I don't care for perfected anything and i run like blue jewellery sometimes and stuff. It really doesn't matter that much. I have never tested dps or anything. This game is not my work, it is my fun time :)

I’d guess that most of the players that care about perfected gear do have it. There are just a lot of people doing quests, housing, RP, trading etc. that don’t have any interest in vet content.

More of us are progging the harder vet trials for titles and skins. Once we have those there is no need to go back. As for the perfected gear, the drop rates are bad enough on normal. When you run Cloudrest of Sunspire that many times to complete normal gear, there isn’t much incentive to grind it on vet.

You only really need to gold out your weapons anyway. Everything else being purple really won't hurt unless you're pushing for top leaderboard scores.

It's all about the hassle vs benefit. Some gear is easier to get than others. vSS is even pugable while vCR+1 is not. It's not that I'm not capable but it's so time consuming to prog this. And then the extra 1k stam or mag that you get with perfected is a joke. I can parse 90k+ with non perfected and 1k extra stam would only improve it by 1-2k so not worth the effort.

Gold out your non perfected and enjoy.

It's not that surprising when you realize that getting perfected gear requires 2 things
    1. To have a group of people capable of not only running the content to get it, but are willing and able to run it over and over again to get all the pieces.
    2. Actually caring enough about the by in large comically small bonuses from the perfected version of the gear.

Hey.. to each their own. Play how you play. It's what this game is all about. I kill things just fine and enjoy the game very much with overland and crafted gear. Works just fine for this filthy of a casual player. Ha ha

Agree with others - perfected gear offers only a small buff that only competitive raiders need. It’s much, much easier to get non perfected so why not farm that and just be happy with it.

The non perfected are better in some ways because they are so much easier to farm and slot for actual use - which is what matters.

I used and golded False God long well before getting perfected - now the non perfected is on an alt - so no loss at all.

Same in the past, but now that I can reconstruct the perfected gear i'll probably decon all my normal false god and make as many perfected sets as needed :)

I do not understand why someone would think a majority of players would have perfected gear. Most do not raid heavily, or at all.

Just looking at the threads of players who were in groups that struggled to clear dungeons should make this clear. There are groups that struggle to clear normal versions of dungeons.

That does not even get into the group of players that do not group at all.

My biggest problem with getting perfected gear is getting 11 other people to run with. Like generally if im running a trial its going to be a normal pug. Been looking a very long time for a trials guild and everyone I join either has a vet team thats full or isnt that active.

There are quite a few people with a deep seated fear of veteran content. Also some people had lucky RNG in normal and terrible RNG in vet so only have the non-perfect version.

Those few people are dwarfed by the number of people who simply have no interest in veteran content, or indeed in "endgame". For many MMORPG players the enjoyment is in the journey rather than the destination, let alone in treating the destination as some sort of competition.

    That would be me!
I don't even know what gear to obtain in order to reply intelligently to this thread.

Short answer for me, I don't have a guild. So there's no reason for me to gold gears or get perfected. I don't run any endgame content that includes vet dungeons. I just run normal dungeons by myself and I'm highly dependent on the Golden vendor.

    "...fear of veteran content."

Nope, not really. Most of us LOVE veteran content. We just have...

... A fear of toxic bossy and immature veteran players.

In 6 years of ESO I have yet to find an endgame PvE guild that's actually filled with mature, understanding and relaxed people. And I have lots of friends on my FL that can back this opinion up.

And this guy is damn right. I propose new players to meet trial content in the most possible friendly manner in several large guilds. Mr. Todd Howard would have applauded standing to this enchantingly woven manual to mechanics in the lore context of what is happening around, because this way I have already sold Skyrim to hundreds. And you shouldn't even count on 5% of players who are interested in trials at all. The number of those who remained to master it, increasing difficulty, significantly decreases. And those who dared to pull the switch of the ultra-high difficulty setting of the Scrolls know each other by their names.

For everyone else, TESO remains that magical world where the way to relax is to run quests in the evening, go fishing, stand by the wayshrine in Auridon and play lute with friends. They do not have problems with weaving light attacks, they have everything in order with minor brittle. Perhaps their game doesn't even crash. Perfect gear are simply not on the list of their interests.

