have nothing better to do with these than try for a potent nirncrux".

Well if OP is talking about geodes, then I don't think that you can store them. You could try transmuting item to Nirnhoned and then deconstructing them for a chance to get Nirncruxes. Will need the deconstruction recovery passives. That is if all of that still works, been a while since I've had a lot of crystals.

Don't you need a potent nirncrux to start with to transmute it?

no you dont. but you need to have researched the nirn. not 100% return, but i am hearing about 66% or so.
