Gambling has no place in a computer game, especially one in which kids well below the age of 18 participate in, en mass.

That said, I tend to buy 1 or 2 15 crate packages per year, using a combination of crowns purchased when on offer, and the crowns awarded via ESO+ Subscription. So in this respect, I am part of the problem. Thankfully I can afford this and have no financial or psychological issues with spending money on one of my hobbies like this.
Others are not so lucky, kids, those in poverty or struggling financially and very much those prone to gambling psychology/addiction. [snip] By all means make money, put things up for purchase, but not via a gambling mechanic.

You are directly part of the problem. Congrats!

Nope. I meant what I said. If they let people buy the specific radiant apex they want outright, whether with crowns or gems, it would make them *stop* buying crates. The buyer would have gotten what they wanted, and wouldn't need to buy more. I've linked the threads before in other threads about this, if the people could have bought the mount they wanted, they would NOT have spent several thousand dollars trying to get it. As long as people are willing to spend their money, this isn't going to change.

They only intend to sell them to those who can afford to buy them. Some of us won't be in that group of consumers. The same principle applies here....if EVERY ESO player can get something, then the value of that item drops, and it no longer becomes rare. It is in ZOS's best interest as a for-profit company to keep certain items behind varying levels of exclusivity, otherwise those who are able to meet the requirements for exclusivity won't feel how exclusive it is...and loses that status thus loses it's value.
This would also eliminate the gambling aspect of these boxes, since you can get everything for crowngems. Probably even enough to avoid legal issues, as more and more countries are going to make laws for gambling boxes.
if you do the math....at 10 gems per crate average....
Cause I got 60 crates ang got 600 gems with 1 apex and 1 radiant
at 400 crates to get one radiant ... which is .25%
one Radiant apex is worth 4000 Gems
This is exactly why players never will be able to get radiant apex mounts another way. This is exactly why ZOS will never consider to make the change you suggest.(...)
Even if you spend 500 dollars there is still no guarantee drop... (...)
I would suggest that they let people buy radiants in crates from 2-3 years ago (these are old blurry textured things that aren't worth gambling on). Instead of wasting a rerun on these old crates, just let people buy them with gems and re-run a newer crate that is worth gambling on.
I love the two I have from old crates - the green dwemer wolf and electric scalecaller horse. None of the newer ones look half as good to me. Well, maybe the blue spore wolf. The only other apex mount I actually want is the black dwemer panther, so also old.
