It will be good for trash pulls and maybe something like vHoF triplets, that's about it.

Still great change to make the skill more useful.

It's crap on DK, does similar damage to Whip at full strength and costs almost twice as much. Can be used for trash pulls where Mangle actually works.

The skill we should be comparing against is Whirling Blades.

Whirling Blades can and actually is often used as actual single-target execute, because it is able to compete with other single target executes. And it does more single target damage in execute range than Rapid Strikes which is analogical comparisn to Impulse vs Molten whip.

Impulse isn't even half as effective as Whirling Blades are.

Context: I removed all my armor and jewelry, the only thing equiped was a gold staff. I removed weapon passives. Dark Elf passives were active. Sorc's -6% cost was active, I think I had stage 1 vamp too by mistake. Either way, stats were even for stam vs magicka scaling. No CP spent.

For the screenshot of Whirling Blades I continued to hold a Destruction Staff (1335 damage) instead of DW (1571 damage).

The point was to show what they look like closer to their original values. When equipped with everything DW has to offer, you get higher base weapon damage, +15% damage to CC'ed enemies, +20% damage to enemies in execute range, -15% cost to an already cheaper skill in comparison to Impulse and finally, the Crit/Pen/Damage done of the weapon type held.

Fire staves lose their 8% damage done because the skill is aoe and they only have 10% penetration instead of the comparable 20% from maces.

What Pulsar and fire destruction staves have in comparison, is a high chance to apply burning, magicka return on kill and minor mangle. You'll see in the pictures, Pulsar does about 86% base damage versus your typical spammable, remember, melee spammables like Vampire/DK/NB have about 10% more damage on top.

The extra fire damage from Impulse is about 13.7% of the base damage (11.3% of the spammables) and is only applied if the target is already burning (increased chances from Pulsar), but can be multiplied by up to 4x in execute range putting it at up to 54.8% of the base damage of Impulse (45% of the spammables).

It's very meh in the current state. Much better for trash aoe if you 100% want to use a fire staff, but lightning staves get the 8% aoe damage and the new extra damage effect on shock impulse making it a superior trash killer. Running this on your bar for execute phases would just waste a spot you could use for something else. If you hit an enemy at 1% HP they would take about 131% damage vs a spammable like Force Pulse, and thats without the 8% single target damage passive in mind. Whirling Blades by comparison is vastly more powerful for the same circumstance.
