This is the normal scheduled day for maintenance on PC. Expect it on this day, although the start and end times can vary, depending on what they are doing.Would love an explanation as to why NA & EU servers are maintained at the same time?
The megaservers apparently share some infrastructure across geographies. They used to do them at different times. Things got messed up. They changed it to happen at the same time.XBox EU/NA:@ElsonsoJannus

Hmm, suppose it would be better then if they always added in a time element for "Unexpected" and that would make it part of "Planned"
Not sure on this one but previous Unexpected somethings could have been;
The coffee pot was empty and they needed a meeting to decide who should make the next pot.
Someone brought jam donuts and jam dripped into a keyboard resulting in some code being altered (apparently)
The bring your child to work day had an unexpected hide and seek game but luckily they were found by someone in the Server Room and, of course, before anything was touched or...

Maybe, but it is more likely that Bob forgot his mask and had to run home.
More seriously, I expect that the maintenance is to do maintenance on things like the database system, which involves backups and then running jobs, and when something goes wrong, it could take longer.XBox EU/NA:@ElsonsoJannus
