Is ESO worth it to return?

So I’ve played ESO on Xbox since release. But now I have a powerful gaming PC and would love to get back into it.
The thing that holds me back is starting from absolute scratch. I have lots of gold, Flawless on all toons, and I have researched all traits on all pieces of armor and weapons.
So you can see why I’m nervous about doing this.
1) is it worth starting from scratch on PC? Is there a huge difference? Eg lag in PvP.
2) What has changed in the last several months. Last time I played was a month after Elsweyr. When I was on last time, the best classes were StamCro and MagBlade and sorcerer, which was my favorite class, was nerfed to Oblivion. Is Sorcerer still trash pvp?
3) What is community and economy like in PC than on Xbox?
4) Is there any way to xer my Xbox account to my PC? Idc about the gold I just want my traits lol.
5) Is there any new mechanics for combat?

Please, all advice is appreciated.

    1. Keyboard and Mouse is so much better to play, but you can use a controller.
    2. Addons. Nuff said.
    3. Better Graphics
    4. Better Performance
    5. Did I mention Addons?

Trait Research is a pain, but most sets you want to craft you can find a guild to help you with. Leveling to 810 is not that bad a grind as you can do most of the content you want at much lower levels on the way to 810.

Oh yes, one more thing. Addons.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

What are some new things now? Is Sorc still trash?

    What is lazy writ crafter?
Also, what are class standings now? When I stopped playing Templar’s were on top when the DoT meta was in high gear.
Since I would be starting g from scratch I would want to make sure I’m not wasting time leveling a bad toon.
My favorite class is sorc and StamCro.

This is very accurate, on all points.

I have known more than a few players that have moved from console to PC and adapted quite well. They are good players. I started on PC, went to Xbox and came back. It is a very different world on PC even before considering add-ons. As Nestor noted, better performance goes a long way. ofc, part of that performance depends on ones PC specs.

    2) Combat is all over the place now, but that wouldnt matter outside of performance regardless of platform.
    3) Economy good, Community meh. Lot of toxic elitism in group content.
    4)I dont think its possible.

    It is amazing.

I interact with the board and all my writs for that board are picked up. I go to each crafting station and the needs for that writ are automatically crafted (one can have it wait until you tell it to start crafting). I turn in the writs and my rewards are automatically opened for me so I do not need to open any container myself. This is also a customizable setting and it only opens normal crafting reward items but does not consume master writs.

It takes a fraction of the time to do writs when using this amazing add-on.

@gamerguy757 In other words, doing writs is not much of a chore with this addon.

So what would you say is top Stamina Toon? I ask bc I will need a crafter again since I’ll have to redo it all sad face. And I like to have a sprinting class.
    Also how is MagSorc?
Oh I mean the last time I played the main mechanic was DoTs. They overtook everything. What’s the new meta?

Night blade in general is pretty good. A have a stamblade that is does good. Its my all purpose character. Magsorc is still pretty strong. You will need to make some adjustments. In Pvp i am seeing a lot of nightblades and sorcerers. A lot of people are doing vampires now so anything they can pair well with that.

MagSorc is still fun. You csn do Pets or AoE or Single Target. The balance in this game is better than some people on the forums would have you believe.

Orcs in the right gear can be as fast as a horse and literally sprint across the entire zone. Well, maybe not all the way across Cyrodiil

Some people play on both, so you might be able to find another player to sell mats to on one platform for gold on another. Obviously, only someone trusted like a friend or guildie.

And nothing anyone will say can make the trait grind better, but honestly, it's so easy to get someone else to craft gear for the mats, and you can buy the research scrolls to double the speed

If you don't mind doing overland content again for the Xth time: yes
For experiencing ESO on a PC (better graphics, add-ons, mouse and keyboard): absolutely!
If you are into endgame PvE or competitive PvP: do yourself a favour and stay away from this game. Anything near to competitive endgame is unplayable due to low performance.

As for the classes, necro and warden are still the strongest classes by a huge margin and magsorc is still going strong (seems to dodge every nerf).

Combat changed a bit. Block-cancel and bash-weaving got nerfed. We've got a lot of new sets and options with the new greymoor patch, because of 1 item sets.

Don't know if ZOS still does account transfers, probably not, but it won't hurt to ask them.

And about the community, don't know about Xbox but PC EU is quite decent and helpfull. Of course there will be kids, but they're everywhere.

