This is something I don't understand. If a goal's been set, and whether the goal is reached or not is determined 100% by the players, and the players don't reach the goal, why would ZOS get dinged for that?
They're betting on the event being rigged to fail, why ZOS would (supposedly) rig an event to fail is beyond my understanding though. This isn't a carnie event at a state faire.
I always feel like they want to see it fail
This makes zero sense.
So you don't think there are people who like to see events like these fail?
I don't think the company promoting the event stands to profit from having it fail, no.
How do they not stand to profit if it fails? The house is still going to be put up for sale on the crown store in the future regardless of the outcome and there will be 2 scenarios. .

Do you seriously think ZOS will just hand it to us if nobody participates? We all will get the house. It is a given. Go get your style pages.

It would be a pretty lousy move to set the goal, not tell us the goal, then later on, tell us we didn't achieve it (when any one individual has no control over it). Then sell us those same rewards later that they told us we could have won if we only tried harder (even though we didn't know the goal at all).
I'm fairly certain we will all earn the house and guest. The alternative would have too much negative impact.
