PVP players why do you prefer PVP over PVE

just seems like they are the type who like combat. In pve pvpers would rather duel you then dance together and spam emotes. They are just wired for killing. Though pvp can be fun in a group. Best fun I ever had was when a group of 10 of us ran up to a solo player in Cyrodiiil. We didn't kill them. We circled around them and started dancing before taking off. We have a rule that we don't attack solo players in the 'diil unless they are attacking a keep

There is way more build diversity and unique playstyle, I don't know if there is really playstyles in pve everyone looks the same doing the same rotation.

I like challenges and without any hesitation at all I can say that all the hardest encounters in the game are players, you get to really test you ability and build rather than just memorize patterns with muscle memory rotations, healing in PvP is infinitely more difficult also and I like healing.

The amount of knowledge you need about sets and builds to PvP at a high level is quite a bit, in PvE the enemies are not wearing gear or using different morphs or combinations of skills with precision timing and the only gear most people wear is the same 2 sets which doesn't matter.

Don't get me wrong there is some very hard PvE things in this game and it takes a lot of practice to get high dps numbers but it's not in the same realm of complexity as knowing individual players names, styles and dealing with intelligent opponents who can make decisions.

PVP is much more tactical and you have to be better/smarter than your opponent or your team has to have better team work.

PVE is the same content over and over again and if you know mechanics, its a guarantee win for you. Its fun initially I guess but that could never be the end game for me on ESO.
People still run trials years later knowing exactly what the boss is going to say word for word. I really have no idea where the fun is there.

No better feeling than beating a group of people in PVP

I (used to) love playing battlegrounds.

Its challenging and fast paced. Playing Battlegrounds with various characters is like playing Overwatch or similar, but with characters you made yourself.
I created them, raised them, learned them, mastered them, made them my own, adapting my own style.

I cannot get that in PvE. BiS or gtfo. If you want to approach it with the same mindest: the best you can do.

The occasional stomp is also sometimes pleasant :P

Pvp because it more dynamic, I rarely enjoy it these days, some dicky hammer is all that is new in 5-6 years.

PVE was great the first time around on my main. yawn fest now though, barely motivated to level alts with anything other than the XP gained via their daily writs. New zones.. same shi* different scenery zzz

I enjoy difficult content and competing against other players is always going to provide a challenge. No matter how good you are at pvp in this game you will eventually get bodied by someone.

I really enjoyed pve, dlc dungeons and trials. But eventually you reach max cp, get the best gear, and complete most of the content. Then it's no longer as challenging and engaging as it once was.

In PvE you do same rotation untill boss die. Then do it again. Then again and again and again... Some times boss put 1 hit KO effects on ground and you step aside.

When I play PvE, I want to sleep. Every enemy is a target dummy.

Well I started as a pve quester, did all the quests, all factions, all guild quests etc. It was my first multiplayer game and i was absolutely terrified of other players. After a year or two, they had added the activity finder and i entered a dungeon and it was ok! To play with 3 other players. Then some trials and by the time i got to vet trials i understood that this kind of gaming does not appeal to me at all. Like i have to stand in a certain place, run a rotation and at the right second have to move to some circle or dead. It was just like back at elementary school, trying to memorize stuff and repeat in the test. So then one day i thought to enter Cyrodiil to see this pvp and... i loved it from day one <3 i get incredible kicks from it, it is dynamic and exciting and just tons of fun. It is the best gaming experience of my life (when it works ;)), Cyrodiil pvp, i just love it. I only play my pvp chars anymore. Nothing in pve comes close to the battles in Cyro for me. It's just so fantastic, man.

In eso Overland/questing is the pure boredom for me, no choices how to solve a quest, no challenges, no to little moral decisions, main quests follows always the same dramatic sheme, riddles are a joke.

Visiting a dungeon/trial first time is fun, but after the 2 second run, when u know the mechanics it bored me aswell.

