It was a horrible idea to have leads drop from dungeons

I'm highly confused by the number of people in this thread who seem to think there is some reason that they MUST have ALL the leads, even the ones that come from content they don't like.

Do you not have enough furniture? What's going on here?

If you don't like fishing, why do you feel compelled to do it anyway just to get a fishing-related lead that commemorates your (non-)dedication to fishing?

    Same with PvP?

It's like saying "How dare ZOS gate achievements behind PvP content/fishing/dungeons! I hate those things! It's not fair!"

Can’t possibly answer for everyone, so just for me - I’m not chasing content I don’t like for furniture, just the mythic items.

If it was just furniture I’d never fish for example. For stranglers, I’m grudgingly doing it.

Must be some Greymoor thing? I'm on PS4 so no GM yet, can someone explain the "lead" referenced?

To begin your search for buried treasure in the Antiquities system, you need to first find a "lead" to where that treasure is. These leads drop from a variety of different gameplay tasks (killing mobs, killing bosses, fishing, thievery, etc)

    Thank you. Sounds interesting.

Its faster as an team, now an healer is best option as you can easy move from pure healer to DD.
Now vet pledges tend to have better players so is often faster and more fun. but puging vet dlc is dicy. Here normal wins out outside of the 3 easiest.

There are definitely leads that drop from trash. I was mostly referring to the Mythic leads that are assigned to specific bosses, typically the last boss in a group content. Most dungeons are pretty easy to solo on normal with a mageblade, that is the point I was making. A pet sorc also works really well. The one you might have issues with is Blackheart with the stun mechanic. I farmed with 1 friend to be safe.

I have 3/6 of the mythics (15 leads total). I got 13/15 faster (combined for all) than either of the fishing leads by themselves. Talk about painful.

the annoying part is... some of the older dungeons require that you wait for npc's to finish talking in order to progress the quest for a skill point. and people farming leads? do NOT wait.

and i'm not talking about vet either, this is NORMAL. NORMAL that is MEANT to allow people to slow down, to learn, to get those quests done.

I understand why people want to make lead farming as efficient as possible. i GET it. I'm farming those right now, and I get that the faster the run goes the more of those i can do in my playtime and the higher my chances to actualy get a lead become (relatively speaking) but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.

we already had end of dungeon kick extended to 2 minutes because quests. IT. WASN'T ENOUGH.

this is why I keep saying that at a minimum, skill points should either be attached to just first time completion of a dungeon (when that achievement pops up) or have a separate solo mode so that people could slow down and actualy DO THE QUESTS AT THEIR PACE (I'm also ok with a combination of both - solo queue for a story quest and skill point in group, so that "there is still incentive to do group quests)

because what we have right now, is just.. to put it mildly NOT ideal and lead chasing only made it worse.

Just try to relax a little and stop being so uptight about rushing through and getting the drop as fast as possible. Use a tank or a healer. Something other than your bury the needle DPS that can nuke the whole dungeon as soon as you enter. You'll be speeding up the queue and newbies will get their experience without feeling like they didn't contribute. Look at it more as doing a good deed and helping them out while you're in the area looking for your own lead.

If you can't even do that much and are totally blinded by the desire to have your mythic item right now this very second, well, there's no helping you because you are part of the problem.

Now cp 810 are rushing through normal dungeons to get leads - for me this is great as i am cp 810 also and have done every dungeon 100 times over... but for new players exploring a game this will create a HORRIBLE dungeon experience and give them a very bad impression of the community as a whole...

    Erhmm .. what?

There's always inexperienced people starting the game and doing dungeons, what's the big difference if they also do it for leads?

It's gonna be like this just for few weeks until majority of ppl get bored with antiquities. With 810CP you can solo most of the basic normal dungeons almost as fast as with random group (I do) and you don't even have to wait for que

Pretty much every dungeon in this game can be soloed on normal with only moderate challenge except for the ones that mechanically require two or more players (looking at you, Direfrost...). Plenty of content creators even have solo builds. You can solo group dungeons if you want to go slow or do the quests with immersion.

You can also get friends to run with. I only jump into PUGs when no one is available and it's only to have the extra dps since I could've just soloed things.

    [snip]

long established people - sure, let them ruin random pugs, even though they can just solo the dungeons, even though they are the ones who likely have been playing long enough to make friends to spam dungeons with at whatever speed they want.

no. its the NEWBIES. the ones that are still figuring things out, the ones that don't have max cp yet, the ones that quite possibly are still looking for a guild with good fit for them. they are the ones that should not be using the SYSTEM THAT IS IN GAME SO THAT THEY COULD USE IT.

just so that some max levels could farm their antiquities leads faster....

there IS a solution to this btw. other then previous ones that I have suggested.

make dungeon leads a guaranteed drop. heck - make them guaranteed drop in vet and 50/50 chance in normal. voila. normals are again for people who are still figuring things out and vets are for the speed runners who have done these dungeons a thousand times and treat everyone else in a group as if they are inconsequential npc's

i'm voting for removing all those "need more people" thing. :D

then we could farm the dungeon leads solo, and dont need to pişş off 3 low-lvl's by rushing and skipping as much as possible.
I also dont see a red line on that theme. They changed whitegoldtower (snake doesnt reset any more when you go to jail) so you can solo this now - but changed direfrost so you are not able to solo it any more because you cant do the switch-trick and need now 2 people to step on the plates.
So is it ok for devs being able to solo it or not? If yes, then just give us an opportunity to handle these mechanics like having a 5 seconds time window like it was already changed in alikr puplic dungeon at the group boss. At least on normal.

I believe the dilemma is when new player gets to vet and doesn't understand what's going on, someone is going to tell them to run normals first, which in this case equates to running behind an 1100 CP stamplar and just looting bodies.

To be fair, it's already like that isn't it? This didn't create a problem, it amplified one.

Just out of curiosity - how much more difficult are normal dungeons compared to the group delves in Craglon? Have fished the dwarwen ebon wolf leads out of Rkhardahrk, Rkundzelft and Mtharnaz solo without much trouble and now I'm kind of wondering if attempting to get the ones from Darkshade Caverns and Volenfell would be a possibility (or if it would be waste of time and buffood).

What's funny is I ran a dungeon just because I was farming gear and got a lead unexpectedly. And that aspect of it did seem fun... an unexpected bonus.

I think for dungeons it is all about respect, which doesn't happen all the time anyway but is what decent players do. Don't queue if you aren't willing to let folks in your group do the quest, learn mechanics, etc. Groups with a specific intent like speed farming should pre form or at least make sure everyone is OK with the approach.

Also agree that "fixing" mechanics so soloing is possible on normal would be nice. I liked trying that as a challenge even before Antiquities.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

blackheart doesn't advance unless you talk to shifty tom, KILL the pirates that show up and then talk to him again.
direfrost, you have to go back to the icy central room to kill the quest bosses that you summon before it lets you progress the quest. crypt of hearts 1 last i checked, requires checking on optional bosses and rooms to progress the quest. Tempest island is horrible with the npc's taking their sweet sweet time to walk over - it also requires that you clear ALL the lamias at the very beginning. Banished Cells 1 require optional bosses that people tend to skip. Darkshade Caverns 1 not only require that you talk to the npc who is chasing original quest giver, but she is also waiting BEHIND optional boss that people skip unless you stealth pull it during trash. ironically from your list, Vollenfel is actualy the one that only has excessive chattiness at the end, with the skeletons and the 2 minute dungeon kick helps with that at least.

a few of the dungeons do advance by area. pretty much all of the DLC ones at least. but a LOT of dungeons do NOT.
