PVP players why do you prefer PVP over PVE

For me Its because I find endgame PVE boring. I enjoying questing but the dungeon trial scene is just running the same content over and over to get different scores or to earn skins or titles I have no interest in. But, that’s me.

So, why do you prefer PVP over PVE?

Competition, and the fact they're fighting other people. Gives them an ego boost for winning. I'm not being rude, it's the truth. Bringing a little Psych 101 in here, competitive gaming itches people's desire for domination over others.

PvP is a different challenge then PvE. PvE if you get enough gear and learn the mechanics of the fight (dungeon boss raid boss etc) then the fight is always the same and eventually easily done. PvP you never know what is going to happen. Anything from fighting different class's, set up, skill levels, 1 vs 1vs 3vs 20 etc. Always different

Are you saying that’s why you prefer it or are you saying that why people PVP?

Because real people are an interesting challenge. Not braindead npcs doing the same over and over, thats just boring and not challenging. I only pve for gear, or if its an interesting new quest/story, aside from that the only pve im doing is IC for alchemy stuff, so i can craft pots without wasting my life picking flowers everyday...

I play both, but:

PVE - Outside of story-driven quests gameplay comes down to memorizing spawns, memorizing mechanics, and tightening your own rotation to make it more and more robotic.

PVP - You at least have a chance to run into an enemy that is unique/different. More read and react.

I prefer the unpredictable nature of PvP. I like completely destroying people and I also like tipping my hat to folks when they completely destroy me. The latter happens quite often. I also really enjoy group movement and tactics. I consider it to be extremely fun.

this is a joke, but, it's also a bit how i feel...it's weird, cuz i'm a solo player, so, i don't really even group up much, i'm not OP or up on the leader boards, so - nobody probably really knows my name...but, cyro and imperial city have been like a second home to me these past five years...

PvP is my only justification for playing. Leveling characters, grinding/crafting gear, all that goes into making your toons more powerful; it would feel pointless to me if all I did with it was try to complete PvE content, or raise my dummy dps/leader-board score. For me, the measure of power my characters have is there ability to defeat other characters in direct combat. Everything done to increase their power is just a means to that end.

For me, I find that pve land is just repetition and learning rotations and mechanics and well it's pretty mind numbing. It isn't challenging and with power creep due to cp, crazy sets and what not, you can do most of the content solo, including vet dungeons. As for trials, it's the same story in that you do your rotation and the build diversity is well... non existent.

Pvp however is dynamic, reaction based and also requires both a wider and deeper level of knowledge. You need to know your class in and out, including the build, then your opposition's and plan and implement tactics. Sometimes that is performing a combo, sometimes it is conserving resource to counter a combo and other times it is movment and positioning. All of which leads to dynamic and usually less predictable fights. The competition is a nice bonus.

The biggest thing for me pvp though is the build creation. 1 class could have 10+ specs all of which are good for specific roles - I have many warden builds on my YouTube channel that show this - dot based builds, tanky dps, tank healers, vampire based pvp builds and more. Add in proc sets being more useful and you get more creativity. The fact that armour, health and sustain are key factors means everyone isn't just in mothers sorrow + false God.

The question is why do you like pve @UGotBenched91 ?

Keep in mind I'm not top in either one(I'm a filthy casual who works and has five wonderful kids and a wife to spend time with) but pve is more like a waltz. You learn a rotation and mechanics and it's just 1234, 1234. PvP however can be reactionary and unpredictable. Off builds can surprise and even win some instances.

I enjoy both PvE and PvP.

With PvE you are playing to better your own high scores or whatever other metric you use to measure your own skill against static enemies(or group contribution, though that is a bit more dynamic and really only applies to support roles). Since the enemies are static, small improvements are easy to measure.

With PvP you are directly competing against other players...which has the advantage of being far more dynamic, but because of all the different variables its impossible to measure small improvements. I think if you play solely for PvP that you are doing yourself a disservice with ESO, there are many games that do it better, but ESO is nice for a mix of the 2.

Because its an ever evolving and changing landscape. PVE content just cannot match PVP content even if you use a random number generator to try and make every single PVE interaction unique. Eventually the player will have seen it all. Sure this can happen in PVP when people do the same thing over and over again, but there are always those moments I run into a player using their own build and their own fighting style. Keeps me on my toes and I'll never know what to expect when I log in each day.

Build and gameplay diversity.
I might feel like making a build for 1vs1, they will look almost completely different depending on class. Or I might wanna make a build suited for small scale with friends, then I'll pick skills and gear to support the new role. Or, a weird but fun gank build. Maybe I wanna make a support/heal for large scale combat. Maybe I want a build that's extremely useless for 1on1 but can bomb a zerg, but still giving good support (but not optimal) for small scale.
The change in gameplay, that comes from build diversity, is what I enjoy about pvp.

You can't find that in pve; most skills and gear sets are identical between classes, where it's only really changing between magicka and stamina.

They stopped increasing CP's but they in turn started increasing stats on gear. They have also made countless changes to skills, which they didn't used to do earlier (not on this scale). And it's done so that people will keep logging on, increasing the player activity for the game.

I'm not a PvPer, but the answer seems pretty obvious:

In PvE, you're fighting enemies who are controlled by scripted computer logic, and who (I'm told) do not do critical damage. If you go outside of their "home territory," they'll follow you up to a point just so they can try to get a hit in, but then they'll turn around and return to their normal location, completely ignoring any other players they pass along the way.

In PvP, you're fighting enemies who can behave in an uncontrolled, illogical, emotional, unpredictable, and unscripted manner, who can do large amounts of critical damage, and who just might follow you obsessively back and forth across the map until either you are dead or they are dead-- and if you do kill them, they'll come back to hunt you down again, and will remember you and seek you out day after day.

I'm just not a fan of playing DPS in group pve. I find that static rotation nature of to to get boring, so I prefer playing tanks and healers in that setting. But I do enjoy build damage dealing warrior types, I just prefer to build them them for PvP, as well as solo play.

I like PVE too but once I've done a dungeon/trial a few times I just would rather not repeat the process. PVP has so much more random amusing stuff that happens that keeps it entertaining.

PvE usually involves either steamrolling really easy enemies or grouping up to grind down massively powerful enemies (millions of HP, one-shot mechanics). PvP offers more balanced opponents. I also find it to be a lower pressure environment than tanking or healing in PvE.

It's dynamic, different every time.
Like the tactics in particular in small scale campaigns

Plus if I'm honnest originally I found end game Pve very try hard / elitist etc. PvP crew alot tighter & more welcoming.
