I have been a mostly solo player to this point, cp637, but recently have started trying out pvp. I'm not very good, but figure if someone is targeting me during a siege I figure that's at least drawing fire from someone who knows what they are doing😁
The reason for this post is something I read on here. During a recent siege our side had put down about ten ballista. They were taking heavy fire, so I ran over and began alternating between a couple of them before being killed. I thought what I was doing was helping the team, but read on here in the post about sniping chests, that what I was doing was essentially the same as sniping chests. So I was wondering if some of you pvp vets would be willing to offer some basic etiquette tips for people who are new to pvp to avoid making these types of mistakes.
@kendellking_chaosb14_ESO Yeah...people like you are the reason sieges fail.
Don't think someone puts sieges down for you, almost no one does that, you are stealing and disrupting the siege speed. 1 Player can operate 4 sieges with ease and if you just take one of them, you slow the siege down, since they are all timed to fire right after each other.
About oil no, don't touch oils that are not yours people want to time the oil drop to get all damage at once and not after each other, since you can purge and heal in between. If you touch someones oil and use it at once, you are the reason the zerg down there survives.

/sarcasm......hopefully
1. Don't steal sieges especially not the Coldfire ones.
2. Don't run over a single person with 5 or more people.
3. Don't teabag or you can go back to Fortnite, more fitting for your mental age.
4. If you are grouped stay with your Crown.
5. Don't chase players that try to lure you.
Besides that well, there are some things that you can do but you will get heavy disrespect for that, for example playing NB and only cloak, run and hit once, cloak, run and hit once, and repeat. Thats more annoying than dangerous.
Same if you use Snipe on the bow its propably the most disrespected skill out there, mainly because you can deal huge damage without being in danger and the skill is so buggy that you can hit people 10 times before they got any damage, which results in an insta death.
Petsorcs are also on a pretty low level of respect.

#1 Bring your own Siege weapons. Seriously, its a great way to contribute to capturing/defending a keep and you can earn AP by hitting players.
#2 Don't use other people's siege weapons. If you do, do NOT sit on the siege weapon. Hop on and off so the owner can claim it back if necessary. The exception is if someone explicitly says "I'm putting down extra," as I commonly do when PUGing. Then, please, use the extra siege weapons. "Abandoned" siege weapons are riskier. Use you best judgment as to whether or not someone else was using it and, again, do not sit on the siege weapon so the owner can grab it back.
#3 Coldfire and the new lances are the most expensive siege weapons. Don't touch them if they aren't yours.
Others may have more to add or disagree where I draw the line.
A lot of people do get upset if you use their siege weapons, but I don't really understand why. So long as you are hitting the appropriate target with it you're making yourself useful and freeing me up to do something else. So feel free to use mine anytime.
I hate using sieges anyway. They're slow and cumbersome and I hate the way they aim.

Because siege costs AP or gold to buy, some are AP only, some are really rare and I want to pack it up after a few shots so it doesn't get wasted.
During Midyear Mayhem I can run through 80 x 1800AP worth of siege in a single day... and sometimes I've actually gotten to touch less than 25% of the ones I put down. This is why we yell at pugs to bring their own siege. Especially since many pugs will jump on your siege, and promptly turn it away from a useful target to something random.
Everyone is happy if people don't touch siege that they did not put down. *unless instructed otherwise*
I can understand it maybe if you are using siege weapons to kill players. But if you're just pounding on a gate why does it matter who is using it to knock it down? You've already spent the AP or gold in either case.

Because I cannot kick YOU off to pack up that siege. So instead of being able to use it again on the inner door, or on multiple keeps, it's gone. 1800 per pop.
You want to play with siege, spend your own AP, not someone else's.
If someone is generous and says they're putting down extra siege, you're in luck. Otherwise, bring your own like a big kid.

Alright. I guess that makes sense. But what if the player gets off as soon as the gate goes down? Would you mind it then?
I mean you've spent the AP either way and your siege contributed to knocking down the gate. What difference does it make who pushes the button over and over?
I usually buy several sieges and just hope someone else uses them for me so I don't have to worry with them. So I just don't understand what the big deal is, I'm sorry. lol
I much rather be running around fighting players or raising people then having to PvP some boring door while making myself vulnerable to be attacked. Maybe I'm just weird I guess.

It’s not yours, that’s all the reason you need.
