Here's an idea, gonna make some players go oh heck NO!

But obviously this game has phasing. Why not phase the dungeon like they do some towns you fight for?

Like you go to said dungeon do it..then kill Boss. Everything within the dungeon goes NPCs after for 24 hours. Meaning once a day you get to do the dungeon and if you go in before that 24 hours there are NPCs in there (Say explorers or what have you. Or Mage/Fighter NPCs checking out said cave/dungeon).

This may make it hard on players but it makes it harder on the gold spammers and their bots also. Also add more GMs. Apparently Zenimax didn't think this through and it has gotten to a point it going to take some serious hard work to get rid of this hot mess. I mean there where gold spammers and their bots in early access. And they had to know if they even looked at other MMOs this is a problem with every MMO. It looks (sorry if I'm wrong Zeni) as if they thought their game wouldn't get hit with this hot mess, but they did wait far too long to just be able to snap their fingers and it would be gone. This is gonna take a long hard fight and lots of GMs.

What's funny, every time I see a group of bots, there's someone complaining in zone and when you ask if they reported them you get "I don't know how" or "It's not worth it" or "It takes too long" and they wonder why there's nothing being done.

These are usually the same people who complain about people in government but never vote.

Yes the bots suck. Yes they are annoying. Yes it takes a few precious minutes from your gameplay to report them. Heck, I reported 10 in one day. It was annoying as they impeded my progress some, but you know what? I did it and moved on.

If you allow this to ruin your game when there are tons of other things to do so you cancel, I feel bad for you. Hate to see how you act in real life. Do you quit your job because of one annoying person?

Meh. All MMOs have this. I do agree, better measures should have been taken and things should have been put in place before the game came out. But Zenimax is doing something, though not as fast or exactly what people want.

FF14:ARR went through this same thing. I left that game for other reasons, but they are still swarmed with goldspam bots, tells, no mail cause you can only send mail to those on your friend list, bots in dungeons, bots harvesting ... you name it, they're out there.
And as to "bots are everywhere" part - just outlived starter zones and you will see next to no bots. To be fair - while you are low level - you don't need all those blues from boss, which will be replaced in 1-2 levels.

There are bots way into their 30s and in the dungeons ... so, sadly you are incorrect. I was in Rivenspire and there were bots hopping around the wayshrines, under the world, and under the world in instanced areas!

So yes, they know how to get around even the higher leveled places.

If they have active GM`s i`m happy... it shows they are fighting it. Eventually they will catch them faster and faster... 10 accounts is 300-400$, if they can ban them before they make 300-400$ worth of farming they are done. Even if they ban them when they make 500$ it might now be worth it for them as the profit would be tiny.

Let`s all remember who is the real enemy here: the people buying the gold and the people running the bots.

I'm fortunate to have only run into 1 bot whilst playing, like many others who probably started since early access and are now in vet zones. But........

It's naive to say that others are over exaggerating. it's obvious they experience lots and lots of bots. Have some respect and put some value in their problems please. These responses about how your experience was flawless are useless.

However ZoS has claimed multiple times that they are addressing the issue and having lots of work in solving this issue. It's not as easy to solve as you might think and especially not in a couple of days. These botters will do everything in their power to continue doing this. Eventually ZoS will hopefully win this but never completely. It's just as frustrating for them as for it is for us.
Let them do their work. We have seen enough posts about this. they know the issue is there let them do their job and have some patience. Work does actually cost time and money and they don't have an infinite amount of that I'm sure.

If you don't enjoy this game enough cause of this I would advise you to skip about 3 months. When you come back this issue will be massively reduced. Constantly raging about it on the forums will not speed up their progress.

It sucks at this moment I know but all we can do is wait it out or ignore it. Zenimax is on it.

Problems with bots is not a new thing with MMO's. Everyone complains to get rid of the bots or i'll quit.... Remind me what again which MMO doesn't have a botting, gold selling, spam problem?

The reason I don't care? It doesn't effect my game experience. I don't get jealous that bots can do it and i can't....

This is why criminals win, because people like yourselves give up when things get hard. Goto bbb.org and report these businesses to raise awareness, goto the FBIs cyber crime department and report them. Help raise awareness. These chinese botters are not just selling gold to make a profit, they are criminal hackers who data phish, hack account information, steal identities and other cyber crimes. It's everyones lack of action against crime that keep criminals in business. There is alot you can do at your level, report, raise awareness etc...

Obviously the correct course of action is just banning the mobs. Then gold farmers will have nothing to farm. Problem solved! :)

For less than 500 bux a day they could combat a lot of it.

Who wouldnt take 10 bux an hour to be a GM or someone with some abilities to eliminate people and just run around in game and still live in their moms basement?

Hire a few of these guys on 8 hour shifts or whatever and go from there. Or better if they doing a reliable employee search just find a responsible person who likes the game and trade their 8 hour shifts for free sub time.

The reason most companies dont care is because their games always fail and the people eventually leave and so do the spammer and bots. New MMO launches are a cash grab on all fronts from the companies that release the games to the guys selling gold. They do it for a short period of time at inception then they move on and wait for the next game, or go back to WoW or whatever other game has enough people playing it to make selling in game currency worthwhile.

For anyone who has not seen the botting this is some footage I took on Sunday.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ncPxwwZ_KI
THANK YOU for finally posting what people are talking about

I STILL affirm that I have NEVER seen the likes of that. Whether it is something to do with phasing (I am in 3 guilds, although not all that active) or not. And I have revisited several dungeons for the achievements, even if the group boss ones are still broken, and never seen that.

