Transmutation does not use a trait stone. So converting a weapon to nirnhoned and deconstructing it gives you a good chance at Nirncrux.
That's how I've been keeping on top of my transmute stones.

If that's true, then you can always make extra copies of your favorite mythic items. For example, I think a lot of my characters may soon have Rings of the Wild Hunt.
You can't deconstruct Mythic Gear.
But you can convert it to something that you know all items for (easy ones are arena special bow/resto since there's only 1 to get) Then "store" geodes in those items, at base level they are made (so you don't spend improvement materials)
Can also make untraited weapons, use stones to convert to nirnhoned, and deconstruct for potent nirn.
Ohh so every time I reconstruct an item and say I use 36 transmute crystals to recreate an item I get those back if I was to deconstruct the item at any time?

No, you get only the minimum cost of 25 crystals back.
That's why people here recommend arena bows or monster masks - for them, it's pretty easy to get all items in the set, so the cost to reconstruct is 25, and you get all your crystals back.
As soon as your reconstruction cost is above 25, you lose crystals when deconning the item.

I wonder how long before that gets nerfed. Spending basically no transmute crystals to remake items seems like an oversight on ZoS behalf.

??? I only reconstruct cp160 gear, else I just craft stuff. Arena bows only cost 25 crystals as they are alone in their group, same with monster sets you have all 6 pieces of. Its even restrictions of this gear so you can not reconstruct many of them below 50.Grizzbeorn wrote: »

It's not.
You need to use more than 25 crystals to reconstruct high level (CP160) items. You use 25 crystals only at the item's base level. That's why people are saying to reconstruct at base level for storage. You wouldn't do that if you were going to equip the item for use on a CP-level character.
I'm jealous, I never have enough transmute stones and doing 8 RNDs a day for weeks drove me insane

You could try transmuting item to Nirnhoned and then deconstructing them for a chance to get Nirncruxes. Will need the deconstruction recovery passives. That is if all of that still works, been a while since I've had a lot of crystals.
Don't you need a potent nirncrux to start with to transmute it?
