There really should have been a lot more Mythics to created unique builds. Ice Mages, Shock Mages, summoning more Sorc pets (but slightly weaker variants), Converting certain abilities to different damage types, creating more build diversity, etc.
So much opportunity with Mythics.

Indeed! When I saw that there were only six I had to do a double-take.
Coding item sets is one of the easiest tasks in the entire game. They already did the hard part implementing the Antiquities feature itself. Brainstormnig and implementing another ~dozen Mythics would have been like a few days of work for one of the combat team guys and a junior programmer.
It’s so strange to see them hype up Mythics so much only to have so few of them. It’s the perfect opportunity to create lots of unique, viable builds based on random themes players like. That’s what a lot of games do.

Its not strange at all. Think about Motifs. Every new Dungeon, DLC and Addon comes with new Motifs, but not all are released at once, the majority of them is released in monthly waves. This would make sense for Mythic items as well. If you would have 10 or 20 Mythics now, ppl would dig them up after 3-4 days and thats it, adding more over time however gets players to always come back to the system.