For players that are accustomed to a controller, this would make sense. However, after taking the time to get used to the keyboard and mouse (with an MMORPG mouse) it opens up a lot more possibilities that are not possible otherwise. But it does take time to remap hands (and I guess the ole brain) to the change.

Greymoor is the best patch in a long time and the first patch in years I consider an upgrade in all regards rather than another downgrade.

Unfortunately the biggest problem still persists, which is delays and lag. I am afraid things have gotten worse from what I have heard. It appears impossible for them to ever fix or better it.

Man y’all are tempting me lol.
My birthday was yesterday so I got a steam gift card.
I was going to use it for Fallout 3 and 4 and mod them (got bored with Skyrim) but now I’m tempted to go back to ESO.
    1) I was never good at making gold in the game. I would always just grind mobs and sell the trash. Any tips for someone starting from 0?
    2) I will be leaving over 4K if each mat and upgrade material (except gold. I never golded gear). Are there still any mobs that drop scraps to refine or are they all gone?
    3) any guilds that will help a new guy get started? Even though I’m not a new guy? My tanking skills were on point and my favorite role. Of course that’s when I had ebon set and the Cloudrest set and Lird warden.
    4) If I start again, my first toon would be a Redguard Necro or Orc StamSorc. StamSorc was my favorite PvP class due to the speed and Wrecking Blow kills I’d get. Is StamSorc still good for PvP?

IF it were me, no. I'm going to ignore bugs (yeah yeah like ZOS).

Biggest issue for me is the sameness of releases (specifically the chapters). Sure they are interesting from a visual point of view but the writing seems weaker and weaker. If you did the first five quest in the game congratulations you've pretty much ran the gauntlet of what you'll encounter from now on but you know that. But the grind through them, assuming that's how you level is so maddeningly boring. I've got a handful of level 50 characters but only one has done all the quests themselves. And you might as well because you're going to be running all over the place for shards and books so its some respite from that chore.

The crafting if you want that on your character is another time sink. If you're just going to use dropped gear you will probably save some time transmuting gear so you'll at least need to research some. If you plan to craft, a lot of sets need all nine researched. That's a really bad one. Of course you can always buy your way through.

Collectables will have to be rebought but I'm not sure that's as big a problem because you probably learned by now how much you use them. But if you have a big library, you'll be leaving it behind to restart missing what will come available on your original system.

No one can really tell you what would be best for you and maybe they'll port the game over to the new systems when they launch making you wish you'd stuck with it. I know for myself there's no way I'd switch to console now even though I'd actually prefer it especially if they got a handle on some performance issues consoles have. I question still playing (I really don't except for launches and events) so I couldn't see switching but that's up to the individual.

I also switched from console to PC. In the long run it’s worth it because the social aspect is better on console. But, careful with Addons as I downloaded lazywrit and it caused massive lag until I deleted it. But, it sounds like that’s rare.

You will miss the comfort though. Console > PC when it comes to comfort. I don’t care how fancy of a chair you got I miss laying on my couch being able to play the game.

Actually I play PC on my couch. I don’t like the feel of a keyboard and mouse and I don’t have a desk. My PC is connected to my 75in TV on game mode. No wireless controller no input lag on any games.

I usually level from 1-50 using mobs in the Alikr. That was t that big of a problem. Of course it was easy with full training gear.
It’s the gathering all gear again that’s daunting to me

Im in the same situation as you, although i already made my decision to start over on pc because i was building a new pc anyways to play other games so i thought id jump back into eso and see what its like compared to xbox.
I came from xbox after playing for over a year. maxed cp and many achievements. Its going to be a tough grind but i really did enjoy this game before console performance got unbearable probably around when Elswyer was released mid last year.
So far on my new gaming pc, the difference is incredible. loading times are super fast, gameplay is alot smoother especially in populated areas (you can actually see players and abilities/animations working) if your coming from playing on console you'll know what i mean lol.
    good luck starting over !

I'd strongly advise against buying ESO through Steam, it just introduces a lot of login etc problems and is completely unnecessary. If you must get it that way, at least do some research here on Steam first.

As you're used to playing on console without add-ons I'd also recommend starting on PC without them. Get the feel for the game's performance on PC and then if you do decide to use add-ons you'll be better able to judge which if any affect your performance. Don't assume that all PC players use them, they don't, and particularly not the hand-holding ones that show you what to do and where to go the whole time, for many they just trivialise the game to the point where people then complain that it's too easy and there isn't enough to do!
