I did see they are looking at increasing the amount of ways to get crystals, but I agree that 5x would be excessive. That being said, us PVPers will now hit the cap after two weeks of playing instead of just one....

The overriding concept of why the cap exists is still in play, though, @Lumsdenml.
That's regardless of whether you play PvP or PvE.
Even with 1,000 stones the transmute cap exists to help change the trait on gear ... not serve as a substitute for players running content for the gear itself.
The increased load on geodes in inventory (after the cap) is an intended mechanic.
