Are master writs ever going to be adjusted?

With the price of upgrading mats constantly going up, there are very few master writs even worth doing anymore. A lot of gold writs just barely hit at 1k gold to 1 voucher now. Nobody buys anything from the master writ vendor at 1k per voucher. Jewelry crafting writs have always been meme levels of bad with some of them costing 800k to make and returning 200-300 vouchers. Are the voucher rewards ever going to be adjusted? 95% of gold master writs flat out aren't worth doing anymore. Even most of the purple ones aren't worth doing.

A static reward system is never going to work when the price of materials is dynamic. There should at least be a sweep done to bring the rewards more in line with the current state of the game.

They'd need to adjust it by platform. The situation you are experiencing on PC/NA is not at all what is going on with XBOX/NA.

Probably. Master writs are pretty much worthless on PC.

I was under the impression that the writ vendor best served players who hoard as opposed to participating in the player economy

Purple clothing writs are still cheap to do on PC/NA. So are various kind of nirnhorned armor writs.

The system should adjust for itself eventually. If what you say is true and players aren't doing master writs anymore, then at some point the supply of voucher purchased items will dry up and their prices will increase. At that point, it becomes worth it to do the master writs as the reward has increased.

It takes time for things to catch up. Players adjust to prices very slowly. Mats go up now and maybe 2 or 3 months from now, players start to realize that things like attunable stations and research scrolls are suddenly twice the price.

Players in zone will see these new prices and complain about price manipulation without understanding it was all part of a change that occurred potentially months ago and no single player is solely responsible. It's just the market adjusting.

I'm seeing the same issue.... For example, Master Clothing writs that end up costing 1100g per writ. They are all becoming like the Jewelry writs, better to just DESTROY them.

I don't have a suggested "fix", as it seems like it would require adjusting writ yield based on mat prices, and that's really volatile. But something needs to change, as many (most?) writs are now of negative value.

Thats kind of the point though. Really only nirnhoned gold writs are even worth doing at this point. Gold woodworking writs might hit 800g to 1 voucher without being nirnhoned and everything else that isn't nirnhoned is pretty much worthless. Jewelry crafting writs are just outright absurd with a lot of them around 3000g to 1 voucher

The prices for items from the voucher vendor have gone up as well in the last few months, from about 600g/voucher to about 850g/voucher.

I am still able to make some very nice profit doing many purple blacksmithing/clothing master writs, and gold blacksmithing/woodworking, and even some profit on blue/purple jewelry master writs.

I've been selling all my alchemy/enchanting master writs because people pay upwards of 3000 g/voucher for them because they use them for leveling.

You just have a lagging variable reward (in what you can sell for vouchers) from master writs which require variable priced items, there's a time delay.

There are no "800k" jewelry master writs that return 200 vouchers. The smallest legendary are over 500 vouchers each.

Purple (which would cost about 150-200k) are the ones that return 200 vouchers

Edit: If people are selling voucher items below the cost of making the items.... that's their own fault and not something that ZoS needs to intervene in.

(Also, some people selling voucher items are fine with just about anything they get for them, because they got the vouchers from doing alchemy/enchanting master writs for leveling and just have the vouchers sitting around... the cost to make them doesn't even factor into their sale price, it's just a bonus they get in return)

I dont know what server you play on, but you arent even getting 800g:1 on a lot of purples anymore on PC NA besides clothing. As far as "the smallest ones giving 500", that is just flat out incorrect

    1d9QLGp.png

Not that your case would help any either. 500 vouchers for 800k spent is horrendous.

Purple clothing and half of the purple blacksmithing writs are the only ones worth doing anymore. Nirnhoned golds and a handful of others are the only gold ones not worth throwing in the dumpster. The rest are straight trash

Isn't that one of the old ones from before they bumped up the values? That somebody is trying to offload?

At least talk about the ones that currently drop... not ones that people held onto to try and "trick" people later

All purple clothing are worth doing.
All purple blacksmithing are worth doing.
Most gold blacksmithing are worth doing.
Nirnhoned gold clothing are worth doing.
Most gold woodworking are wroth doing.
All enchanting (except purple hakeijo) are worth doing.
    All alchemy are worth doing.
All provisioning (except perfect roe) are worth doing.
Some blue/purple jewelry are wroth doing.