Pvp atleast every player is different. Some are trash, some are so good that it's unreal and everything between. Its more dangerous especially when u travel in Cyrodiil/ic alone. I like the unknown.
And when u don't a meta chaser the build possibilities are huge. Theorycraft pvp builds is a fun activity for me.

But it also have their boring routines. Especially cyrodiil needs additional things like the possibility to upgrade keeps/outposts/guards.
Possibilitie to farm the resources needed or atleast to speed it up via "working" in the mine etc. And the possibility to "slaughter" the worker to slow their progression and steal their resources and bring it to ur own keeps via
Caravans, where u can "steal" enemy's resources when unprotected to weaken them and speed up ur own progession, only to name a few.

    It needs more dynamic.

But pve is the money cow, so pvp don't get the love it's needed to be one of the best mmorpg pvp experience u could get atm, zos waste the potential it has.

You can change your build in many ways and this potential change how you play. also, skills used can also change how you play, unlike PvE where you are limited to certain skills, sets and play style. Also, skillful play matter in PvP even if you use proc sets, it just might lower you ability to be learn a bit if you use proc sets. Last thing, in non-CP environment, you are lvl 810 and you fight lvl 180, you laugh because you will kill them, 10 seconds later you are dead on the ground. PvP is choas most of the time.

I have done both PvP and PvE in all of the MMO's I've played and one thing I find about PvE is that it's too predictable (Across MMO's aswell, not tied to one, they all share the same mechanics) - You know the boss will do this at X minutes, that at Y minutes and do something else in intervals of Z - Once you figure that out (or in case of PC, someone makes an Addon) that's it and there's no more to it, you become a zergling waiting for commands.

Then, once you've hit that point, the only way to go is to go faster or learn how to avoid as much trash etc as possible.

PvP is different, you don't know when people are going to do X, Y or Z - Sure you have an understanding of their rotations and can learn as the fight goes on, but the next person you fight, or even the next time you fight that person, it could be entirely different - This is not true of PvE.

I have enjoyed PvE of course, but it cannot be compared to the ever changing PvP environment and honestly, if everyone in PvP only targetted a tank that I had in my group, whilst the healers healed him and all I had to do was sit at the back, firing abilities off whilst strafing left and right, it'd get equally boring, real quick.

Ultimately, PvP and PvE in this game is by far not the best or most enjoyable I've played and whilst it certainly had the potential to be, it's my opinion that the consistent catering to the wrong groups of players has ruined it.

Being part of a ball group and zerging is the worst gameplay and that's the least enjoyable thing in this game, I'm even disheartened if I'm fighting someone/people and a zerg shows up and just runs through them in my favour.

Because PvE is totally boring and repeatable. The only PvE activities I find a bit fun is soloing normal DLC dungeons or arenas like BRP, usually you have story there and fights require some level of agility, but its like first 2-3 runs, then It gets boring again. Same scripted fights all the time.

PvP is unpredictible, each "day" in Cyrodiil/IC is different... also this is why I usually like updates, because it changes meta. Even in PvP when I reach certain level of effciency I'm getting bored to eventually, because fighting the same people let's me predict outcome of most of such fights.

Generally I prefer PvP games. But in ESO not so much.

The PvP in this game simply is not very good, relatively low skilled and most of the time not much fun (if you are an actual PvP gamer, which most "PvP'ers" in ESO are not). Which is of course is why it is not very successful and why more broadly PvP is not successful in MMORPGs generally.

i prefer pve in all games. always have and always will.
i despise pvp in all forms.

HOWEVER, i do enjoy messing around in cyrodiil with friends, since a couple of them are hardcore cyro players.
it isnt the pvp itself, it is just the company i am with since i am close to them.
i get wrecked, and do not caaaaare. i just respawn and try again.
i group up with them and spam heals while they get kills. after i hit 25k AP i tell them i will see them next month 😆

i honestly do not know how they can just be in pvp for several hours every single day doing the same thing, and then i realized i am doing this exact thing in pve: the same thing for several hours every single day 😆

I'll tell you why I prefer PVE in this game. Because my main is a NB stam, and this is the weakest class for pvp. This is an unwanted guest in the Battlegrounds and not a required class for a raid in Cyrodiil. Now I have reached the 41st rank and I would not like to farm AP on another character. That's why pvp is hard enough for me and quickly gets boring. In other classes, especially warden or stamplar, it is much easier and more fun to play.

