They didn't keep that secret, though. ZOS said from the start that all people who owned Summerset would get the rewards IF the rewards were unlocked, regardless of how much you participated in the event. That wasn't a surprise if people had paid attention to what ZOS said before the event started. However, they never guaranteed that the rewards would be unlocked, only that everyone who owned the DLC would get them IF they were unlocked.I think the rewards are guaranteed. I remember reading about the Summerset promotion. People who didn't participate at all still got the Psijic Villa. I'm sure there were people who didn't kill a single dragon for Elsweyr. Go get your motifs and stop worrying.

This is something I don't understand. If a goal's been set, and whether the goal is reached or not is determined 100% by the players, and the players don't reach the goal, why would ZOS get dinged for that?
They're betting on the event being rigged to fail, why ZOS would (supposedly) rig an event to fail is beyond my understanding though. This isn't a carnie event at a state faire.
I always feel like they want to see it fail
This makes zero sense.

Yes you personally dont have to partisipate but they could easily say oh the community reached their second goal but failed to get 100% better luck next time.

So do you think they would design and develop a home in the game for nothing?

So you don't think there are people who like to see events like these fail?

I don't think the company promoting the event stands to profit from having it fail, no.

You realize they will be selling the home later on regardless if the event fails or succeeds right? They put the Grand Psijic Villa up for sale for a limited time for the people who weren't around during that event. If the event fails that just means they make more money on the house than they would if it succeeds. If the event succeeds then people who got it are happy and people who missed out will buy it in the future. The event failing or succeeding depends solely on the playerbase and not some crackpot conspiracy that ZOS rigs them to succeed no matter what for good PR. The fact that they do these types of events at all is good PR imo.
Show me the maths and I'll believe in the event. I need to see figures. When its a vague 58% I see marketing and psychology. Why? Because those numbers are designed to give everyone the boost to keep logging in.
The increase will slow during the week to encourage people to redouble their efforts (log ins) and then increase again at the weekend. In fact we will hit 100% with about 4 days to spare and they will announce a bonus reward for doing so well.
Everyone will feel good about themselves and will continue to log in daily for a while because "they done good"
Show me the numbers and I'll lose my cynicism. Show me a random percentage and I'll believe the numbers will reflect what Zos want them to reflect.
The Summerset event was the only similar event I can remember in the past four years (I didn't play before that), so it's not like they've had dozens of these types of goal events or anything. Unless there was another that I'm forgetting? An event has never failed and never will.
I think it's so that if we get close to 100% they'll push it over the edge and let us get the house. If we're not close, though, then no, I don't think they'll give it to us anyway. It’s all in good fun and good pr. Why do you think there is not some concrete number/goal that we can see and count?

It’s basically a reward for everyone who purchased Greymoor. Thank you zos. Everyone, enjoy playing the game, and have fun decorating your new house, which, btw, is unfurnished so zos will make some money on crown furnishings : )