They just need to be more aggressive with phasing as someone said, and remove the boss from those that have killed it in the last hour. Edit - Or a hard cap on loot and exp after the first kill for 24 hours. Would make their "unique" item less about farming for 10 minutes.

THEY ARE CAMPING EVERY BOSS IN EVERY DUNGEON this game has. You cannot find ONE dungeon in this game right now without 10 templar bots in tutorial gear spear spamming the boss. NOT ONE.

    This just isn't true.

In fact, I just went through a dungeon in Stormhaven - the name escapes me at the moment - and there were NO bots and barely any players camping the boss. I killed the boss 3x, got a blue, and got out of there.

    You're being slightly dramatic, imo.

Gotta agree with you. I've been through many dungeons leveling up to VR2, and I haven't seen a single bot in a dungeon. NOT ONE. Lol. I've only seen them standing at wayshrines, personally.

I didnt either until recently when ive been going back to a lot of the lower lvl zones to get all the skyshards and lorebooks i had missed but i can tell you that they are everywhere. I was shocked tbh. I didnt need those mobs anymore but i can really feel for the people just getting the game and leveling up now. Must be really really annoying.

ZOS needs to focus on gold BUYERS more than the bots/sellers. Were a strategy implemented that stopped the buyers, the bots would go *poof*

Perhaps ZOS could implement its own bots that did nothing more than monitor gold held cumulatively on all accounts. Whenever a plus variance occurs that's outside a reasonable threshold the respective accounts are flagged.

I'm assuming there's a set of tables in the backend that temporarily records player in-game transactions. Even I could setup a monitor that flagged gold transactions outside reasonable parameters.

Fact of the matter is, so long as gold buyers exist the game is in a pay-to-win status. If ZOS cannot get the gold sellers/buyers under control, they may as well open up a cash shop that provides all the things lazy-arsed, pimple-on-the backside-of-humanity players purchase with their ill-gotten gold. Yeah, I know this is a way far from satisfactory solution, but at this point anything that curtails botting and third-party gold selling is a plus.

This is the basis for most misconceptions on fighting bots - the bot companies no doubt use stolen credit card info when paying for the new accounts, and so have NO investment. Any profit from a bot no matter how little is profit. Multiply that little profit by 1000's or 10000's and you have a lot of profit - rinse and repeat.

Eventually we will all be billionaires so there will be no market to buy/sell gold.

Here's an idea If Zos gave everybody 1 mil each or lowered prices we could all afford to buy in-game items like bank slots, horses, WW/Vamp bites, racial motifs and copper which would make all of the impatient people happy, kill the trade and gold chat spam (which would make me happy), and stop the invading bot army, so we could get back to Molag Bal's army and just play the game.

I know its a radical idea, but basic economic theory says "if you increase supply you can reduce costs and demand" Zos must have a least one person with a business degree working for them. You don't need to be a genius or an engineer to figure this out and it would free up the programmer's from focusing on bots to focusing on bugs, glitches and exploits to make Tamriel a better place.

Sorry but if you increase the total amount of money people have by let's say 10x. Items will be sold for 10x what's it worth now. Yeh farming will be less valuable if items still sell for 40ish in npc shops. But a vampire bite will be like 400.000 gold. Money will just be worth less per amount.

That was when my wife and I cancelled our accounts.

What a silly reason to cancel an account. The problem will eventually be fixed, it's only been a couple weeks.

The bot problem bothers me. Every time I go into a dungeon they are there camping the boss. The thing is, I think the time that I've been in dungeons counts for less than 1% of the time I spend in the game doing other stuff. So, how could such a minor problem cause you to cancel your account.

I understand that there is a slightly elevated chance to get a blue reward from a dungeon boss, but really, I get plenty of blue rewards just killing everything in front of me on my way from point A to point B. More than if I had gotten a blue from every boss I might have encountered, I might add.

The only thing that really bothers me about the bots is that it sometimes takes me awhile to get enough damage credit to complete the dungeon, otherwise no biggie.

Side effects of reading messages on forums can cause nausea, head aches, spontaneous fits of rage, urination due to intense laughter, and sometimes the death of your monitor or other object in throwing range. If you find that you are reading forums more than 24 hours a day, please consult your nearest temporal physicist.

I use to report. But I am sorry I am paying to play, not be a bot police. The report system is clunky and fills my real e-mail with thank you spam. And if they show more fight against the bots (which I am seeing only a tiny bit) then maybe. But I will not pay 15 dollars a month being bot police and not playing a game I paid for, this is not my job..I am not getting paid to spend my time reporting the army of gold spammers and their bots. It is that bad. I would never be able to play if I bot/gold spammer policed the game.

If they made it easier and stopped sending two emails for every one bot/gold spammer I reported. Just a click and report would do fine. Or even a GM tab where I could put gold spammer or bot in the title and click submit.

Otherwise they are wanting me to pay to do their job.

They need to create a "bot phase" of the entire game. When a GM discovers a bot, banish the account to the "bot phase" and don't let them trade with anyone outside of the bot phase.

That way they can keep collecting their money from the farmers, the farmers can poison the economy and it will slow them down from figuring out they are actually banned and opening a new account to poison the the live server.

I recreated my alt 2 days ago and I always taking the tutorial as well, because I get 3 lvls and 1 skyshard. During the tutorial, you will see ARMIES of bots running out. Its so funny and scary, because bots choose the tutorial quest as well!

And thats strange, bots doing quests? Or someone plays them for 10 min and then they come into automatic? They all have strange names, thats how I recognize that these are bots.

Okay, so is it unlike suspecting that a young kid is up to no good because he is walking with a bag of skittles, an ice tea, and a hoody pulled over his head?

The point is that he shouldn't be forced to change his play style because others are botting.
