Is ESO worth it to return?

This question is probably going to be the deciding factor.
When I played on console the main problems I had were the following (which is why I stopped playing):
1: Large scale PvP was impossible. As soon as you get to a siege the game would sputter, attacks won’t fire, and you die without anything hitting you. BG was leagues better.
2: PvE would sometimes lag out but not frequently. This was evident in VMA.
3: infinite load screens which eventually froze.
These were the performance issues I had. Does pc have the same?

I was lucky enough to be able to upgrade to a new pc recently (very high spec CPU and GPU) and the difference in performance over my older PC and Mac (good spec) is massive. So I would advise that if your hardware and internet connection are anything less than optimum then be prepared for some deeply frustrating issues.

Money is not an issue fortunately. I am planning on building a pc with top of the line components. Right now o have a good one.
I came from Xbox eso and love RPG and online play. But like I said, after 4 years of time it’ll be upsetting starting over but a part of me feels it’ll be worth it.
I have 150mbps Internet, hardwired.
Is it worth it? I keep hearing the stability in pc is awful.

I was gonna say "The only positive thing for console is that you can play from the couch" but realized you can play ESO with a controller on PC.. from the couch..
Either way, everything is better on PC.
I started completely fresh on NA earlier this year. I wanted to feel that experience of "I have lots of things to do and a reason to go exploring" again. I played casually for maybe 2 months and got to CP 400.
It really doesn't take that long to get going again tbh. Go for it and GL!

StamPlar_1976✭✭✭✭Depends on if you are willng to grind everything back up. Me personally, I wouldn't. Too much time and money invested to just start over. Better graphics? Yeah I'll give PC that. Better performance? YMMV. Add ons are the main draw to make me want to cross over. But not enough for me to grind back three years of items, CP and unlocks.

1. outside of the Midyear Mayhem event, there is some desync in Cyro. it happens regardless of it your in battle or not or if there is people on screen or not. The desync isnt dropped FPS or lag. Its something more subtle that happens for a second or two randomly. Its sort of like a movie having the audio dubbing off by a second or so. Outside of this most performance issues will be machine based.
2. This depends a lot on your PC.

Hardware on PC makes all the difference. Many people will skimp on other parts of their computer but put in a $500 video card so it looks awesome. But video cards need support and this game will bottleneck a lot.
CPU: You need a good modern CPU that can perform well under a load.
Memory: the more the better. But really 16 gb is the minimum for good performance in ESO.
Video card: If you want 4k graphics its going to need to be a good card. 10 series or better for a good frame rate on high settings.
Storage: This is really important and often overlooked. You need big storage for this game because its size so at least 512 GB on your main disc. But ESO has large files and a lot of them it needs to access. So an SSD will cut access time in about half. M.2 NVMe will cut it down to about 1/4 to 1/3 from an HDD depending on the M.2
I run i7-8700, 32 GB of high performance ram, GTX1070, and 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus. 4k and ultra i get 60-100 FPS everywhere 95% of the time. My load times are instant to near instant for wayshrine to wayshrine in zone. Zone to instance is 5-15 seconds. Major city to major city is 15-20 seconds. First time load into game and loading into a major city at the wayshrine is 25-30 seconds. This is pretty consistent regardless of what is going on.
Then you have the desync issue that has spread outside of cyro. No amount of hardware affects that. That is something in the game code.
Edit: I should note that i stopwatched the load times for a comparison for something else and that all those load times were for Rimmen and Western Skyrim. I have not tested in base game zones but would imagine its less since they use older tech that will have smaller files.Edited by Anotherone773 on July 4, 2020 4:10PM1 -

As long as your rig and internet set-up is optimal then there is very little issue in any campaign that isn't pop locked, even during prime time.
Having said that, during prime-time on pop locked campaigns you cannot play as intended no matter what set-up you are using. Avoid like the plague !1 -

