Missed that by a few years, though perhaps it'll come back if Microsoft forces some cleanup.
Used to be that ESO+ subscribers got free crates for each day that free ESO+ days ran. Also used to be crates came in as daily rewards. Now the only source is snitch drops, which some can't use or get for various reasons. Bottom line is the gambling needs to go. Or we all need to move to Belgium. How much room do you guys got over there?
I was guessing the prices would be between 2.5k-3k. Which I was expecting the highest to be, while expecting the other two to be around 1.8k-2k. The price that would be too much for even me to accept, would be 3k+. As by then the rarity no longer outweights the gemprice, atleast in my opinion.Chilly-McFreeze wrote: »You guys are forgetting these mounts were previously unobtainable!! Compared to the other mounts for 400 gems, and the gem exclusives for 600 gems, this really is in line with what I was expecting. Due to their rarity, and as an incentive to buy crates to get lucky.
Just out of curiosity. At which gem price would you draw the line?
I usually try crates to get every mount/pet from the crates(non radiant/non apex), and end up between 1k-2k gems. By then I decide to just buy those with gems, as they are only 100 gems tops. And the chances to get a radiant apex are practically zero. With the current gemprices for radiant apex's, I would probably buy some more crates to complete the leftover amount. And actually get a radiant apex.

I was thinking starting price around 1000. So 1200 wasn't far off and perhaps a decent price. 1600 is pushing it and 2500 is ridiculous. I feel bad for the people that have no self control. This is going to be a painful and expensive crate run for them.
Chilly-McFreeze wrote: »Another question out of curiosity: how many gems do you guys get per crate? Would be interesting to see how much crates you need and what's that in real money.
If, say, you get 25 gems per 4 crates thats 6,25 per crate.
2.500 / 6.25 = 400 crates
400 crates / 15 á big pack = 26,7
26,7 x 5.000 crowns = 133.500 crowns
133.500 / 21.000 = 6,35 crown packs
Let's say 6 x biggest pack á 125€ = .... not worth it - for me.
Actually, except for one time where ZOS had some limited time house to buy, I always buy crowns for 40% off. The last time I bought ESO+ was a few years ago, when they had their ESO+ sale(only 20 days left now) for 40% off as well. I will probably renew this without a sale though, unless ZOS does a sale anytime soon.Seraphayel wrote: »I was guessing the prices would be between 2.5k-3k. This means you’re basically spending several hundreds of dollars per crate season. I mean, it’s your money and you can do with that what you want, but I find this pretty insane and it’s a reason why ZOS keeps this practice going. You’re spending a four figure sum per year in the cash shop, most likely while you’re keeping ESO+ at the same time - ZOS couldn’t be happier about a customer like you.
Again, it’s your money and your choice and I’m no one to judge you on your spendings. I just find the reasoning / practice behind loot crates despicable, as exactly that happens what you’re describing.
(For a test like this, ZOS should have put every existing radiant apex up for gems for a limited time. As that would give a better understanding of if people are willing to buy radiant apex's like this.)

On the surface, it is nice that ZOS has put these mounts into the store for Gems because some people have accumulated too many Gems and this is a cool way to spend them. Looking deeper, the reason is so that these same people will have more reason to spend Gems, and more reason to buy Crown Crates. Goal: More to spend Gems on, so players are buying Crown Crates simply to farm Gems.
With that accomplished, the next mission is to make sure that the player does not sit on Gems because they are waiting for a specific mount to come up. Fence sitters. That scenario ends in the same place that this whole thing started. Players have accumulated Gems while waiting for that special shiny to spend it on. Goal: Discourage hoarding of Gems, as this can have the effect of reducing sales of the Crown Crates.
If players do not know what is coming, and they see something they like in the store now, they are more likely to buy it. If they are saving their Gems for the glorious return of that special rainbow unicorn mount, they might get all teary-eyed at the current shiny, but not buy it.
ZOS wants them to buy that shiny now. Pile depleted, the player starts building up a new Gem pile so that they can buy the next season's shiny. Repeat. Oh, and when they finally do put that special shiny in the store, buy that, too.
As I see it, that is why they did not put all of the radiant apex mounts into the store for a limited time.
at 1000, it will take you ~150+ crates to make that amount of gems.
Glad I usually dont like the looks of the radiants or the apex for that matter.
