Then show me a clip of 7 medium shackle + hundings pvp.
You will get slapped left and right.
The times where you could run total basic sets are long over. Your healing and damage is severly crippled compared to meta setups.

ESO is not a PvP-focused game, so all these pay-for-convenience options and borderline pay-to-win options for the PvE players are going to get abused by PvP players (lvl 10s using Dawnbreakers and Shooting Stars in BGs) if they can.

People won't admit it, but it is. When there is no other recourse to get past a power wall besides paying to gain access to mythics and/or new proc sets that are completely unbalanced and offer too much or make possible broken builds, the game is in the direction of P2W as far as I'm concerned.

PvP balance will be so bad next patch...My goodness I may not even log in once unless they have taken any of the input seriously. However, considering the history of ZOS, they have already moved on to the next patch and don't care about anyone's input here or anywhere else, including the in-game tool for the PTS.

This is absolutely true and anyone that uses the PTS can verify this, or just participate yourself and realize its a waste of time unless you are planning on finding exploits to keep quiet about. I'll choke if I get silenced on the forum again for saying something like this.

I'd argue that Fortnite's business model has been more successful than ESO's by a decent margin.

mythic items are now where needed i dont use them i tried some didnt feel any change and dropped them i play a magdk that get 4.5k+ spell dmg solo and grouped in cyro i can get 5.2k+ it has 1600 mag recov 1100 stam recov

I can't comment on Cyrodiil, but it's pretty straightforward to dominate sub-50 battlegrounds just by knowing what you're doing and equipping end-of-match rewards and earned abilities. I've been able to do it on multiple characters/classes, and based on max level battlegrounds, I'm not even all that good.

This game had very little pay to win imo... It feels like this statement is thrown around far too readily.

If you play any other mmo's with vertical progression you have to have the latest expansion to even compete. As the level cap is moved along with the newest sets being 10 levels higher and being stronger on a numerical basis alone.

Yes I do believe they have sets to tempt players into buying the latest chapter, if you think you need them to win you're wrong. Yes malacath is great on dot/pressure builds and it shouldnt work with procs IMO, but I have plenty of builds that don't use it and our equally competitive. The way I see it, you rather build for pressure with malacath, dots and channeled attacks or you build your crit modifier and chance and make something much burstier.

Sorry to disappoint you, but "Now" is more like "since 2 years". What about Warden ? What about Necro ? Or what about every single Dungeon DLC with kinda broken gear ? ? ?

If we were to say if ESO is P2W in a "slightest" - then it is... since long time... (but nonetheless it is a "slight" P2W. Tiny, and can be barely noticed sometimes, but it is there).

AvA was a big selling point yes, but ESO wasn't promoted just as a PvP game - had it been, many of us wouldn't have played it. However, I was questioning the claim that it is advertised as a PvP MMO - I haven't seen any evidence that that is the case currently.

I don't use a mytic and doing pretty good, there niche and create build options on top of what was which is good. Its not paid to win. I farmed them all and don't use them atm.

Every games locks items and level in extention. That's the very purpose of an extention. (bringing gear, quests, zones, etc..)
That's not pay to win.

If you had to buy items in the crown store to stay competitive, that would be pay to win. Mostly, pay to win mmo tend to be the completely free ones, and tend to be not very great.

I'd like to see you duel a decent player with fully optimized sets that include Balorgh Monster and Malacath's while you're in basic non set gear and actually win if it's all about movement and experience. Of course experience is important but to say that gear sets don't affect outcomes is just false when you're talking about a maximum total damage buff in the range of 50-60% over baseline from just those two. That can mean burst combo's that were easily survivable instead kill people before they even finish.

PvP is not pay to win....not much in this game is really. That doesn't mean the crown store isn't a massive scam in nearly every way, it just means they don't sell anything that is more than cosmetic in the crown store.

Everyone I know in end game PvP has spent literally thousands on this game. Most have spent in excess of $2,500 that I have spoken to about it. The end game PvP players all have the fancy mounts and tons of cosmetics. So we know ZOS is cleaning up financially off of PvP players as well. There is no reasonable justification for the way ZOS deals with the lag issues outside of they expect to keep getting paid while refusing to deliver a playable game a huge chunk of the time.

No, you don't. Run with groups. Cyro will have the latest and greatest on some players so if you don't want the DLCs...Cyro will be challenging.

My advice, buy some sets in IC.

I mean eso does have pay to win elements but people don’t like to admit it. Mostly because if it’s not as bad or extreme as other games people feel that it makes a game exempt. Although for instance if I punched you and someone hit you with a bat it would still be violence even if one is clearly more extreme.

No, you don't. Run with groups. Cyro will have the latest and greatest on some players so if you don't want the DLCs...Cyro will be challenging.

My advice, buy some sets in IC.

Most of the top tier PvP players I know are running sets that are a couple years old.

This will change with the next update, but for the last couple/few years, having the latest released sets did not matter for PvP.

Anything that’s bought that gives someone a obvious advantage over someone who doesn’t have it is pay to win to me. But items locked behind a paywall that’s not just for convenience (such as a craft bag) could fall into the pay to win category.

I don’t play wow but if you’re able to face other players with those extra levels that seems like pay to win to me. But again I don’t play it so I’m not sure how much of an advantage you’d get.

Well I am loving eternal vigor for pvp, don't own greymoor but bought that set from guild trader.

I don't think any of those mythics are bis for my build, I tested them on PTS.

Don't see any p2w from my perspective.

However there are certain classes and builds which benefits a lot more from those, but I don't play those builds (no cp heavy armor malacath builds).

I play in cp and those cheese builds arent as strong there.

edit: of course, MMOs that increase their level cap don't have this problem, because without the expansion you just get frozen out of PvP in the first place. And if you do get the expansion, you have to replace all of your gear anyway.

Half the fun and drawback of eso doesn't matter what gear comes out we haven't had any progress since they stopped the quarterly cp increments. we get slightly new ways to do the same stuff set shoots a beam, does an aoe, procs an effect etc but no actual progress so in the end its not pay to win its just pay or dont pay to do the same stuff either way...