PvP, I find, is significantly more exciting.

You cannot read a guide or watch a video and "know the mechanics", when in a PvP situation.

There's all manner of possibility. Especially in smaller-scale fights.

Mind you. The chaos of a top-priority keep siege in Cyrodiil? Yeah, good luck finding something comparable in PvE.

I like all content but yes, PvP is absolutely my favourite. I like not knowing what I am walking into each fight.

I would say competition as well, but why trials and arenas have leaderboards that measure player performance and punish player mistakes (e.g. death = score drop, longer run = score drop etc.), but Battlegrounds, which is supposed to be the most competitive environment have cumulative leaderboard? The same is true for Cyrodiil and its Emperor leaderboard.

PvE has competitive leaderboards that measure player performance, but PvP has cumulative leaderboards that measure only time played. That's why I wouldn't call PvP more competitive than PvE.

    I enjoy player lead content.
I like that people are unpredictable and as such create funny/amazing scenario's.

NPC's don't hide behind barrels and wait for you to leave or wait until you are in the right position to use a magnum shot on you. They don't surprise you with their build choices etc...

I like being in a large scale battle and having a meaningful duel amongst the chaos. I enjoy the PVE side of things, but it can't beat the potential of possibilities other players bring to the table.

I am actually not a fan of PvP in this game. No matter what its still about gear and rotations despite all the talk that it isn't. Sure your rotations will vary more in PvP but its still the same concept eventually, if you just spam one move you will quickly run out of resources and buffs will drop.
Another reason why I don't like it may be because I still haven't figured out how the heck someone with his back to me, jumping up and down, running away or in circles while spamming melee weapon abilities can hit me every time yet; me facing them directly can only connect like 1 in 5 hits. I get more satisfaction being the healer in PvP, its funny watching 5+ people try and kill me while channeling Practiced Incantation.

For me PvE is about the exploration, the ability to go and do as I want and since I PUG dungeons a lot; having to carry the rest of the team makes it pose more of a challenge. I mean when my tank has more DPS than the other 3 players combined and they are all mid CP level or close to it...
If I want my PvP "assert my dominance" fix I just play any of the dark souls trilogy, nothing like getting you but kicked by a purple dude in his underwear and a dagger (typically its me on the receiving end of that scenario). Also blowing up tanks in WoT blitz is a good fix there too, you don't just get salt from enemy players but your own teammates too when they die for being stupid... well that happens in ESO too.

Side note: If mentioning other games is against forum policy; I'm new! I don't know what I am doing!

I think pve combat is boring and repetitive. Also making builds in pve is pointless, since you just build for 1 of the 3 roles and then basically follow the meta. But in pvp you can make a build to fit your playstyle and you have so much more choice.

The fights in PvP are far more challenging and exciting. I come to PvP for:
    - Challenging fights
    - Dynamic fights
    - Diverse build possibilities
    - Excitement
    - Play with friends
    - Competetive gameplay

If I want a more relaxing day, then I go to PvE. Even the vet DLC dungeons are relaxing after a couple of runs, since it's only repeating something you already completed. The only other incentive to run them for more than 10 runs is for more achievements and rare drops like resto staffs of cool healer sets I don't use anyway.

And the exploring, doing quests, leveling alts, crafting, zone achievements etc., I passed that station long ago.

I play stam nb in pvp aswell, and I find it has the best positioning /los play of all, even better then sorc.

With u27 a flanking playstyle will be more rewarding which I like (played assassins/sub rogue in wow). The only issue is the burst skill and a potent class self heal.

This class is not easy mode but a lot of fun, atleast for me :D
