Need Confirmation: Is Motif farming a bannable offense?
Ok we finally need to hear this from the Dev's and I will bump until will get a clearcut answer cause I'm sick of hearing about all the mixed responses, okay Is it bannable to farm Motifs by using the games mechanics? Everyone knows about this by now so I will explain, Going into a house or another area and completely looting the contents from containers, then logging out to the character screen and then returning back to the gameplay will put you in a different shard/sever to which all the containers are refilled, people call this a "clever" use of game mechanics, others call it an exploit, and some even claimed that they have been banned or it is a bannable offense. So Dev's please put this to rest, Is this method of farming bannable or not?

It is true, I guess the question is - what do devs think? I see it as game mechanic, because I believe it was possible o program it other way (to preserve state of some containers between logins for example, lower chance of getting valuable loot and after several relogs, or something like that)Knottypine wrote: »Pretty much anything you do can be interpreted as an exploit by someone.

Etchesketch✭✭✭✭Technically it is. Exploiting a game mechanic to gain in a way not intended by the devs.
If you do something that is obviously outside the game mechanics, like logging in and out to achieve something in game is classic and the reason that rule is there.
The real question, which they won't bother answering is if they will actually do anything about it.

I think they will give some kind of response, you can quote all the other forum topics, point is they are not on the front page, and with all the banning thats been going on lately Id feel better knowing what the "rules" are in regards to this.

I have no idea, but I don't think it actualy resets that fast as a relog... not tried it, but I doubt it... Besides, if someone wants to spend his day looting crates, barrels and what have you... fine by me I'd say... to each his own

The farming has killed motiff's value for all except daedric on ebonheart.1 -

Actually, you have it wrong. Posting something on the forums that contains clear violations of the Code of Conduct, such as flaming, name calling and harassment of other players or ZOS employees is what earns infractions, thread closures and suspensions/bans. It can and does, due to the phasing system. Relogging, especially during peak hours, can easily put you in a new phase each time. I've seen it myself just by transferring things to an alt via the bank.Resistance is not futile! Say no to the Greed Collective™. Boycott Crown Crates.0 -
Most of what you hear when it comes to exploits, are wrong. Farming motifs is just farming. Most console gamers dont know the difference and people to new to mmos don't either. So the answern is no.
But keep in mind at some point they will change the ways that you're able to get motifs to stop people from complaining about this method lol.Brave New World.1 -

Completely wrong, resetting spawn by relogging is an exploit of game mechanics in the classic sense and if they decide to ban for it, they can.
I don't think they will, but it's clearly and exploit and is even the very definition of the term.

Unless I hear it straight from a Dev I'm not inclined to believe anyone else, its weird how they have not commented on these posts, which means the jury might still be out if they considered it an exploit or farming method.
