Banned.. Unbanned, then banned again!

So, this topic was mine.. and documents my journey through ESO customer support.

After three days and them finally realizing then banned me wrongly and giving me not one, but two sincere apologies, I play for less than a day lo and behold... I'm banned again.

This is becoming severely frustrating, now I get to spend another 3 days waiting for customer support to get their crap together again! Awww yeaah!

Feel free to post any similar situations if it's happened to any of you. Interested to hear if anyone has had a bad a time with customer support as I have.

    Do you have any idea about why you got banned in the first place?

    A lot of people who got unbanned, are gladly bragging about how they got unbanned, even though they duped their asses off.

    Doesn't necessarily have to include you. I am just pointing out that ZoS apparently have no idea what they are doing as for banning and unbanning.

    There's automated systems in place to ban suspect players - this is covered in Matt Firor's message on this forum (he runs ZOS) in the early hours of this morning (under Game Dev forum). You're either getting caught in that, or somebody keeps reporting you.

    Go through German support and get unbanned, and ask them to escalate it to check why you keep getting rebanned.

    He did NOT say that at all, what he ACTUALLY said was:
    we regularly ban accounts involved in spam and bot activity – our teams are working on better systems to identify those accounts and characters
    and
    And yes, we erroneously caught up some legitimate accounts in that ban, for which we apologize
    (emphasis mine).

    The word system doesn't say anything about how a process is implemented, and ZOS has already said the wrong bans issued last Friday were MANUAL and not automated.

    if you are unbanned again, perhaps you should refrain from using any guild banks or stores, or player trading and stop using the mail system to receive or send items.
    if you weren't involved in duping, someone near you may well have been :pensive:

    I have no clue as to why I keep getting banned, I feel like there must be some kind of process I'm doing that flags me on their auto ban system or something, both times I've been banned I've CTRL F4'd my client out on a long loading screen, so perhaps it has something to do with that?

    I've tried contacting support to ask them if they can give me a reason why I'm banned, but no answer!

    You'd think for 100 USD you would get a reason as to why your account is simply disabled on a whim.

    I'm not going to sit and just play half of the game for fear of having my account removed, if I wanted to play a RPG I'd of played skyrim. They need to get to the bottom of this, as it's simply ridiculous.

    KerinKor, somebody gave a press interview where they said they had automatic tracks on things like the economy, to pick up abuse. I'll dig it out.

    I hope you do not get unbanned.
    But I am sure you are soooo innocent that you get banned twice. Weird - I use the mail, the guildbank and my own bank a lot. I did not get banned - how come? Right - because you are a cheat.

    @xxs0cksxx, you know ZOS support posted here that they accidentally banned a few hundred people last week, right? They had to apologise. It does happen.

    You also know that they did not say that people in general were innocent? It could very well be that they had reason to ban them but decided to only give the account an internal warning.
    Yes it does happen. And people complaining in the forum about a ban without even thinking about what they MIGHT have done wrong, should stay banned.

    Open a ticket to appeal a ban. Most of the people complaining know exactly what they got banned for (vampire trolling, griefing, duping, buying obviously duped items, etc.)

    On a different forum someone was complaining that the account he had that he hadn't used the dupe glitch on was banned. They missed the account that he used for the dupe glitch. He was appealing his ban for the innocent account and had made a thread here about it.

    He was guilty, just not on the account that was banned. At this point I hope the innocent players can get the issues cleared up and get their accounts reinstated. The ones who actually are guilty on one account or another, not so much.

    Yeah, there will always be people who protest innocence who aren't innocent (it helps if ZOS explicitly tell customers why they are banned). I get that. I'm just saying - we shouldn't instantly assume everybody banned is guilty. Since launch there have absolutely been issues around this. The head of ZOS posted here overnight in the Dev forum apologising over this issue (banning innocent people).

    Don't bother with that user. He and others are trolling innocent players since the ban wave.
    It would not surprises me if they were the real cheaters trying to cause chaos on forums; flamming innocent players and encouraging frustration against ZOS.

    If you wish to call me a botter, hacker or whatever, take it elsewhere. It's pointless, rude, arrogant and if you want attention so badly I suggest you go out and have a nice day away from the computer, the zoo perhaps? The zoo. If you want attention so badly, go to the zoo and stick your arm in a big cat enclosure and wait, that should get you plenty of attention.


