It’s time for a new open world pvp map and server after 6 years of eso

After 5 years of essentially the same cyrodil open world pvp it is time for a new map and a new objective. One of the biggest trend I’ve noticed is a lot of the older more experienced pvpers have left the game because after getting grand overlord there has been almost nothing new to achieve in cyrodil. There have been a few new additions as far as tactics in the form of breaking bridges and gates and capping towns and even new outposts and of course the daedric artifacts but none of that really created a new experience for the players who have fought in pvp for the past 5 years. Every few months we get a new dlc for a story mission outside of cyrodil or a new dungeon but cryodil has remained pretty much the same.

I have a wonderful idea that mixes it up and adds a renewed thrill for experienced pvpers to come back to the game and play for years to come. While at the same time remaining lore friendly.

I also want to clarify that this his not a pvpve zone. Strictly a pvp zone in a different instance of either coldharbor or a different daedric princes realm

So as we know coldharbor is the realm of molag bal and during the story we defeat him and essentially destroy his physical body banishing his spirit until he can gather strength until he can regain his body again. And during the plane meld we had multiple missions where ambitious daedra reached out to the player to help advance them among their hierarchy. I would propose that 3 daedric overlords reach out to 1 of the 3 alliances in attempt to take over the proverbial throne of coldharbor in molag bals absence. “ keep in mind zos knows what would be more lore friendly”

Anyways as we know in cyrodil the most epic fights always take place at the last emp keep. Whether your defending or pushing its almost guaranteed that the last keep is going to be one hell of a fight. I propose a map that recreates this scenario.

Picture this. A large castle in the middle of the map. A castle with 3 layers of defense. The citadel the inner wall and the outer wall with a large portcullis. Outside the outer wall are 3 large keeps similar to the home keeps of cyrodil. These outer keeps are also protected by an unbreakable 3rd wall and portcullis. In order to open the portcullis to the castles outer wall you must own 1 of these 3 keeps. And break through the 3 layers of defense to take the center flag much like the scroll temples. The alliance that holds the castle spawns directly in the castle while the opposing alliances spawn at alliance bases at the edge of the map just like we do now.

Additionally outside these 3 outer wall keeps there are 2 outposts outside of them. And just like the outer wall of the castle these 3 outer keeps have an unbreakable 3rd outer wall with a portcullis That only opens the keep to attack if you own the 2 outposts. Outside these outposts are 3 resource camps just like cyrodil. By owning all the resources you buff the guards and walls of your outposts outlying keeps and the castle.

This makes this map an eternal 3 way fight for the castle and a constant defense for the occupying alliance. I would also propose a new rank structure for this map. 50 levels just like cyrodil. There can be delves and skyshards scattered across the map and within each keep and the castle. The new rank structure would place a new daedric themed rank icon on the opposite side of your name as your cyrodil rank. This will give older players new ranks to grind with a new map and brand new pvp objective similar but also different than cyrodil. I imagine a cold dark wasteland with natural hazards outside the walls like daedric incursions that can hamper small groups.

This new map/server would add a much needed new longevity for older players who are tired of just farming ap in cyrodil to get grand overlord on a new character. This will give older players a reason to return to their older toons and farm something new. I actually think it will increase the pvp population as well Especially if they removed some of the less popular campaigns while adding this new server. Most of the hardcore pvp players who have already beaten everything in cyrodil will migrate to this new server since there will be new ranks to farm thus creating a more new player friendly cyrodil for them to learn to play in since the major players won’t be there to hammer them.

Let me know your thoughts.

I would love to see another open world pvp map added, but with the performance issues the game already has how feasible would it be to add such a thing?

A new different server would split the pvp population and help reduce lag in both servers

But then that raises the issue of potentially "dead" servers.

I would love to see a new PVP map added. Maybe another mix PVE/PVP like IC. I think the best place for this would be the Colovian Highlands between Cyrodiil and The Gold Coast.

But how would the Pact get there then? Wait... That's a good idea! Maybe create smaller open world PVP zones where only 2 of the three alliances fight it out. Would need to make three of these zones though and release them all at once, as well as have them drop similar rewards. Like 1 of the 2 zones a faction has access to would drop one set of rewards, and the other area would drop different ones.

I would appreciate it if the comments remained serious and on topic. This would still be a 3 alliance campaign just instead of running around a circle all day you have to use numbers and strategy to break into the citadel. There would be objectives to defend and retake in order to stop the opposing alliances from gaining access to the castle

Cyrodiil still hasn't been fixed, why add more large scale PvP that won't work?

Because cyrodil is stale after the same objective for 5 years. And they are working on the issues as to why the servers lag so bad but that’s no reason not to come up with a fresh new pvp experience that could potentially bring back thousands of pvpers

investing resources into a "fresh new pvp experience" is a huge waste if pvp barely works. Those thousands of pvpers will just leave again.

