Some great suggestions in this thread.
I’d say to also let us PLACE OUR CHARACTERS as if they are furnishings in our home. That way we can see all of our characters at once, and the home can feel more lively.
I really want those board games (for example, Alinor Gaming Table, Punctilious Conflict) to have mini games attached to them, where you can play against a computer or against a friend. It would be so cool.

Okay, perhaps my idea and that of others that it would have this side-effect is up to debate. Why do you think it won't affect the population of cities, because of how trading is?DreamsUnderStars wrote: »"having everyone hanging 24/7 in their homes would suck the life of every city"
Can we just stop with this notion please? This will never happen even if they put every service available in the game in houses.

I loved the gardening system there).
Greetings,
having everyone hanging 24/7 in their homes would suck the life of every city, therefore I can't see them putting ways to collect/finish writs in the house. But what about smaller things, or more flavorful if you will? Example: some type of rested XP (extra bonus perhaps if you "sleep" with the player you're married to) put those beds to good use! Some kind of other buff from a decorative item, be it food, instrument, sitting near the hearth etc. (stacks with food/drink), have your own blood slave as a vampire, coffins decreasing vampire stage, a way to use wayshrines directly from within the house, gardening, last but not least, unique quests given by NPC's you've recruited or something like that.
These are just some silly ideas from the top of my head. So, if you like the idea, please, do share yours!
One of the reasons it happened in WoW and Garrisons was indeed because there was not much else to do, so yes, you're right that it would never be that bad with ESO, but having everything in the house would definitely affect some areas of the game. For example, I believe the reason that so many still prefer to do their writs in Vivec city is because every station is so close to one another, for me, being such a huge Vvardenfell nerd -- I would hate it if one day I visited and it was empty, and I think it would be if they let us do writs in the house. I simply like seeing people running around doing their business, maybe you're right and it won't affect things much, but that's how I see it.DreamsUnderStars wrote: »"having everyone hanging 24/7 in their homes would suck the life of every city" is just an old and failed argument against housing being more than just a set piece. Even in EQ2 and I think Rift which allowed you to have everything, people weren't always in their houses because there is more to the game than that.

I like the idea of gardening, too.
Maybe a way to raise or train our own pets/mounts.

Maybe even the option to purchase add ons (new rooms, floors, etc.). One example being Alinor Crest getting a new door (for X gold/crowns) on the terrace that leads to a master suite. Most of the existing homes already have areas where more could be added.

You mean the personal banker assistant NPC you buy for 5000 crowns?("I use two big storage boxes as a platform to exchange stuff between my characters")
I use the banker for this. Cheaper than the Alinor Townhouse you have and faster.

I got my house for 1m gold, which is cheaper at a 1:300 rate.- which as a bonus can also hold 8 chests.