    On the matter of two accounts.. Yes I have two accounts, one for myself and one for my son. We pl.. attempted to play together over the Easter vacation and have been treated with disdain, zero respect, little no to communication and blanket bans for apparently no reason what so ever. If I were given a reason and told why I was banned, perhaps this would at least let me know what is/was going wrong and help us to avoid said actions, however this is not the case so I will continue to seek information.

    Besides reporting the bajillion bots running around, I've been reporting obscene names and language being used over zone chat, and I've seen a lot.

    I don't want this game to turn into WoW Barrens 2.0. And before you say anything about being a wimp, several guys in my guild have young children watching them play because they like it when Dad beats up the bad guys.

    Just as a heads up guys, you can flag people for personal attacks (calling you a cheater) and have them removed from the forums. I recommend you do this.

    While I have no issue with what other people exercise in parenting, some may consider parenting skills to be in question if they are letting their tots view mature content, in the first place.
    Words contained in posts, at which point I stop reading and will not respond...
    Toon / Mana / WoW or any acronym following "In ___" /
    Pets (when referring to summoned Daedra) / Any verbiage to express slang (ie, ending in uz,az,..) / Soul Stone

    They're not going to answer why people got falsely banned on the forums, they'll do it individually in tickets. As the OP says

    May i ask how your Character name was? Because if i see a lot of MrAA, Mrs.oo or likeaboss etc. standing in a public dungeon farming bosses, i report them all. If you have a rather stupid name and like to farm i could imagine that you got reported because of that.

    A heads up on this, you can get your account suspended by falsely reporting people too many times. You may want to actually check a bit before you report.

    Had 2 Guild Mates banned,
    One was told why allowed to Appeal, got the account back with an apology.

    The Other was never told why, asked and got canned response this is closed and will not be reopened.

    So he does not know Why?
    Can not Ask Why?

    If you will not tell him WHY, then it seems you do not know.

    Like me he has health issues and fighting over this is another thing to process while trying to stay going.

    ESO was a way to chat and keep the mind working.

    Can someone please tell me how to get this looked at, as the CS rep will not to respond.

    Last email sent, got no response.

    After looking around the web for answers, as your company refuses to even engage in a dialog, I have learned there was a bug with the guild bank duplicating things and people where using the bug to make money in the game.

    1) All the money I made in game was derived from running around in a newbie zone and collecting resources and chests, then refining said resources into iron, jute and maple then vendoring or selling these items to other players for gold.

    2) I was in charge of trying to keep the guild bank clean of "junk". I would pull out any resource we had an excess of and sell them to other players or vendors then share the money with the guild (as need be).
    a) If something was duplicated and then I sold it, I am COMPLETELY UNAWARE of this because most of the time I would have to load the guild bank over and over to get the withdraw screen. I had no clue what our players had put in or what.
    b) Most of the time when I tried to check the history of the guild bank nothing would show.

    Now having said all this. If your "data" shows that I withdrew items from the guild bank and vendored them, AND I was a level 14 character with more money then I "should" have; well your analysis of the data is flawed. If however your data shows, without a doubt, that I PERSONALLY put items into the guild bank and then immediately withdrew more than I put in, THEN PERHAPS I was duplicating, but I HONESTLY do not EVER remember seeing that happening, because of the above reasons (latency with the guild bank window).

    It would be nice if you would actually engage in an open dialog with me about this. I am a true fan of the game! I know what some the challenges are in some of the was you are presenting your quests and environment. I helped beta test the game, I have given feedback on other things I found broken, and I have tried to help in removing true exploiters from the game, I have reported my fair share of gold spammers and I have personally paid for a number of my friends accounts just so they could experience the amazing way the game is built.

    Finally I have asked everyone that I was playing the game with no not over react and cancel accounts. I am happy to be accused of and banished to the trash can if it truly makes the game better. I know without a doubt that I did NOT violate the Terms of Service intentionally, I am guessing as to your reasons. I will start a new account and continue on my was. I hope that you can correct the exploiters and gold sellers and, in the end, make ESO the game it has the potential to be.

    This, essentially.

    However support would also be great.. asking for ToS to do a thorough investigation without personally standing over their shoulder seems a little too much to ask, as I've been told I was perma banned, then unbanned, then not sure, then told I could be unbanned, then perma banned again.

    .. All with no reason or rhyme at all, and little to no information about any of the process or reasoning behind any of this.

    getting banned once can be construed as a mistake. getting banned twice leads me to believe we arent getting the full story here. you must be doing something questionable.

    My character name was Peanut Buttuh, nothing offensive as far as I know.
