What's the worst gear grind you've ever done in ESO?

✭✭✭Divines. Heavy. Monster Helm. It doesn't matter which one it was at the time, but back before Transmuting, getting your hands on the right monster helm from a boss was a pain in the ass. I think it took me 6 months once to get the right helm, obviously not running the same dungeon over and over as quickly as possibly, but of running the dungeon 2-4 times a day, at least 5 times a week.1 -

@nukk3r I guess you are kidding, right? There is an unique frost staff [Drodda's Boreal Staff] which drops very often.
I guess nothing come close to BSW inferno staff as back in the days there were no trait change and no group trading.Because I can!0 -

✭✭I once used one key to open undanted chest to get shoulders for Llambris set. (I think I got the helmet when I got abducted to a run by guildies after asking help for a boss with mechanic in some normal I was soloing.)0 -
wheresbes✭✭✭✭I'd like the Rattlecage and Medusa staves and I'm not done yet.
During one run I got 2 RC lightning staves (yay!) and then... nothing. Medusa seems to have an even worst drop rate
Now I've stopped grinding because that's an awful activity to do in-game for me, I'd rather do quests. If I feel like it, upon login I solo either dungeon with my toe fingers crossed and that's about it. I thought to ask one of my guilds to do a run together, but I can't be bothered to swap gear and skills for one run only (in dungeons I tank) and I'm ashamed of my DPS so... one year from now I'll probably have what I'm looking for lol0 -

Maelstrom lightning staff. I want that for my healer guy and it's freakin painful. I dunno why but I always have a better luck on getting inferno staff but lightning.... I got all kind of inferno staff usually whitin couple of runs -Medusa, BSW, FG, Master Architect, Vateshran, Maelstrom, and BRP but dang lightning staff. I'mm still farming it and its probably more than 30runs by now... I wish i could exchange10 infernos to lightning.0

That was a good move!
For me it was: Lokke daggers which took months; BSW inferno--I don't even remember how long; Amberplasm jewellery, which was made even more painful because it was through PUGing; the fishing lead from Artaeum took 8 straight hours of fishing; and the last river fish in the Rift that I needed for Master Angler, which it took two weeks.1 -

✭Spell Power Cure took FOREVER. I needed the jewelry, so I ran it on vet a lot. Also farmed IC for key fragments to unlock the vault, desperately seeking the SPC frost staff. I never found the frost staff, not sure it actually exists, so my healer runs with two healing staff's instead.

illusiouk✭✭✭BSW inferno Staff was a bad grind, months of grinding those dungeons that it got to the stage I would just solo COA 1 a handful of times a night then when it finally dropped I was in the process of starting an alt, and the first time I played in that dungeon with the alt it dropped again. It's all just in the hands of the RNG gods.0 -

Then deciding I hated it after screwing around with them. Not good enough with stam to make use of the axe properly,and the staff,while powerful..just seemed..blegh to me.

Raegwyr✭✭✭✭Worst grind is definietely any vMA full set like winterborn. Chance of getting your weapon is equal to 1,28% (you need to do the whole run as weapons drop only from last chest). Just in comparision for chance for getting the specific weapon from last boss in dungeon is around 2,22%. You can also loot chests in dung that have a chance to drop a weapon so in reality your chance is closer to 4% if you loot all chest and all of them give purple items. And that applies to full group0
