You keep saying there are no angels in ES but I keep seeing Angel Wings....

I will get a reply but there are no angels and I will reply bit there are angel wings then you will reply but there are no angels ... and I will reply but there are angel wings... shall we go on?

What doest the outfit system and poor looking armour sets in eso had to do with a skill showing a 3d visual effect over the top of my armour?

All 3 templar ultimates suck... in looks and power... mostly power. So underwhelming.

I love templar. My first character (and the one on which I'm working on 100% OW completion) was a stamplar, and though I have one of, just about, everything, templar is by far my favorite class.

I leveled a magplar to 50 long ago, and am currently leveling another one (Breton instead of Altmer), and having so much fun. I couldn't get into the first one I made, but I'm treating this one more like a melee class, and am having much more fun.

I've always thought subjective threads like this should be removed. The whole thing seems like bait for those who disagree. There is no right or wrong, but that won't stop people from trying to convince others.

I guess what most of us are trying to say is, we like the way Templars are "boring" and don't want suggestions like yours changing them into something we don't care for. They're good how they are. (Aesthetically, anyway)

Is it really so bad to have a more elegant and understated aesthetic to a class? Is there some mandate that everything must be flashy and dramatic all the time? I mean, a lot of their abilities' visuals are already pretty bright and distinctive...

Seems like most of us just don't share your vision for what Templars should look like. And you seem to be really stuck on only considering your own viewpoint on things.

You're obviously just eso fanbogs who are accepting lack of inspiration and class design and defending it blindly.

We like oring said no one ever... seriously you lie boring? Come on guys wtf. Di t say thay to every future development ever or they will be putting all the best stuff in thousand pound lootbkxes... oh wait... eso did thag already. Gogogo defend lootboxes now! Because I guarantee you love them.

Less is more. TES games notably are toned down and not over the top in aesthetics, alien but not over the top.

Also Templars have a focus on Aedric themes, not Christian themes.

Aedra are more abstract with a focus on concepts of Light and Sun.

Dragonknights have wings because they’re emulating dragons.

Wardens have a focus on nature and concepts related to Kynareth (hence wings)

Necromancers are using death magic, the Bone Goliath I’d consider reminiscent of becoming a Lich.

The ideas you are bringing up for Templar’s have nothing to do with Aedric magic.

You do realise that wings doesn't equal angel wings? A lot of animals and creatures in Elder Scrolls have wings. Kynareth often have wings in her symbols, but it's more related to birds, because the sky and wind.

I am holding out on hope the Templar gets some reworks.

Jabs needs to be relooked at with the CP changes or we are going to lose more damage on them.

    Passives need a complete rehaul/rework

Sun Shield needs to be reworked, completely useless.

    POTL needs some love.

EDIT: Ultimates need buffed or reworked to feel like... well... Ultimates.

Returning to the game and creating a new character... after having previously played ALL classes (except Necro), I chose to create a Magplar! Having played all the other classes, it is the ONLY class IMO that can seriously DPS -and- heal at the same time... and I can quickly switch to full healer in a blink. They have amazing versatility and like others have said, one of the few classes that can solo world bosses. People that talk about other classes that are better at healing... what... Templars have access to Restoration staff skills too!! :p Yet, we don't NEED them. We can dual destro staff and still do decent healing.

Any class can solo world bosses. Look up Hack the Minator on YouTube and chose a build. All classes can heal. Dragon Knight as just as good as a full heal if not better than Templar.

The class is far from peaches as you claim while wearing rose gold glasses playing the class.

Angels are Western culture thank you not Asian or have you not played a single Western RPG in the last 25 years?

What he means ia that it doesn't fit the theme of TES games and he is right.

In what way does it not fit? A Necromancer can turn into a 30 foot tall bone demon, I've never seen that in an es game before. Wardens have perma pets and dragon Knights can fly and whip people woth larva whips...

Are there any angels in TES?

I'll tell you what class is boring: it's the necromancer. At least from a stamcro perspective, it's just blastbones, dizzy swing, and executioner. Man, it's a new class that doesn't really bring anything new on the stam side.

I still abide by the idea of less is more that was mentioned earlier.

As has been pointed out, angelic motifs may be present, but that's not the same as having actual angels. It's also notable that said angelic motifs belong to Meridia, who is one of the settings' equivalents of a demonic god, rather than the more 'traditionally' God-like Aedra.

As a decorative feature, you'll find that wings in general are popular on helmets and shoulders, especially among the elves because of their preference for avian motifs as opposed to angelic. If you want a 'traditional', (Albeit unglowy), golden appearance, you might be well-served looking there.

