How would you rate the Greymoor Chapter out of 10 - with 10 being the highest?

Thanks all for the input. Looks like I made the right call not buying this chapter. I was under the impression that offered too little for too much money and I'm not even interested that much in Skyrim. If ZoS insists on keeping this price tag for chapters they should be at Morrowind level with new elements and things to do, also better story.

Yea you dont miss out much, the Antiquities are kind nice, the Zone looks well, the story is...kind forgetable.
Its overall just...not impressive- not for a chapter. Its "acceptable" so a rating of 5 from 10, but no way its a blast.

My experience with the chapter is being funneled through poor performance (4 crashes already). Like the creative director, I will use an offset car analogy to explain my position:

I gave this DLC a ten.

I have not come across many bugs in the whole game at all, nor lag. However, I will state that I probably have a vary different style of play in this game that perhaps most of its players have. I prefer PvE and avoid all PvP areas, which I understand most of the lag occurs. I play a vary slow game; I don’t race about trying to complete the game as quickly as I can. Neither do I race about trying to find everything the game has to offer. My play style is simply to walk around the map at a vary leisurely pace, just simply enjoying the countryside, the towns, the cities, etc. I love the sounds and atmosphere of the game, I find it quite relaxing and tranquil.

If I want some harder, faster paced action, it’s there. If I want PvP, it’s there. If I want PvE, it’s there. If I just want to walk about in a peaceful area where I seldom meet other players, it’s there.

    I love it.

The new zone is nice and the antiquities are something different, but overall it's just not as good as Morrowind or Summerset.

Well, I'm still sitting here waiting for the download for the PS4 to finish. But, I'll give it an 8 because with all the crap going on in the world, thank you ZOS for releasing anything this year. I'm looking forward to it and like others have said, the scenery looks fantastic (from what I've seen from the PC players).

would not claim even in a slightest that my rating is an objective one. it is a subjective personal opinion nothing more nothing less, your millage may vary and all that.

for me it was straight down the middle. there were some good parts, there were some bad parts and there were some meh parts. I didn't hate it. i didn't love it. it was... ok. decent enough overall.

It wasn't bad exactly, but it's by far my least favorite expansion. By going back to an area most of us have fond memories of, it needs to be amazing and it just wasn't. I feel like all the other areas we've visited have been creative and unique and I've gotten to explore new things in a way I didn't with Graymoor. The new zone is just kind of meh imo. Add to that the antiquities is just way too grindy rather than fun and there aren't any good sets from the new trial. Werewolves got a nice, needed buff but my vamps all took the cure. Everything about the expansion is just meh.

Theres only one exception to the meh for me. I'm still incredibly pissed about the vMA, vDSA weapons and the whole car analogy. I'll take the old car thanks, you can just take Graymoor back and I'll save the time of regrinding stuff.

Six, and that rating is nearly 100% due to the nice visual trip down the Skyrim memory lane. This part has been done extremely well. But for me that is where it stops....

The main story is cheesy, and predicable, the Harrowstorms, well meh thanks for the great rewards after waiting an hour! The Vampire line is really only a RP flavour skill line now and the new Antiquities is a 2nd rate mobile phone game grind.

They missed the great opportunity to makes a new Bard skill line, but predict this will be the "next great ESO expansion" when they get their head around how they are going to incorporate this class into the game. Predict they will cookie cut the EQ version of this class so it is a utility/buff bot style character.

Why when all of it can be completed within less than 2 days of normal play? Greymoor is absolutely a new low and the worst Chapter they released so far because everything feels regurgitated and the features it has to offer are non-existent. And the worst: it comes with a heavy price tag yet offers less than any Chapter before.

If you compare the content of Greymoor to ANY expansion for ANY AAA MMORPG it's laughable how much you get in ESO compared to basically every other of the games.

2 days of normal play? People normally sleep, and they don't normally sit in front of a game for even 12 hours. in any given 24 hours. I'd say that 2 weeks of dedicated play, for a normal person, one with a life, is much closer. Likely longer for many people. That is how long it took me to level the skill line, then do all the world bosses, skyshards, points of interest, dungeons, and delves, and complete the main quest and a number of side quests, minus the trial. As a frame of reference, I did Warlords of Draenor while on break from ESO in less time.

I intended to come back and rate it after I played through the zone and story, but nope. I have been generous to give this buggy POS a 4. The initial cutscene (you know, the one that is supposed to introduce you to the brand new chapter that you paid a goodly chunk of money to access?) made the game crash to dashboard so I had to youtube it to find out what I missed. 🙄

But wait, there’s more! Lag and glitches we are all used to, but constantly getting thrown off the server with the “you’ve spammed too many messages” on top of it all is depressing. I mean, Elsweyr had a few bugs and some intermittent lag, but Greymoor leaves it in the dust with all of its problems.

