Could an one-time class change for older characters ever be a thing...?

I am curious here. My main character I play the most in the game is my oldest character who I have been using since the beginning of playing ESO... Which was long before the "One Tamriel" update. I did keep taking massive long breaks from the game granted but I still manage to do nearly everything with this one character be it dungeons, overland content, collection stuff, all crafting skills maxed, and much more... Things which would take probably over a thousand hours of game time to redo to completion again, -AND- a year of real life time (due to trait researching)...

However, I do strongly believe now he would be better as a Warden instead of a Templar due to how I play him, but I sadly cannot change nor is it my fault for him being a Templar over a Warden (cause again, he was made long before Vvardenfell came out and back when we only had the four base classes). So, would it be fair to ask for some kind of one time class change for older characters whom didn't had the chance to pick a newer class?...

Honestly, at this point, I'll say "why not?"

The only thing is that anyone that buys a class change token will have to sign a waiver barring them from ever posting "Class X was nerfed so ZOS can sell class change tokens" on the forums ever again (or adding to such threads).

I wouldn't mind but I think you should be required to level all the class skills from the beginning.

I'm with Kargen in this one. If ZOS does allow class change tokens you have to level up the three new skill lines you'll have access to.

I also approve this, leveling a new character isn't a problem and it can be done very fast and easy. But achievements and mount system is what I don't like doing again.

Sure, people won't buy mount speed if people change the class, but I think ZOS will profit more with change class token. It would also encourage players to buy warden or necro class if they don't have it.

If they are scared with class unbalance and actually losing money on horse upgrades, then make it a bit expensive and once per character.

I don't have a horse in this race. I'm an altoholic, and I don't care about having "just one character". In fact, I find that sort of thing far too limiting.

I love having 72 slots for characters. That lets me have everyone who's ever walked into my head saying "MAKE ME NOW! Right now!" Which, yeah.... I do.

I also agree we should level class skills from scratch, however, as AlnilamE suggested, if Class Change Tokens as a remedy for future nerfs, the game should memorize class skills we already levelled in past so, for example, if I change my Nightblade to Templar and then back to Nightblade, I wouldn't need to level up Nightblade's skills again.

If you have a load of spare crowns sitting in your bank or are willing to buy them, then levelling a new Character takes 24 hours....

...because you can purchase all the skyshards (provided you have unlocked them on a previous char) and the guild, undaunted and Alliance skill lines which ordinarily would take you weeks if not months to level up.

I'm all for this. I didn't have a choice of picking necro at the time. (Also picked a class I don't enjoy that much.) Sure you can buy skill points with shards but all your quest progress, crafting progress (which is the worst part imo.), and achievements cant be done. Some achievements are bugged or changed over time to be much harder for example.

    Tldr, I'd pay for that.

Not really into the class change idea, I play a stamplar, I could if I wanted morph to magplar. There are some achievements that I'll probably never be able to access as a stamplar, but I can live with that. If I could do them as a magcro would I be tempted to swap him to magcro and then back again? I don't know, and I don't want the option to find out.

I don't understand why ZOS not allowed class change. I think they afraid that if one class after patch will become OP all player will change to that class, but players for whom minmaxing is important already have characters for all classes in both stamina and magicka and they just switch when they needed, so this restriction is pointless, from my point of view. But casual players who stick to their character, achievments, quest progression can't change class when they want, by changing class this casual players could prolong thier enjoyment of the game, try new things, continue play game and some continue to spend money, but without class change they can be just bored, or find themself in situation when they want to try new class, which can fit them better after patch, but don't want to start all over again. And casual player will not change thier beloved character to new class only because of some patch changes.
So in summary minmaxers anyway have all needed characters and casual players will not bother change class only because of patch, so ZOS shooting themselves and all casual players in the leg with this restriction.
I, for example, have only one char, vampire Dragon Knight(claws and wings for vampire RP), but after Greymoor changes ZOS almost forced vampires to play as NightBlades, and I would try, but can't, i don't want to lose achievments, dyes, quest progression and name of the character.

ZOS should make achievements and mount training account wide like they do with collectables, and this wouldnt be an issue. Level a new character up to 50 and boom you're good.

I mean... Leveling up class skills aren't a problem for me. I just don't want to redo literally the whole entire game all over again on my main.

Same. I don't mind re-leveling the class skills. That's easy and fine.

This would be a cool option. I made my main a sorc and have been playing it since day one, and working on completing everything in game with it I can. Sure, I have 17 alts, for various niche purposes, like a tank, healer, stam dps, and various class pvp types. But my Main is the one I care about earning achievements and completing content on. Unfortunately, when I bought and started the game, Necromancer did not exist. Had it existed at the time, the past 4+ years would have been spent on a Necromancer main rather than a sorc. And there is a zero percent chance that I am going to do 4 years worth of content and time to re-main a new character. It's nonsense.

Exactly my position. Played sorc at the time but would run necro if I had a choice.

But all of the time I am repeating the same content on an alt is time I am unable to finish achievements on the main. It doesn't really matter if you don't get it. When/if the time comes when class change is possible, just don't do it. It will have literally zero impact on anyone who doesn't use it.

I'm against an easy class change... as this would have players simply follow the flavor-of-the-month builds.

But a system like quoted below would be awesome, and suit all of your needs as well(class change):
I would like to see something like a rebirth system. Where we keep our progress/achievements/skillpoints, but start at level one again. Maybe something offered by Azura, as a reward. Where in the rebirth we can pick a different class, or upgrade our existing class with one skillline from another class. A skillline which we can manually pick. Allow us to rebirth multiple times(only at level 50), where each time we can replace the skillline we choose in the previous rebirth, to another skilline. Or simply remove the extra skillline, and change our base class. This gives players an endless progression system, and allows players to change how their base class plays drastically with some really neat added options.

Achievement completion is a moving target, purposefully. And I do get it but choose to let go of any completionist compulsions I might have on alts. I would consider class change in some circumstances as long as the value proposition was reasonable though based on prices in this game’s crown store I see that as unlikely. Just saying you don’t have to wait indefinitely to enjoy a different class now.

Is there actually more than resetting skill points, removing the old class skill lines and switching with new to be levelled? I care little about achievements but if there are class specific ones I could not find em in 30s of searching.

One can cure vampirism/werewolf and acquire werewolf/vampirism instead with no technical problems ZoS could not fix in few months? years? eventually. Only difference is three skill lines and possibly either deleting progress in old lines or making it one time only. Unless swapping to whatever class is BIS each week is fine. (I don't care actually.)

While this would be nice. If remember correctly ZOS once said that they can make any change except for Class changes. It was something to do with how they have the core of the game setup, they actually stated they cannot do Class changers.

You know there's already fotm wardens everywhere in PvP right? They already make another character with the best class now. This really wouldn't affect meta players, but would really help those who settled on a main. And tbh, zos needs to fix the balance regardless.

I wish I could class change
My first toon was based on a character from an RP, so I'd chosen Nightblade for her.
Alas, nightblade class is not my forte. I love her and don't want to delete her, but if I could change her class, I would in a heartbeat.
