It’s time for a new open world pvp map and server after 6 years of eso

    Mixed PvP and PvE is a bad idea. Look at how hard IC flopped, they gave it away for free, twice now.

    The new map idea does sound interesting, but doubt they would dump the money needed to make it happen. And lets say the PvP crowd returned and the lag / poor performance was still around; don't you think they would walk right out the door without any intention of ever walking in again?

    IMO they should have taken the time to rework the entire game from the ground up, even to the point of making ESO 2.0 But that window has firmly shut (not to mention devs had said it's not an option)

    I dont know that is why it flopped so to speak. I think it has more to do with the reward system. I think there are ways to mix PVP and PVE, but the way it was implemented, it is almost like they are trying to encourage gankers.

    Put more stuff in the tel var vendor and drastically reduce/eliminate losing stones when you die, and I think you would see a lot more people in IC.

    In terms of a new map/server, i wont argue against more content, but performance is the elephant in the room. At this point, I often wonder if Cyrodiil shouldnt be out riight replaced with a significantly smaller map. Same basic gameplay structure, just not nearly as big, perhaps with smaller alliance populations and max groups size.

    I am no expert, but if you released a map that was 1/3 the size of Cyro, cut populations in half, and reduce group size to 4-6, I bet there would be more action and less lag.

    Agree that performance is the most pressing issue.

    I just have never seen a successful implementation of PvPvE. Always just turns into a PvP zone with more quest objectives. Even playing on WoW with a flagging system, if you were getting ganked, you just had to move to a safe location and wait for the flag to expire - then you could quest in peace.

    Seems to me where any player mechanic can be boiled down to, "Wait for player(s) to engage the boss, get slapped around and THEN jump them" is going to be decidedly one sided.

    I agree with you 100% but unfortunately people who don’t even play PVP will criticise this and be against it.

    They want the same DLC over and over and over again.

    Hardcore players PvE'rs might have beaten everything in Cyrodiil. Hardore PvP'rs are going against other players and that dynamic is fluid.     Something needs to change to greatly increase the number of players that want to PvP before more PvP content is added.

    And we all know what happens in the below fifty campaign. Some experienced players keep creating new characters with the single purpose of going to that campaign and dominating new players. A new zone isn't going to stop the players that like pounding on the new players. They go where the new players go.

    Make new smaller map for pvp. Return cyrodil to PVE.

    Start fresh. Less vegetation/trees. No nodes. No skyshards. Period.
    That's it, that's all.

    Agree, it would be nice if they could design a map 30-40% the size of Cyrodiil, non-symmetrical, that has objectives spread out to be ideal for small scale groups. It's probably not gonna happen tho.

    I'd play what op proposes. But i disagree about cyro not having content after grand overlord and shards etc. I have everything and i still find it interesting. I play different sets, toons and roles and of course all the awesome opponents keep it fresh. I don't look at the achievements at all, like. It's about all the fun, not goals for me :)

    Tbh, the PvP crowd is no different.. You want PvP stuff to be released, just as we want PvE.. in my experience though, most PvE players are not opposed to you guys getting new stuff.. the conflict usually only start when the two interests starts to influence one another

    A real grand overlord is made with only ap from players killed since AP tick on ressource and castles every zerglings can farm it easily and very fastly in comparison to when I was the first grand overlord of my server

    I think it sounds like an awesome scenario!
    Cyrodil IMO is too big for the current population and maybe a new smaller map would help with som lag och get rid of zergs

    You still have all the die, wait, loading screen wait, travel again, die ... cycles. From the PvE side I don't really care about losing telvar stones that much. I care about the fact some idiot wants to sit all day by a quest point and kill the PvE players for fun.

    For PvE it would be better to either have a separate PvE IC (without the PvP and without some of the PvP related goodies so there are still things that are PvP rewards and mark someone as good at IC PvP), or to have some kind of option for PvP/PvE.

    Were I in charge (hah) I'd announce "a pact hs been signed between the armies to allow fighters guild daedra hunters to operate unhindered" and a way to enter in fighters guild form.

    to be honest i cant see them doing anything but what they have been doing: moving away from grand scale pvp. Too many headaches and no money in it. I do like cyrodiil but i think that's the truth of it.

    Unfortunately, that seems very true. They have been moving away from the alliance war for a while, one tamriel, allowing alliance change tokens, removing the alliance background on the character selection screen...

    I rarely pvp, but... would love to see a dedicated server to pvp. Like in Runescape, there is a separate server and ALL THE ZONES are pvp. Banks are considered a safe space, so you always needed to be sure to log into a non pvp server first so you can get yourself to a bank, before logging into the pvp server.

    I would love to see tamriel in a... molag-ball-won type setting. All of tamriel would be in ruins, daedric enemies everywhere.... a very apocalyptic tamriel. All they would have to do is use the current tamriel zones, and just add more rubble, make it permanight, add a few more coldharbor like areas scattered throughout. I would pvp more if that were the case.

    Whether the servers are fixed or not I think it’s time that pvp got a major expansion

    When 80-90% of the population is PVE they will get 80-90% of the attention, perhaps even more.
    Make PVP fun/rewarding for the PVE crowd so they come and join and you’ll get more love from ESO.
    Imp City festival was a gankfest, which discourages PVEers. It needs to be a lot better than that.

    This is interesting. Very similar to what they did with Ultima Online all those years ago...there were 2 identical worlds...one was open world PvP and the other was PVE...UO started out as open world PvP, but they split it to make the player base happier. They could re-use the assets they already have(though I am sure there would be work to populate the enemies differently and to make previous cities into ruins). I would love to explore an alternate-reality Tamriel(explain it with a dragon break) that was far more dangerous...would actually make overland questing marginally more interesting. For the idea to work though, they would have to make the rewards worth it to tempt PvE players over. The goal would not be some hardcore PvP world(except maybe around some objectives) but more PvE with the threat of PvP like IC, but not crammed into such a small place that gankers and griefers are everywhere. The real question is how would they tempt their playerbase to spend half their time there?

    they tried to buy us off cheap with those battleground maps...

    battlegrounds do not equal open world, unscripted pvp...not even close...

    as has been mentioned a bunch above - the pvp map needs to shrink, a lot...

    cyro was designed with a whole different population participation and server performance in mind...

    Hear hear!

    I'd love to see the War declared over and PvP moved to a new venue. As OP suggests, a daedric realm would appear most plausible. Throw in for Hircine, Mephala or Meridia (for example).

    Another idea would be to set it up as a prelude to an Akaviri invasion. Different factions that aren't the alliances trying to gain a foothold over there. A Merchant's guild faction perhaps?

    In any event, a refresh would be great and the opportunity for PvE in a rebuilt Cyro zone would/could/should be fun.

    Of course I would rather see them un-charlie foxtrot the mess that is current cryo performance before they try anything new. Bringing old bugs into a new region / game mode would not be a great thing.

    I doubt we'll get much for PvP land. Tweaks like we've had is all, and kinda fair.

    I'm happy with what we have, just if they stopped the cheats and boosters.

    I doubt we'll get a PvP chapter ever. I'd buy it if we did.

    One thing I did thing was a mechanics reset. I thought a map could reset to all white keeps..the. Each alliances stars at its gate and pushed in, when you take Emp Ring your alliance wins and map resets. (You don't get Emperor etc tho, turn that off, that should mean something)

    Basically so there is a huge rush, a more casual / instant gratification type.

    But really I'm happy with it as it is