I really wish I had gone with my initial choice to not buy this expansion until much later, but boredom got the better of me. Sure hope I’m able to play sometime soon, because my game won’t even log in now. ☹️

A+ for zone design, environmental, music etc as always the guys who are in charge of that deserve a much praise but its nothing really above average in terms of story and new additions. Antiquities is cool and all but hardly ground breaking and is another skill that feels so anti-alt and time wasting like Psijic and Mages Guild, I know people cry about rushing etc but that's how I play, I want access to the cool stuff so have to mindlessly grind out a skill over and over again.
Plus the collectors edition statue was cheap looking and pretty rubbish compared with the others which put me in a bad mood after spending nearly £120 for it.

Considering how much it further broke the game and made some zones completely unplayable, not to mention that nothing really is going to get fixed until over a month after drop and probably not until U27 I can't go higher than 3 and that even feels high.

Probably worst chapter so far. 1.No major performance fixes, more bugs than I have ever encountered so far, spanning through all activities, and going unfixed for weeks. Problems with access to the chapter itself. 2. vampire revamp caused most playstyles to cure vamps, people angry with maelstrom changes too. 3. main quest have too many similarities to main quest of previous chapters, big gender disbalance of npc's questgivers, and most quests are either copies from previous zones, or unmemorable. Also, no overall sense of 'Dark heart', when playing trough the chapter. 4. Wayshrines are not conveniently located, hunting harrowstorms is a pain, without good rewards. Even vampiric furniture, is almost the same as alinor one. Also, why devs tease people, saying, they added new furniture paintings, when in reality, we all know, what are the chances to get one (same as vvardenfell ones, that are nearly impossible to find)
Good things are landscape, it is gorgeous, quick fix of antiquity system, also, new models for furniture there. I also found 2 really good quests.

"Big gender disbalance of npc's questgivers ..."

Uh, what? Not enough guys? Not enough ladies?

*psst* I think they're complaining about the opposite, it's been a whole thing on the forum lately that apparently there's too many women in Skyrim. Because we all know the pseudo vikings don't have women, only burly dudes with beards. Or something.

Performance issues alone should prevent the avg costumer from forking over that much cash, one of the biggest problems with online gaming is costumers have just accepted that developers run all over them. We should have higher standards...

    1. Zone itself is gorgeous.
    2. Antiquities has been fun and even more so now that they patched the excavation issue.
    3. Harrowstorm rewards are too meh considering how hard they are to get to; etc., etc.
    4. Furnishing recipes are too rare.
    5. Having said that, I don't care for the Skyrim or Vampire furnishing styles. I only like the vampire rugs.
    6. Storyline of main quest is too redundant. PLEASE for the LOVE OF THE 8--get an editor to REJECT every trope in the game and veto the same tired rehashed plotlines and cookie-cutter characters. Take a risk and make a MEMORABLE story. There is SO MUCH LORE in the game--use it!
    7. Public dungeon quest was fun but if you are going to have creatures from other times and places pop up then take better advantage of it and throw in something epic--Akaviri, sloads, a group of dwemer warriors.

    On the plus (+) side:

+ Both zones are visually stunning and really well constructed by the Zone Building and Art Teams. I can reference a post I made the very first day of PTS ... but this can't be acknowledged enough. Many thanks to the ZOS folks who had contributions in those areas. The nostalgia factor is indeed high.

+ Antiquities has been a pleasant surprise. I was nervous about it after the initial announcement. The limited info from ZOS seemed to suggest that it would not benefit the playstyles I enjoy the most: PvP, crafting, and Vet content. The new PvP siege weapon is a nice luxury for keep battles, and the mythic items are definitely fun just trying to theorycraft builds (much less actually use them).

+ Some of the gear set and monster set buffs have been enjoyable to play so far (including the upgraded perfected Arena weapons). Conversely, some of the nerfs (see Bloodspawn) might be too much of an over-correction given the current combat environment, IMO.

    On the minus (-) side:

    - Vampire is a disappointment for pretty much any non-DPS role. I cured my vampire healers. At least I could put the refunded skill points towards Antiquities.

    - Still a lot of locked doors in overland buildings (Blackreach too) ... I wish they'd just remove the "chained door" asset from the builder tools.

You did Warlords of Draenor in less time than Greymoor? Sorry, this is nonsense. WoD, the second worst WoW expansion, in comparison offers 5 zones, 10 dungeons and multiple raids. Greymoor has a short trial and one single zone. And you tell me it took you less time to complete the Warlord's stuff? Good joke.

The delves are mostly copy & paste. World bosses as well. Why do we even count skyshards and points of interest? That's not content, that's just a basic part of every zone.

