Templar Look Boring...

Their skills all look almost the same on the hot bar but the look of the skill themselves are soo underwhelming compared to the other classes especially the newer 2 classes. It's just all gold blobs of light, Where's the Angel Wings? the Golder Armour? The Holy Fire and so on... the most unique thing we have is a Spear jab which lets me honest could have looked far better than it does, when we armour buff we should get holy armour on our char like the necro gets bone armour and the warden gets ice... templar doesn't half look like crap.

Yeah playing necro healing everything is fun to use and seem to work well but templar its like breath of life and shards and maybe 1 more for resistance then everything else is shared skills.

I'll be honest. The lack of flair for the Templar skills is one of the things that drew me to it. I would rather be be able to see the character I made and the outfit I put together, not see it all vanish beneath all manner of special effects that, while fitting for MMOs, feels horrendously out of place for Elder Scrolls for me. The only time I've seen similar, off the top of my head, in one of the main games was with the Dragon Shouts in Skyrim, and that was dependent on the character being a once-an-age quasi-divine being with reality-bending powers... not am adventurer that, while holding the potential for power, is still just an adventurer in Tamriel.

Of it were up to me, all of the buffs and attacks in the game would have much more grounded appearances, rather than turning every battle into a Disco laser show.

Edited for spelling because phone and uno-ordinated thumbs.

    I ❤ my stamplar.

He has a super easy rotation which my old brain can cope with so I can hit hard and take part in vet trials and dungeons without being carried.

So leave the templars alone, you may not like it but he is the one character I go back to again and again because he is such an easy play, which means I can concentrate on learnings mechs, etc without having to worry about my damage output

The solar ball is ok looking but just a yellow ball lol

Heal ultimate... the most underwhelming skill I've seen in 20 years. just spats of thin yellow lines coming from you... this should be the moment you go all holy nova, look like a angel or whatever nope poof we spew a few silly looking lines out of us into the air onto people, compare this with warden ultimate heal for example where you grow a cool little forest.

Might be worth pointing out that, as far as I can tell, the OP was referring more to the appearance and artwork of the Templar abilities rather than their gameplay functions. Have already set out my opinion above.

Edit to add: There are also other reasons for my preference for the more subdued Templar effects. As someone on the Autistic Spectrum, one of the things I have to deal with is sensory overload. Partaking in large scale activities is very difficult for me precisely because of all of the special effects overloading me and making it very difficult for me to see what's going on or spot telegraphing in PvE encounters.

In an ideal world, there would be a toggle between simplistic spell effects and fantastical spell effects to cater either to said mental abilities or to those who prefer the more grounded look, but alas, it's not exactly practical right now. Would give the crowds the effects they prefer.

Odd lol because Templars and Paladins as Holy and Divine warriors should be the biggest Flair going there is lol.

To each their own. I actually love the looks of templar skills the most lol. The healy ultimate you find so underwhelming is imho second best-looking ulti in game (first is hands down Dragon Leap) - I mean, you just start your prayer and its subtle magic heals everyone, what can possibly look better than that? Nova is too flashy for my taste, Crescent Sweep is perfectly fine (it is not meant to be a big flashy ultimate too, it looks its part exactly). Blazing shield holy glow, Channeled Focus holy rune, subtle yet oh so needed Purifying Ritual, the jabby jabs...I think they all look super awesome, am so happy they didn't overdo them, it's just too bad they're mostly so underwhelming far as actual gameplay goes these days :/

So you care just about visuals and not about the skills? Have you ever tanked a dungeon with two templars in a group? It's so bright, it can literally hurt your eyes. But honestly, if you want over the top animations and FX, consider trying out some Korean games.

Dragons are a thing in TES lore, angels are not. DK's power comes from Akaviri martial arts, they learned dragon magic from dragons. Warden's wings are probably linked to Kynareth. The only creature in Aurbis that has angel-like wings is Meridia but templar's powers come from Stendarr. It won't make any sense lore-wise. So if you want angel wings for purely cosmetic value, you should look for them in more eclectic franchises.

Ah yes, those are mainly known for their necromantic animations.

As far as templars go, when I played one I found jabs to be pretty exciting, then they also have jabs. You can also cleanse some things, and heal yourself with jabs. And do nice AoE by using another skill, jabs... it's not my class I think.

Lol, there are so many other classes I'd bring in terms of utility for a PvP group before I'd even consider a magplar. The only valuable utility magplar brings for a group is purge. In terms of raw healing power and utility, magsorc, magden, magcro and magden are all leagues superior than magplar (and for healing, nightblade with the right build will outshine templar as well). Damave wise magplar are also pulling the short straw. Magplar is a shadow of its former self and lacks so many things in so many areas. If it weren't for mistform, procsets, malacath and hp regen sets, the class would be completely irrelevant in the current PvP meta.

In PvP, you can tell how skilled enemy templars are by dodging through them when they jab, the quicker they turn around the better they are. I'm not even joking about that one.

I like my Templar skills and don't care what they look like at all. When I heal for a group I am never short of resources even when over-healing and keeping buffs/debuffs up constantly. The only problem I run into is if my fingers fail me and I get off my rotation. Okay sometimes I forget a mechanic or am not paying attention but that is on me and not the character.

I can solo most world bosses and can be fairly tanky when needed with just minor adjustments. There might be better healers, maybe and there are better DPS and tank classes but for an all around character Templar skills are tough to beat.

If you want the flair load up a few mementos and go to town!
