Do leads expire in 30 days?

I have heard that leads expire in 30 days from multiple people, but I can't seem to find where this information is in game. Can someone confirm that this is true?

    Yes.

I believe it's in the Help section for Antiquities, as well as the patch notes posted here on the forum.

Someone said a timer shows up once you have 7 days left.

If they expire, you can find them again (if you haven't gotten around to doing it by then)

Thank you for the info! I was hoping that it wasn't true. xD

Should be removed or actually added to the UI.

Why do I feel like I'm going to find "90 day lead expiration!" on the list of eso+ perks pretty soon?

Not before next year if at all I think. The time limit means you buy Greymoor or you lose the fancily coloured lead that you were lucky to get but will probably have to grind to find again.
Once it becomes a DLC "everyone" will have Antiquities and the need for a time limit diminishes.

    Annoying.

Doing overland stuff and (vet) dungeons I get some (often gold) leads but I have not done more than 1 of them yet.
I hear from guildies that it may require up to 30 dungeon runs to get one.

    Not very encouraging prospect.

Why do they expire in the frst place? It's rather illogical when talking about ancient treasures that have been there for 1000s of years. It's not that the tombs in Egypt disappear after a month if you don't dig them up fast enough.

Maybe that's just unlucky RNG. So far I have found several gold leads by doing solo normal mode dungeons on the second attempt. I guess the worse part is queuing for 45 minutes for the ones that can't be easily solo'd.

I find it funny that they are trying every trick in the book to make us to buy greymoor.
Since I don't like that on principal, and they didn't fix the game yet (Kudos for fixing some of the memory leak though) which is still full of a lot of bugs (we are back to pre harrowstorm performance-wise more or less) and even introduced new bugs (most apparent is game fps drops when mobs that give xp dies).

Ye sure the leads I am so excited to do (sarcasm) expiring soon is definitely the thing that will make me buy greymoor (more sarcasm)

Because they have to somehow keep you hooked on searching for them. More time playing ESO, more chances to spend on Crown store. It's all business.

No, but other adventurers might get there before you and cut you out of the discovery.

At least, that's the lore reason for the expiration. It's supposed to reflect the "gotta act quick" nature of treasure-hunting rumors.

No. You can excavate the parts you found as soon as you find them (assuming you have the level to do so). AFAIK the parts that were dug don't expire.

Does that mean we will also lose the one free green lead we got for each zone if it is not used in 30 days as well? I have not gotten around to doing antiquities yet since I'm re-grinding vMA but I don't want to lose my leads.

I don't see it as a problem. If you are not actively looking for leads, then you don't have to worry about the ones you find expiring because you will find them again after.

If you are actively looking for leads, why are you not digging them up as you find them? It's not like leveling the skill line takes a ton of time. The only lead I have that I'm not able to excavate at the moment is an orange one, and that should come in a week tops.

But how easy is it to get them again? I don't even know where i got al those leads .. a pjsijic order find? Some tough veteran dungeon that I won' t do again a lot? From a WB I ran into and I helped kill when I was chasing skyshards?

I mean: i have dozens and dozens of them. And perhaps one of them is a very rare find and the one I like the most of all.

So now I feel pushed to start doing them before they expire and that's just annoying. :|