Until and unless Zos can fix the open-world PvP we currently have it is pointless and a waste to create a new map. We have seen both Cyrodiil and IC experience the same sever lag issues that have contributed to shrinking the PvP population to a small fraction of what it once was on some servers.

As such it would be a very bad idea for Zos to consider a new open-world PvP map at this time.

Wel for all we know this years aoe tests will resolve a large amount of the server instability and we won’t lag nearly as much. The pvp community is suffering from more than just lag and even if they fix the server it’s guaranteed that many of the players who left won’t come back if there’s nothing new to do.

Remove the daedric hammer and make resource buildings destructible again.
Remove the pve dungeons from cyro and all pve quests objectives as well. The zone should be strictly pvp oriented. Allow the new dwemer lancers to be purchased in the vendor for outstanding amounts of AP or increase their drop sources.

Improve or add to the current zone maybe a 4th faction of daedra that attack the players idk something fresh but still in cyro.

Well aside from the lag IC is a flop because there’s nothing there with longevity. No ranks no leaderboards no real objective except farm telvar for armor and mats. And as stated if they were to fix the lag would this sound like a fun campaign? My post isn’t so much about is it a good idea because of lag but rather does this pvp server sound fun

that would be the best thing that ever happened to pvp and eso.
i hope they do give us either a new map - a new server - or at the very least open world pvp with flagg on off pvp toggles at the minimum.

Mixed PvP and PvE is a bad idea. Look at how hard IC flopped, they gave it away for free, twice now.

The new map idea does sound interesting, but doubt they would dump the money needed to make it happen. And lets say the PvP crowd returned and the lag / poor performance was still around; don't you think they would walk right out the door without any intention of ever walking in again?

IMO they should have taken the time to rework the entire game from the ground up, even to the point of making ESO 2.0 But that window has firmly shut (not to mention devs had said it's not an option)

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

I propose this instead...simply give Cyrodiil to the PvE crowd since they have been crying for that ever since the game came out(give them IC too) and make a new Open world PvP map and a new PvPvE map...let the war move on from Cyrodiil....a Daedric realm would be fine...but it couldn't be Coldharbor since that is already PvE....but that is ok, there are a ton of others to choose from. This way there is no abandoned area issue, and according to the lore, after the vestige released the anchor above the white gold tower, IC was liberated from the daedric forces....(an unknown amount of of time later, true, but still happened afterward). The whole alliance war would probably end shortly after that....but you don't need an alliance war to PvP anyway...and if the alliance war ended, then you would be free to PvP with whoever you wanted to, maybe even go mercenary and change allegiances from time to time.

As to what the point would be...

    1. It would give PvP new content....something that is certainly needed...no new PvP content is one of the reason I don't PvP nearly as often as I used to.
    2. Its possible they could design it differently than Cyrodiil in smaller sections instead of one big map, improving overall performance(this may not happen...but its a possibility)

I dont know that is why it flopped so to speak. I think it has more to do with the reward system. I think there are ways to mix PVP and PVE, but the way it was implemented, it is almost like they are trying to encourage gankers.

Put more stuff in the tel var vendor and drastically reduce/eliminate losing stones when you die, and I think you would see a lot more people in IC.

In terms of a new map/server, i wont argue against more content, but performance is the elephant in the room. At this point, I often wonder if Cyrodiil shouldnt be out riight replaced with a significantly smaller map. Same basic gameplay structure, just not nearly as big, perhaps with smaller alliance populations and max groups size.

I am no expert, but if you released a map that was 1/3 the size of Cyro, cut populations in half, and reduce group size to 4-6, I bet there would be more action and less lag.

Well aside from the lag IC is a flop because there’s nothing there with longevity. No tanks no leaderboards no real objective except farm telvar for armor and mats. And as stated if they were to fix the lag would this sound like a fun campaign? My post isn’t so much about is it a good idea because of lag but rather does this pvp server sound fun

So you seem to agree, that until and unless Zos can fix the lag there is no reason for Zos to consider adding another open-world PvP map.

As such it is not the time for a new open-world PvP map. It does not appear to be even close to such a time.

That’s not what I said at all. I said that it wasn’t a reason not to make the server. I’d rather have lag and a new pvp experience over lag and the same boring pvp Iv done for the past 5 years and Iv done all the pve content as well.

Then that is where we differ. I am interested in Zos creating quality PvP content. Interest in Cyrodiil pales greatly to what it once was and it is mostly due to the decline in performance. As such it is a waste of time and money to spend any effort on new content with the same major problems as Cyrodiil.

It would be an extremely poor business decision to put such resources into something that is destined to perform so poorly.
