What are ALL the "search"able items in the game?

I'm trying to make a list of all the game's containers. for the sake of this question, a "container" is any object where the reticle tip says "[E] Search" in the English localization; and which isn't a corpse (and corpses are anything which is included in "consolidate area loot", so rats, spiders, crawlers etc are corpses too).

So far I have the following. For translation, knowing locations is super important! The only way to translate them is ot walk up to them in the game and look at them in a different language. So please let me know if you know where to find any where the locations are undocumeted!

I can think of a few possible others.
  • I've seen, near beaches, lines of fish hanging out to dry, which are sometimes searchable... but I can't remember where I've seen them.
  • There are the harvestables, including the weird DLC ones in Clockwork City and Blackreach (I checked them: they're all "Collect", "Chop", "Mine", etc: no "Search" items).
  • There are some unusual ones, like the rubble piles that you search for antiquities, loose tiles that things can be hidden in... maybe some other items?
  • Unlocked chests are "Use", rather than "Search", as are many searchable quest targets.
  • What am I missing?
  • Are there strange objects in the DLCs that I'm not thinking of?

What about in OTHER languages? Are there any items in another language which have the same 'container-style' verb as sacks and crates, but don't in English?

    As far as I remember:

    1.) Fish on the hanging line, hanging pork, hanging poultry, or garlic/etc, as well as food items and drink on tables, are all collectable, not searchable.

    B.) Loose tiles and hidden panels are only in Hew's Bane.

    III.) The only other thing I can think of are museum items that sparkle, and get placed in the respective museums, or assembled into an ordinator in Clockwork City.

    The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

    PC/NA, i7 with 32 gigs of ram, nVME cards and an nVidea 1060 over fiber.
    I don't play through Steam, ever.

    For an add-on.

    Mostly because in my current add-on, I want to tell whether the item under the reticle is a corpse... and sadly, the easiest way to do that seems to be to identify everything which is NOT a corpse! There are fewer container names than there are mob types, especially since mobs can have individual names!

    But also partly because it's potentially useful in another add-on, to examine the item under the reticle.

    I think so too, but darned if I can find any to verify against! Can you remember where you've seen any of these?
    twev wrote: »

    Also in other places, though less common. Both can be found, for instance, in the Rulanyil's Fall delve in Greenshade, as part of the quest "The Merethic collection". (Bonus trivia on this: it is one of the few cases where a bookcase is a quest target while still having "Search" instead of "Use" as the action. BONUS bonus trivia: a YouTube video made in 2016 shows that the rubble in this quest, maybe the others too, was "Use" back then. No idea why they changed it to "Search", but it's nice to know that they might, at any point. Perhaps the quest changed to use actual quest items, instead of quest flags, so they had to be changed to containers? Not sure.)

    Oh, good thinking, I'll check those. Also, I appreciate your numbering scheme.

    GetLootTargetInfo() will return INTERACT_TARGET_TYPE_OBJECT for bodies, chests, and resource nodes.

    And INTERACT_TARGET_TYPE_NONE for baackpacks, desks, barrels, etc.

    There's a rack with searchable fish in Philosopher's Cradle crafting station in Arkthzand Cavern in Blackreach.

    So seems like, when merely looking at an object under the reticle, or beginning to use it, we only have methods like `GetGameCamera*()`. Only once the user initiates a use/loot, we get the `GetLoot*()` methods.

    Sadly, at that point it's probably too late to prevent the user getting the tickets (that is, event tickets will likely have already been rewarded? I'll need to check once we get the next "tickets from a lootable object" event. They might count as just a kind of loot, if I'm lucky...).

    But that also makes me realize... I am barking up the wrong tree anyway. Yes, recognizing corpses would be useful for the "investigate the item at the reticle" addon I'm writing, but it's frankly sod-all use for my first addon, preventing people from claiming too many tickets! If I'm blocking people from looting a corpse that has their tickets on, I have already failed. The body will not still be there when they come back after spending the tickets, and their tickets will be gone with it.

    As it is, the addon works well enough for the current event, but I need to fix it before the next event, to prevent users from taking both the dialog option that starts the quest, and perhaps also any option that completes the quest :) But once they've claimed the quest, if the tickets are on corpses, then there's nothing I can do to help them.

    This is perfect, thank you! Knowing exactly where to find them really helps me with translating their names, too :D And you're right: it's a "Search"able "Fish" item, so it goes in the list!

    Exactly. The loot is generated not when you loot an enemy, but when that enemy dies. Once a body containing tickets is generated, you won't get another for the rest of the day, regardless if you choose to loot or not. If you neglect to loot the body, then you will be guaranteed to lose all 3 tickets, whereas if you still loot the body, you might lose anywhere from 1 to 3 tickets.

    You can take a look at the Smart Looter addon to see my approach to the problem of capped currencies (transmutes and tickets). It will auto-loot tickets if doing so will not overflow your ticket count. And if it will, then it will leave the tickets unlooted, for the player to manually loot.

    Nice approach! Useful, too :) I'll link to your addon in my "related addons" section with my next update, since It seems like, with non-quest-based, corpses-drop-tickets style events (Witches, Undaunted, some area Celebrations, etc), that's really the best that can be done.

    The best I can think for my "limit tickets" addon, to add to those events, is perhaps a warning on the reticle when targeting an enemy if they're over the ticket limit. Perhaps a warning when grouping, too, since stuff that group members kill could also result in lost tickets, even on corpses you never saw!

    For quest-related ones, though (midyear mayhem, jester's festival, new life, some area celebrations, etc), I can at least securely block conversation options and quest-board interactions where they'd be given too many tickets.

    Oh, good ones! I think there're lootable bone piles somewhere, too? Can't remember where, though :(

    Anyone know how to get into the main prison? I think they moved the quest starter to the main cities? Is there a way back in, if you've completed the quest?

    thats crummy. so if someone crashes in a dungeon or delve or something and cant loot, they just lose the tickets that day.

    really crummy.

    in wow if you dont loot the boss it is sent to you in a mail. why cant zos do that?

    Extracted the string tables. Translation may not be as simple as I hoped. One name in English does not map to one name in other languages. Just for ESO's French strings:
    • 'bookcase' is translated variously to all of 'Étagère', 'étagère de livres', and 'bibliothèque';
    • 'lockbox' to 'cassette', 'coffre-fort' and 'coffret';
    • 'cabinet' to 'meuble' and 'vaisselier';
    • 'barrel/barrels' to 'tonneau/tonneaux' and 'baril/barils';
    • 'keg' to: 'tonnelet' and 'fût';
    • 'jewelry box' to 'boîte à bijoux' and 'coffret à bijoux';
    • 'treasure chest' to 'coffre à trésor' and 'coffre au trésor';
    • 'wheelbarrow' to 'charrette' and 'brouette'...
    • even 'corpse' to 'dépouille' and 'cadavre'!