All of these have cases where they are under 850g/voucher to do, which is the approximate current price per voucher on PC/NA. (I have sold about 30 attunable stations in the last 2 weeks at 215,000 a piece, which is an 860g/voucher price)

It literally doesnt matter because, as stated, even if it was worth 500 vouchers it would still be utter trash. 700 vouchers and it would STILL be utter trash. Purple jewelry writs are up to 180k to craft now which puts them at 900g : 1. Even if we give you your 850g :1, which isnt true, you are at a loss to breaking even. You are at a loss to breaking even on the vast majority of gold writs. Why would anyone want to break even to buy something that is going to take 10 times longer to sell than the mats you used? There really needs to be a dynamic system that controls the vouchers because bumping something from trash to still trash once is all we're going to get with a static system governed by a dynamic market.

Okay, so hand pick the worst possible case from each one... I never said that gold jewelry master writs were worth doing... so why are you screaming at me like I said that?

I on the other hand will just pick some that are in my guild bank waiting for me to do! (I don't have a ton sadly, I just did 150 of them 2 days ago... already have sold the 8 attunable stations I was able to buy) Spent about 1.2 million in materials I already had from doing writs and got back about 1.7 million from selling all of them (The 7% tax can be taken from both numbers if I had "sold" the mats instead in the guild store, it's a net wash). I'm okay with me still getting about a 30% profit margin from them. (Yes, I don't do gold jewelry master writs, I don't do most purple jewelry, I don't do most blue jewelry, I don't do any gold clothing (unless they're nirn), and I will selectively get rid of some over priced gold blacksmithing/woodworking if they're too expensive.)

    Here's a non-Nirnhoned gold blacksmithing about 100 g/voucher profit, so a nice 12k profit for doing it.
    hR3jnzR.jpg

Here's a non-ninhoned purple blacksmithing about a 500 g/voucher profit, only 3.5k here, but you get a few of them
    oHJDObB.jpg

    Provisioning - nice 600 g/voucher profit, 1.2k each
    12BGpxe.jpg

    And a gold woodworking - about 150g/voucher profit - 8.2k profit
    GsbF8qH.jpg

Yes, you would lose some if you had to buy the materials, because now you have to worry about the 7% tax. But if you earn all your materials and master writs from doing daily writs (and you'll have PLENTY) you don't have to worry about that 7%

(BTW, I'm in the guild that's behind your screenshot you posted... those attunable stations were up for usually about 12 hours for me to turn them around in there).

Yes, there are discrepancies between computer and console versions in terms of settings. This week I even learned about a new one (see https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/556559/kragh-monster-outfit-pack-effect)

Given we have no disclosure of drop rate we don't know if drop rates specifically vary by platform, but there is no reason to suppose they couldn't be. Consider that they can turn double node drops on and off for events. This could, technically, be done for just one server.

There really needs to be a dynamic system that controls the vouchers because bumping something from trash to still trash once is all we're going to get with a static system governed by a dynamic market.

Also, proof I sold them at 215k each... 860g/voucher.

The player economy is it's own thing. There's no expectation for the devs to tweak it to preserve your profit (or expense) margins. /shrug

I dont know what server you play on, but you arent even getting 800g:1 on a lot of purples anymore on PC NA besides clothing. As far as "the smallest ones giving 500", that is just flat out incorrect

    1d9QLGp.png

Not that your case would help any either. 500 vouchers for 800k spent is horrendous.

Purple clothing and half of the purple blacksmithing writs are the only ones worth doing anymore. Nirnhoned golds and a handful of others are the only gold ones not worth throwing in the dumpster. The rest are straight trash

Is that one of the old ones from before they bumped up the values? That somebody is trying to offload?

It literally doesnt matter because, as stated, even if it was worth 500 vouchers it would still be utter trash. 700 vouchers and it would STILL be utter trash. Purple jewelry writs are up to 180k to craft now which puts them at 900g : 1. Even if we give you your 850g :1, which isnt true, you are at a loss to breaking even.

(BTW, I'm in the guild that's behind your screenshot you posted... those attunable stations were up for usually about 12 hours for me to turn them around in there).

the 7% sales tax doesn't affect anyone buying anything. It only affects you if you're selling which wouldnt matter because you're getting hit the same if you're selling mats or selling writ items

You are starting this off with a false premise. The price of materials fluctuate they are not continually rising. Even if they were continually increasing your idea would only make that worse by creating more demand. What you are suggesting would create a forever stair stepping increase of material prices. Material prices go up, master writs are adjusted to make them more lucrative meaning more players have incentive to do them causing an increase in demand and thus another increase in price.

As it is now when demand is high for materials it is best to sit on the master writs. People sitting on the master writs decreases demand (assuming no events that eat up materials to meet accomplishments) and prices drop making it time to do the master writs. The economy is fluid and it is healthy. A healthy fluid economy means there will be times to buy and there will be times to sell.
The backside of this is as less players are doing master writs the prices of what those vouchers provide will rise. Players that can plan ahead can and do generate a lot of profit as the market does its thing.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."
