NettleCarrier wrote: »Alright so... I've played this game just shy of 2 years. A few months ago I decided to join a few extra trade guilds (only had one previously) and start really trying to figure out how to make money. To my surprise, this was easy! Now, I've had 18 fully leveled characters and was already in the habit of doing my writs every day even though it takes about 90 minutes total - but I earn far more money this way than anything else I could do in 90 minutes worth of time. Secondly, I started really tracking the value of gold materials and devote about an hour each night in the wee hours of the morning shopping around for deals. To my surprise, a good portion of this population doesn't know how to price things very well and so I almost always find tons of mats to scoop up. Dealing exclusively with gold materials bought (and farmed via writs) I started selling a few million per week with about a 25% profit margin from flipping. Two months later and I'm buying up all sorts of quick-moving items that I can sell in the cities for more. I'm constantly referring to ATT to see what my guild mates are getting away with selling and pricing to match them and to my surprise, it works!
This all being said, now that I've seen how easy it is I'd be stupid NOT to do this. I'm not intentionally trying to contribute to the inflation but now my guild has a trader we need to maintain and I need to survive and make enough money to help keep it afloat too! If I can figure it out, anyone can...
You can make more money flipping items in less time. Pick a few niches and learn them inside and out
or introduce some kind of gold alternative to the new set collection, as it will be widely used.

@Muttsmutt
That is actually a really good idea. The game could certainly use more gold sinks. It is so easy to get gold in this game, I am surprised the inflation is not worse than it is. 50-100k per piece as opposed to transmutes would seem to be a pretty fair exchange.

Although I am sure they would make it more than 100K.
i puke morally when i see in non prime hours in non popular maps, people that post messages that they buy materials like Heartwood for 200g or Zircon Plating for 17k. They are exploiting the knowledge of the new players in those map, at the same time avoiding the risk of someone that can post the real price in chat. When i see them i always post immediately after their post about the price being unfair, and some people actually are glad because they were almost going to send him mats.

This is completely unrelated to my topic
VoidCommander wrote: »The trick to slowing inflation rates in mmos isn’t by lowering the amount of gold generation (ie: quest rewards), but rather to include ways to return that gold back into the great “nothing.” ESO was very concerned with controlling inflation even back at launch, when the cost to repair a full set of armor would cost you almost 8k gold (compared to 1.5k gold now). Obviously they lowered the gold cost, but they set down the roots needed to prolong the gold value as long as possible.
1: armor repair costs
2: gold to teleport
3: house purchasing. Housing was fantastic for curbing inflation of “normal” goods since it “ate” millions upon millions of gold per rich player, as well as provide a rich elite economy for housing nuts. So now instead of the rich player with 20 million gold and nothing to spend it on driving up prices for mats or equipment, they are instead buying furniture.
Be grateful ESO has been reabsorbing the gold back into the game since day one, since doing it later on is next to impossible. ESO will eventually reach a point when the value of gold from a quest drop for a new player won’t buy a green upgrade mat, but at least that fate is slow.
A way to “delete” more in game gold from the rich would be to allow the exhange of gold for crown items. Now I’m talking EXTREME rates, so as not to bankrupt zos, like 1000 gold per crown or something utterly ridiculous. Unfortunately they allowed for crown gifting so this option wouldn’t be nearly as viable.
It really just comes down to supply and demand. Crafting mats are at astronomical prices because the sticker book lets us reconstruct items but we still have to upgrade them. The raw mats go up in price because they're tied directly to one of the easiest ways to obtain the upgrade mats. The refined mats aren't really climbing much, by contrast.
Furnishing mats are rising because a bunch of people got a really huge and nice house for free and most people love decorating. The exorbitant prices of heartwood and such right now are linked to those Imperial Charity Writs. It won't stay at 2k for too long after this event.
As someone who watches motif prices due to that being my primary source of income (to the tune of about 88 million; so I watch a lot, farm a lot, and sell a lot) I can tell you that most of the ones climbing in price are from older zones like Gold Coast and Wrothgar that not very many people go to anymore. By contrast, more common motifs like New Moon Priest, Dwemer, Blackreach Vanguard, and Ra Gada are all still dirt cheap. Why? Because they have high supplies and lower demands. It's the same reason Fang Lair Chests is worth more than the other 13 pages combined. The supply is the same, but the demand is much more immense.

Because u cant afford something it doesnt mean everyone need to suffer. Kinda l2p issue
Um, that’s not how inflation works. Everyone’s savings is losing buying power, and you’re basically telling him to go print more money so he can afford the new higher prices.
It's not inflation. It's supply and demand.
Tell me how and why is the demand of frost mirriam going up so much?
And how and why is the supply of frost mirriam all the sudden gone?
I don't see it
We had an event that was giving bonus XP. That event gave players incentive to level characters they have been ignoring. Frost Mirriam and Bervez Juice are used to make Psijic Ambrosia that boosts XP so players get even more bang for their buck during the event. I would expect prices to go up right before and during any event that has an XP boost. After the event prices should taper back down.
It has been weeks after the last double xp event, price of these items have no dropped 1 bit, what you have to say now?
@ForzaRammer the prices are doing exactly as I said they would. They spike on the front end then slope back down on the back end. I am seeing the prices drop. Remember I said items can sit there for thirty days? We are at that thirty day mark where the higher priced Mirriam and Bervez will be returned. I'm seeing prices lower than what I saw ten days ago. It almost always takes longer for items to go down than it does to go up.
No it have not, the price of berverz juice is still more than doubled compare to same time last year.
There was also exp event.
And where is it as compared to a month ago and even a week ago? Now that I have done some looking prices now are half what they were in March of 2019. I didn't see a price for December 2019.
The prices are fluid. They will increase quickly as demand increases and then gradually drop. It is not inflation but supply and demand.
There is definitely inflation.Oreyn_Bearclaw wrote: »or introduce some kind of gold alternative to the new set collection, as it will be widely used.

The transmute crystals are the carrot they get people to run events.
If you could pay gold for transmutes, the game would become even more a farming and trading game.
This, do'matra is currently very expensive as not many run MoL now days.It really just comes down to supply and demand.
