What's the worst gear grind you've ever done in ESO?

My wife and I are about 15 hours (over a few weeks) into a farm for Worm lightning and frost staff respectively. We always only go with 2 other players who would give us the staves if they dropped. Neither staff has dropped for any player in what is probably 40-50 runs. We both have every other Worm weapon stickerbooked.

Take your pick. The worst grind is the one that you get bad RNG for. The grind is why I don't even go for some of the specialty items. The grind takes all the fun out of it and takes too much time, so I play with the best stuff that's easier to get and save myself the pain of grinding.

I've never grinded much, I was lucky with my Pale Order Ring. My Ebon Wolf Mount wasn't bad either. So far, after 4 runs of White Gold Tower, all I've managed is the head and shoulders of Spell Power Cure, the pieces that my monster set occupy 🤣

nah all boss helmets would drop from the end bosses,even ones like bloodspawn,a boss set based off the first major boss.
But the chances of actually getting one to drop was......low.

1) VMA Inferno staff back when you got a weapon drop once every 5 runs or so, let alone not being able to transmute the prosperous trait that dropped for you.

2) Perfected VCR sets because you really have to clear +3 to get a decent amount of perfected gear. Not being able to get a body piece unless you clear +1 hinders a lot of people from getting the perfected versions.

3) Perfected False God Inferno staff. I still have people in my group that are looking for this guy.

Lightning staff of the Ice Furnace set. Not only do I have my entire Ice Furnace collection full except for that one last staff, I also have Hulking Draugr complete now and am only one weapon away from completing Magicka Furnace as well. I have already gotten the mythic lead for Snow Treaders even though I wasn't looking for it. I've spent 4 entire days grinding there with no success. And the worst part is that the Inferno and Ice staff are useless to me. It has to be the lightning staff because the build I planned uses only AOE abilities.

I have been grinding by playing as a stage 4 vampire with fellow stage 4 vampire friends, invis-sprinting past all the bosses, pulling the lever and then skipping straight to the last boss, killing no NPC aside from the ones guarding the chests on the way. My time spent there has been spent very efficiently, but still I have not gotten that weapon.

I swear, this game is taunting me. All I ever wanted from the perfected versions is a lightning staff, because that's the only one I front-bar on my healers. But no ... this is really eating into my enjoyment of the game.

AY daggers from HRC a few years ago. It took 72 runs to get the first and the 2nd followed a few runs after that. I doubt I've been back more than a couple times since then.

Maelstrom fire staff didnt drop for ages, I eventually decided to level a stamina DD instead.
When the perfected version was introduced the non-prefected version dropped on my first run.

Advancing Yokeda dagger took me quite some time, now its time to farm the maul.

Currently I am farming the Medusa fire staff I just do the dungeon twice each day so its less boring.

I got really lucky with a BSW fire staff which dropped during a pledge.

vMA inferno staff in the first run though.

The Alkosh lightning staff I have took around a year to a year and a half to get, I think. Possibly longer.
It also took months of grinding Arx (wasn't counting the number of runs) before a Medusa inferno dropped. Almost managed to fill the sticker book for all the other pieces before that. Still don't have the right Siroria pieces, either, so I'm stuck with using Medusa on jewelry/weapons.

My Perfected Siroria Fire Staff evaded me for a long time. I finally offered someone a million gold when one dropped on a pickup run. It was pretty clear others wanted it, and I just wanted to be done. That was give or take a year ago, and I had not been back in VCR until last week.

My first run back was a VCR+1, and A perfected inferno in precise dropped for me. All I could do was laugh and give it to a guildie. Made both our days. Haha

I still don't have an AY necklace. I am a hoarder and couldnt even begin to guess how many times I have run HRC HM.

BSW inferno staff took me months to get, I was also farming the BSW divines light set and got every piece before the staff dropped.

I am currently farming a Frozen Watcher armor set from DoM (just up to 3rd boss and chests) chests dont seem to spawn much and the drops have been everything but what I want.

The gear grind is super easy now. When the game first launched you couldn't trade bound sets between players in a trial or dungeon. Retraiting and sticker book didn't exist either so you had to brute force grind for traits and when the person next to you got the drop and didn't need it you were just SOL. I did WGT sooooo many times grinding a somewhat usable SPC set

Chests spawn in weird places in DoM.

Yeah, my Mending/SPC healer still has some absolutely bizarre gear arrangement from back in the day. (Pre-Summerset, I used to complete it with Mending shoulders, though that did get changed.

and so I got that SPC and the traits were trash ofc so I ended up wasting all my crystals to change traits on 4 out of 5 pieces of armour

...and a week later I got full Olorime

If it's any relief, SPC is bis again since a couple patches ago.