I even envy them a little, because their game will be more interesting than mine.

vCR / vSS / vKA are simply too difficult for the vast majority of players to run, especially with vCR as you need to do a +1 at minimum to get any pieces besides weapons. Even with carries, it can take many runs to get the pieces required for a 5-piece depending on RNG. The fact that most don't have perfected, and opt to gold the standard gear is not surprising at all.

If you have disposable income, golding the standard trial gear is helpful while you progress toward perfected or just in general, but again the vast majority will not obtain it due to skill ceiling, lack of interest, or lack of access to a capable team who can clear the content.

Well said. I find it funny that someone would jump straight to assuming that so many players get carried in order to get fevetgear...that is rubbish. Such an arrogant statement. Many players just cant get into a good guild that they can progress with without the toxicity dished out by a few arrogant toxic leetist or egocentric players.

The only trial related gear i have is the normal asylum bow and due to bad experiences with the trials i have tried to run, namely people being mean (would use a three letter word but it's filtered here), i have no desire to attempt to do other trials. I mean i'd like to get a couple pieces but considering the most i do is normal overland stuff, plus a few vet dungeons here and there i honestly don't have a need for perfected gear.

I've been using set of savage werewolf, agility and stormfist with my stamden bow/bow build and it's been doing quite well for me so far. Would i attempt to run vMA with it? Most likely not. That's the only gear i would actually like to get for the endless hail buff, but then again it's not that important to me.

I have perfected gear. Lots of it. The weapons are gold, but the body is usually purple. Why? Because it doesn't make enough of a difference for me to bother upgrading. Purple is fine.

I'm shocked that you are shocked (by that kind of thing). Not everyone plays end-game, and not everyone uses (or needs) perfected sets for their build. The extra bouses are nice, but they won't make or break a build. Plus, in some cases (like the vMA staves/BRP dw, which are commonly used on the back bar) the extra bonuses are not of any use. For golding out stuff: weapons are the only really important ones, then the big pieces if you can afford it, and so on.

    1. the difference between perfected and nonperfected gear is minimal, and good player can outdps most ppl even with crafted/bought gear (and with monster set/maelstrom backbar)
    2. you can farm nonperfected gear with pugs, perfected gear not so much

Personally I golded out my nonperfected gear because I used it for months until I joined trial guild and even now I keep it on my alts

I have cleared vMA, Every vet dungeon and half of them on HM and I don't have perfected gear.

I parse 60k - not amazing but enough to be on a lot of progression guilds to clear regular vet trials. I also got an endgame tank I have tanked HM Fang Lair, Bloodroot etc on him.

I simply don't enjoy having to play on a schedule...

I have tried it once or twice. You find a guild, you have to apply for certain raid days and play as you're told.

It's honestly not enjoyable for me at this point of my life... Feels like a job lol. I already have one of those don't need one more lol.

Most players don't give a hoot about vet trial content. Join any guild that runs vet trial progressions. You'll be surprised at what a small percentage of members actually participate. While I would be interested in exact numbers, in my experience, whether the content is too difficult, they don't have the time and/or desire to perfect skills and theory crafting, or they're just into other things, people chasing perfected gear make up a very minuscule portion of the player base.

It's fine to gold them out especially if you're not aiming to run progression on vSS and vCR+3 soon. Gold out your weapons at least to see the most benefit.

I love vet dungeons but trials... we’ll see. So I don’t have any perfected gear, but I do gold everything but my jewelry. For me, the cost is too great for the added benefit, even with the plating passive, etc.
Vet trials are a big gold saver on upgrades for jewels bc the last boss drops gold jewels, and you get gold jewels for making the weekly leaderboard.

    Kwoung wrote: »
As for vet content and the minimal bonus from the gear received from it now, totally not worth it to most players. To elaborate, you can hit 90K DPS in non-perfected gear, it is much more about your build and getting the exact timing down on your rotation. I have guildmates with sub-810 CP in purple gear hitting 75K DPS, which I cannot manage to hit at 810 with gold gear, due to my lack of twitch skills/timing.