Ultimately, I feel you are asking for something that is out of place within the Elder Scrolls setting. You say they aren't flashy enough, others among us say that they're too flashy as is. There are others still, I'm sure, looking on and wondering what we're all on about 'cause it's all fine as is.

At the end of the day, such flashy magical motifs are out of place and inconsistent with adventurers and soldiers throughout the Elder Scrolls setting, which is traditionally more grounded as other people have mentioned.

I respect your opinion that you prefer flashy effects and angelic motifs on your characters ala traditional depictions of Paladins in more modern media. I would ask that you in turn respect the opinions of others who don't want that level of flair within the setting for themselves.

I feel that you are too firmly entrenched in what you want to budge, just as I and others are too firmly entrenched in our own beliefs. Perhaps it might be best to let it lie, as I am doubtful we're ever really going to reach a happy medium or consensus on the topic, and I fear that it may devolve into needless faeces-slinging.

It would be nice if Zenimax would give us a set of toggles so that we can decide for ourselves how much flair we see on the screen, both for aesthetic reasons, and for the more practical ones that I outlined earlier that are more specific to me and others like me... but sadly I can't see that happening.

Finally, I would like to ask... What is it that you are hoping to achieve?

Agreed. I'd prefer to keep Eastern MMO themes away from Western MMO themes. There are hundreds of Eastern style MMOs out there for people who are into that sort of thing.

This sneering about lore is silly, as it is all based on writing and writing is based on real life.

There is no "lore," there is just what the developers are trying to put in their game. That they add or not add certain things is regardless of any in-game excuse for what is added.

Their skills all look almost the same on the hot bar but the look of the skill themselves are soo underwhelming compared to the other classes especially the newer 2 classes. It's just all gold blobs of light, Where's the Angel Wings? the Golder Armour? The Holy Fire and so on... the most unique thing we have is a Spear jab which lets me honest could have looked far better than it does, when we armour buff we should get holy armour on our char like the necro gets bone armour and the warden gets ice... templar doesn't half look like crap.

I don't even have a templar but their skills look more satisfying then necro bouncing skull or stupid warden sky diver

What are you guys on about? Magplar is the best class for added utility. Good damage, good class heal, purge if needed.

They are just hating on the stylish simplicity of efficiency and grace. Personally, I don't care about the special effects as long as the skills keep the character up and active.

    IMHO

A Conjured Spear of Aedric Light magic makes sense

I have yet to see a reason for Templars to have "wings" that is supported by the lore.

Meridia is Daedric not Aedric. Templars are using Aedric Magic, not Daedric Magic.

Now if you asked for a Merdia Memento then sure that would make sense to emulate Wings of Light like Meridia

A rogue using and being magika based to me in not the most thematically...... looking class in the game neither is a holy warrior that looks lame lol.
An magic rogue however makes perfect sense in elder scroll, invisibility is kind of nice trying to hide.

Templar name is kind of stupid, I see them as an melee class who is good at healing, themselves for one but also others.
Spell strategist, zaan and SPC is one of my setups as an DD / heal.

I agree warden is a but messed up, too tied to Morrowind who makes no sense, feel like an Bosmer thing, secondary Nord or Khajiit not Dunmer.
However Necro is pretty well put together in my opinion.

Would have been great if the templar was made like a warrior priest in warhammer online where you are a melee healer and as you melee attack you heal those around you. No game ever or since warhammer has ever done this and it was the most fun healing I've ever played....

Age of Connan. Bear Shaman. Released about the same time. Aoe heals and buffs from melee. Played and loved both games.

Sorcerer seems the most complete one. Old fashioned class. Particle effects, animations, wide variety of supremely creative well executed skills, audio is great too.

Mages guild/Psijic Order/Sorcerer skill line are my favorite along with the Destruction Staff. Raw ultimate Magicka ,but true Magicka, Templars are but pretenders. Use flashy things for Master Wizards.

Always such a surprise see that name show up, was a long time ago I played that. Completely forgot about healing there. Don't all healers work like that in AoC? They buff and throw area healing, but also dps a lot. Played a Tempest of Set mainly, and was pretty much the same thing. Just more snakes and lightning.

All 3 templar ultimates suck... in looks and power... mostly power. So underwhelming.

I see wings. Not necessarily attached to angels. Wings on helms....eagle/gryphon wings, bird wings, dragon wings....more of those to be seen in-game than angels. Just because you are seeing angels everywhere doesn't mean there are angels everywhere.

And again you're baiting with "absolute statements". In your opinion the armor and outfit systems are "poor-looking". This game really doesn't seem to be living up to your expectations of bling, glitter, angels, and overpowered classes. This may not be the ideal game to spend your time in due to the constant bitter disappointment. And clearly you should not waste your time playing templar.