I normally pop the cover off and look inside the case. Im sure there is a way to check with software but im not on a PC with an SSD at the moment or even windows 10 actually. But if you want to do a physical check this will help you tell the difference with pictures and descriptions. As you can see a NVMe PCIe SSD looks kind of like a memory card but with the pins on the wrong side, It connects directly to the motherboard via a slot. A SATA drive looks like a skinny HDD and uses cables to attach to the motherboard. A SATA SSD is about 4-5 times faster than a mid range HDD. A low end NVMe is about 3 times faster than a SATA SSD. Those speeds make a big difference in load times especially if your working with smaller RAM.1 -

Stamcro and Stamden are still the strongest classes. Magden and magcro are the strongest zerglings classes.
Stamblade still hits like a truck, magblades are tanky af, DK in general is in a good spot (leap ftw)
Magsorc is still easy and probably the best 1vsX class apart from stamcro and Stamden.
Templar in general is in a good spot.

TheCaptainJosh✭✭✭I'm a little late to the discussion, but I recently transitioned from Xbox to PC after playing on and off again since console release.
It's definitely tough, but I would for sure recommend learning eso on mouse and keyboard. I don't have a fancy MMO mouse, it has three thumb buttons and one under the mouse scroll wheel. And I do just fine in dungeons and pvp.
So far my experience has been great, I'm able to enjoy the game like I used to before I started to get really sweaty. You have prior game knowledge, which helps you progress faster and gives you clear and concise goals to work towards. this also helps in pugs, it's fun helping low levels through dungeons while still being a lowbie yourself.
I don't play much of cyrodill, because the servers themselves are still pretty bad. But battlegrounds are still great, especially under 50.
Tldr; give it a shot. Yes some of the server issues still persist but you're starting over, not going for emperor or running vet trials. The server issues will not impact your performance to the degree that you can't enjoy the game. And the add-ons make the game 100% better than on console, I wouldn't go back for anything.
P.S. there are plenty of guilds full of people ready to help people like you and me get a good foundation!AugustusGray

I have a delay in almost all pvp fight BG’s IC and cyro. I’m like a second or so behind everyone else my ping isn’t bad or low fps it’s so annoying then some days I’ll hit a POT or ability 4 to 8 times and won’t go offDC PC NA

I remember when stamden came, everyone was displeased with it because of the delayed sub assault, after testing it for a month i win 1vs18 in IC, yet few mins after i got obliterated by 1 random PvP guy, thats because those players werent all PvP players
When i say stamsorc is trash im talking about the passives, and that 90% of the class kit is magsorc biased, but that doesnt mean a stamsorc cant be powerful in the right hands. We have sustain and mobility thats it, compare it to stamcro, major protection on demand, built in unavoidable major defile spammable etc.0 -

Karmanorway is right, except about stamblades, they are the trash of PvP and can't even burst players in light armour.
Problem with stamsorc is that is has almost no usefull class skills or passives, so the skillbar is mostly filled with skills everyone has access to or that are almost the same on every class. You have to build around those usefull passives. And healing, it's just ***. Stamsorc became even harder with the recent healing nerf.
edit: Oh, and the new Malacath ring every build has, can't be used by a stamsorc unless you drop one of your main healing skills..Edited by caperb on July 4, 2020 9:15PM0 -

✭✭✭✭✭OP, the short answer to your question as to whether it's worth returning or not is that you'll find out by playing the game, not by reading the forum. The forum is full of players who aren't having fun, while the game is full (and I do mean "full") of current players who are having fun.
As for starting over, plenty of players do that already either by switching platforms or by playing on the other regional server. They often find that it gives them a whole new enthusiasm for the game.

By people who dont use steam probably. All of my games are through steam and i have nearly 100 titles ive collected over a decade of using steam. ESO is the ONLY game ive ever had issues with and its extremely rare and usually fixed in a few hours. It is basically login issues. Some people get frustrated if they cant play when they want to play even once. But i play ESO everyday and its cost me a few hours of play time one day in the last year. So they are making a mountain out of molehill.0 -

I don't use Steam. But there are some unique connectivity issues related to steam and ESO. No idea why or how prevalent those issues are though.The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
