Deconstructing Jewelry needs to give PLATING, not grains.

The most annoying thing to me is the paucity of blue grains. I'm perfectly happy to do blue jewelry writs - except I can't get iridium grains at a decent rate.

And - especially on PC EU, I am NOT going to pay the outrageous price for them. I've got one 50 at CP125 I'm trying to get to CP 160; and I have another at level 45 who's going to be hitting 50 in New Life. I really want to buy the 600+ jewelry Master Writs on them to level that CP fast (well... I really need the vouchers too) - but while both accounts have gazoolas of green, purple, gold platings, I get 1 blue grain per day - if lucky. AND they cost the earth on the traders.... Obviously cause and effect there *SIGH*.

You sound new. When jewelry crafting was introduced it became clear quickly that players farmed for purple and gold jewelry and instantly deconned green and blue pieces. As a result the market became flooded with stupid cheap iridium platings worth about 2k each. Furthermore the blue jewelry writs were so low that it was virtually impossible to get rid of the mats.

Writs were redone and I assure you that procuring purple and gold mats for jewelry became a lot easier. At the same time blue writs were made incredibly abundant so as to manage the total iridium may population.

Blue jewelry writs haven't been in the game very long, they weren't in the game at all "when jewelry crafting was introduced". As soon as the blue writs were introduced, prices for iridium platings and grains rose quickly.

    @Wing

    Totally agree.

The process for acquiring jewelry materials is unbelievably time consuming and/or expensive. I want to PLAY for fun, not just farm materials.

Been here 2.5 years, but just started on PC EU about a year ago, because prior to that I couldn't ever get logged in on EU (bad satellite connection; this one's a lot better).

Too bad I missed the "cheap" blues.

i find that super hard to believe as just about nobody does jewelry writs, they are worth next to nothing in guild stores, and mods that auto complete writs also disabled the "are you sure" check window for destroying jewelry writs. . .the mod literally made it easy to destroy them because its what everyone does with them.

I do hundreds of blue jewelry writs. For higher level/constantly on players blue and green platings tend to accumulate due to farming purple and gold jewelry from vet dungeons/trials/PvP. As such I usually let the blue writs build up. I give away those that reward under 25 writs or as for triune/harmony traits. The rest I’ll selectively do.

The blue jewelry writs are fantastic not only because they’re so prevalent but that everyone can complete them. Standard armor/weapon writs now have 80+ motifs to require making them more difficult for casual players without tons of motifs to complete.

Yes I still do the majority of my other crafting writs (I have 7 Grand Master Crafters) but the jewelry ones are unique due to the value/rarity of certain mats and usefulness of improved traits (infused/bloodthirsty with different rarity improvement). They provide the greatest rewards but require more to sacrifice.

This change gets made (as proposed)

Golden Vendor - worthless. AP loses its value as right now that's one of the main ways that PVPers make gold from their AP. Yes, they made the Alliance Potions better, so there is some value there.

Running Vet HM Trials/Leaderboard Scores - lose even more value, since, as many have pointed out, they reward gold jewelry (which coincidentally is really the only content you MIGHT NEED gold jewelry for... hmm), so you can save yourself the upgrade cost by running content at the end-game level.

So you're willing to destroy two other aspects of the game because it's "difficult" to upgrade something? That sounds pretty selfish to me personally.

    Edit: spelling :disappointed:

Advocating to not improve the game experience for 99+% of the players so the <1% of the "elite" can keep their "eliteness" sounds pretty selfish to me.

You're crazy if you think that <1% of the playerbase participates in trials and/or PVP. Your "argument" loses any strength when you use ridiculous numbers to "support" it. Please come back with something other than hyperbole, and we might have a conversation.

So you change your own wording in an attempt to debunk my counter position? I challenge you to prove my numbers are incorrect regarding the percentage of players that routinely run Vet HM Trials in an effort to get leaderboard scores good enough to award Gold Jewelry drops.

My argument stands on it's own words, your "changes" to the flavor do not take away from it. Your argument is selfish.

macro plating acquisition should should not come from hyper specific optimized activities with micro acquisition being non existent.

the macro roof can stay, fine, but on a micro level the most common acquisition being the collecting of mats, refining, upgrading. is just not there.

i doubt very much the only reason people are pushing high end pvp or pve is for the possibility of gold jewelry, the hope when they get it they can decon it for a single grain, and then selling that grain.

thats a possible profit of ~9k per gold jewelry piece.

if that pitiful gold value really is the point, then ZOS can add some vendor trash items in like they do for dragons and event boxes, add a few 5k vendor trash to people's loot, there, now stop punishing the rest of the game with your high horse greed.

add to that things like this last patch that completely changed up a bunch of sets, whats the point in making jewelry gold?

and "whats the point" should never be an option