Greymoor is simply not worth it's hefty price tag for the amount of content it actually delivers (=quests). And yes, you can absolutely complete Greymoor's main story within 2 days of normal playtime. Not necessarily all quests, that might take a whole week but the main story is shallow and short. A beautiful zone doesn't make up for the lack of content and playtime. There's a reason why so many rate Greymoor as the worst Chapter yet.

I had less than 2 weeks left on my WoW subscription. I was able to blow through a zone in a little more than a day, after work and on weekends. WoW zones are not that complicated. I know I did one character through all 5 zones to level 100 (primary goal). I did other characters and content as time permitted, but when my sub ran out, I felt done.

There's some good stuff in it; I like the new trial and antiquities, but the chapter feels very unfinished and lacking polish. So many bugs: missing characters, voice lines not matching text, mouths not moving, broken quests, etc. Even small aesthetic things like books and containers floating above where they should be standing. The whole thing feels rushed and ill-considered, pushed out just to get in some revenue. Part of me regrets buying it and wish I'd waited for it to be 'bargain-bin' material.

Since I value performance in group content the highest, this is what my rating is taking into context.

    Base game- 6
    Morrowind- 8
    Summerset- 8
    Elsweyr- 6
    Graymoor- 3

Tldr: They need to fix performance in group pve and pvp.

    PS4 Pro Player here.

I plan to make a thread going in depth about Greymoor in a variety of areas as soon as I finish up absolutely everything. I’d like to totally complete the content/pinpoint every new issue and potential improvements.

    As of right now though:

    Zone:
The zone looks nice besides the occasional floating assets or when the ground textures fail to load about 1/3 of the time. Quests are alright... nothing amazing like we saw with Orsinium (finished maybe 70% of Greymoor quests so far). Antiquities wouldve been a lot better if it could be leveled easily and not made into a massive grind. Of course, this is merely to make it feel like a huge new feature when really it’s two mini games tied to Furnishings, three motifs, and some new OP gear (since we got no new classes or combat skill lines......). However, it was awesome that Treasure Maps now have a logical use so I was happy about this. Some bugs are present with antiquities unfortunately though too.

Greymoor’s downfall is that it heavily lacks polish. In terms of Greymoor’s actual new content/experiencing that content, it’s a solid 5. Not a bad chapter. It’s alright, but just doesn’t compare to the previous chapters. I loved Morrowind and Summerset, and also liked Elsweyr.

In terms of game performance. Well..... All you did ZOS was reduce bar swap timer from 0.5sec to 0.25sec. At first I thought this was to help with combat fluidity (which is does a bit despite new bugs). Now I realize it’s because if you didn’t do this, combat would have become truly unplayable in trials.

Where are your performance improvements ZOS? Because whatever you did, FPS/game stability has noticeably dipped. This is apparent in housing, trials, arenas... everywhere. Guild Stores take even longer to access/search in. NPCs being invisible, players being black silhouettes, textures not loading, effects and audio are missing all around, vss permanent dragon breath bug is now far more consistent, etc. Every time I cycle between styles at an outfit station, my character fades in/out every single time it shows the preview with a single item changing. Things got worse. Simple as that.

How long will this go on until you actually improve things? Game performance and stability has once again become worse. It’s a failure, 1 out of 10.

This leads me to overall rate this Chapter a 3 out of 10.

Lastly, Big Props to your zone design team who definitely work their butts off under a tight schedule to deliver this content. Basically anyone who isn’t in charge of combat changes. I think they did well to capture the feel of Skyrim. It would be nice if I could experience that content without grass, plants, trees, NPCs, audio, players, and ground textures all failing to load when I ride my mount.

And it’s not that I’m negative and rate everything low btw. I’d give almost all of the DLCs/Chapters really high grades. But not Greymoor. Fix the game. :unamused:

+ Zone is nicely design, even when you see lack of new assets in Skyrim (Blackreach is still great)
+ Some of side quests are good (dwarven public dungeon one was great with it mysterious plot, refreshing to see something like this)
+ New trial is better then SS, even if it still lacks mechanics and last boss fight being too long (adding new mechanics to the fight and lowering boss HP would fix that)

    - New trial gear is trash
    - Main story is really bad, like a fanfic and not a proper ES content
    - Lack of new, interesting characters (ok, Fenn was one good but it isn't enough)
    - New system is just another grind (rewards are okay but process could be more interesting then mobile game)
    - Performance, enough said
    - Inbalance in PvP bigger then ever
    - Content was rushed and clearly shows that ZOS development plan is too tight to give us good quality content. 4 times a year = drop in quality
    - This would be 1 instead of 3 but i didn't buy physical collector edition. Statues that ppl got are definitely not what was advertised
    - Some of the decisions shows that devs don't care about players feedback if it isn't sharing their agenda
    - Overall pretty weak year after year of performance degradation and bad balance decisions
    edit for typos

This right here is a perfect report of the expansion. Explains clear as day.
