you.. may need anger management. because there are no sounds that would break a headset on their own in this game, which means you broke your own headset. also, unless there is a recent bug or something (which is possible) or you have a particular sensitivity to sounds - that quest should not have been headache inducing.
...to whomever designed the quest for A Melodic Mistake (Morrowind quest)...thanks for giving me a massive headache as well as nearly busting my headphones with your stupid tune.
I know the quest was supposed to be about this never-ending tune from some sort of stupid contraption, but now I'm being forced to spend $200 on another pair of Corsair headphones and wait months for it to arrive, despite the fact I am an Amazon Prime member...and also have a ringing headache to boot.
I guess I should be lucky I have other headsets I can use while I wait for my new headphones to arrive. But still, I think it was fairly obvious whoever was in charge of designing this quest had obviously listened to "Let It Go" one too many times and wanted to top Disney for "Melodies That Make You Want To Punch The Nearest Wall". The only real positive thing to come out of this quest is that I at least avoided another "You have an unused Prime benefit" email from Amazon.
That is all. I will now take my permanent ban from the forums. Lord Arena25 out!

By "break/busted a headset", I mean there is no sound emanating from one side of the headphones. This happened multiple times with Sennheiser headphones, and it's why I switched to Corsair (plus, one of the gaming organizations I follow is sponsored by Corsair). I can't even remember the last time I broke one of my headsets by literally smashing it.
Also, back in the days I had Sennheiser headphones, Kotu Gavas sound has busted my earphones once or twice, due to some high-pitched sound it made (I don't think it makes it anymore though).
if your first reaction was to break your headset, that's your problem. I think you need anger management classes.

That sounds (hehe) like your volume is way too high or something else is breaking your headphones. Or the headphones were just faulty to begin with and died sooner than expected, which is always a possibility even with good brands.
Why are all these people assuming I broke my headphones by smashing them? Where did I say i was actually smashing them? Or are we not reading the posts...again?

Because we can't understand how a game sound could possibly break a headphone.
(combined with the "melodies that make you want to punch a wall" comment)
In other words, you original post wasn't clear, and had hints of violence/anger in it. So some people assumed that's what broke the headphones. (but yeah, it's also a side-effect of just reading the first post, then responding.)

This usually happens with older speakers/audio devices, but sometimes if a sound is too high-pitched/loud/high-tone, it can cause certain wires/components of a audio device to fray/break/catch fire, which can render an device useless. This usually happens with old audio devices when subjected to very loud/high pitched "new sounds", but even newer devices can suffer from this problem.

Cos if we aren't reading the posts fully and understanding them before posting...well, might explain why mods have to always patrol these forums.
After breaking 4 Headsets in two years I figured out it was me. Lets see, Logitech, Corsair, Sennheiser, and another one i don't remember the name of. I bought a $15 headphone stand and my last set have lasted more than a year.
It was placing the headphones on the desk after each use that was stressing the connections in the ear cups.

Edit: Before we go any further, I would like to kindly point out that by "busting a headset", I mean one or both side of the headphones will not produce any audio. I do not mean literally smashing the headset like the stereotypical angry gamer. Anyone saying I literally smashed my headset is assuming things and probably didn't fully read the post before jumping to conclusions.
