It would be different if these were new problems, they arent. Same old ZOS, different day. Playing on PC NA, i actually was able to play for a couple of hours today. Lag spikes, texture problems, load screens that took 3 -5 minutes, terrible desyncs, and quite a few bugs.

It took my wife and I 25 minutes( used food when i left Rimmen as a timer) to load into the Solitude Docks then go to Solitude to pick up Antiquities and get through the courtyard dig. Then port back to the docks to start the actual quest from the bloody nord that took forever to show up. Ive done the antiquities before so i knew where to go and what to do and blew through the conversations.

Solitude was only about as busy as Rimmen, Alinor or Vivec City on an average weeknight. Its not like we were loading into one of the capitals during an undaunted event.

As an ESO plus member i could care less about the lost sub time. What bothers me is the poor quality control that gets worse every chapter. I would have been fine if it took another week or two for Greymoor to drop if that meant a better product. I honestly think that ZOS bites off way more than it can chew with these chapters and then tries to rush to finish them before a deadline and ends up turning out a sloppy product.

I honestly think they should either give themselves a bigger timeline or dial back the chapter ambitions a bit. I was disappointed in what little of Skyrim i saw, this was just the icing on the cake. Skyrim is great looking, but not being playable is a bit of a drawback in an MMO.

I really do appreciate the sentiment Elara however past failures combined with the latest issue just sour the experience.

I love this game otherwise I would have quit ages ago but still things that you love can also be very disappointing at times. This is one of those time. When you pay for a bi-annual subscription and pre-order the new story chapters you'd think you'd be getting a decent product. I realise that this game is mind bogglingly complex but it seems that every step forward is 1 & half back and usually 1 sideways as well. The publisher knew that there would be a huge surge in eager players looking to enjoy the latest content. So why then haven't more servers been allocated to it? I know there's always going to be teething issues with every new update however it seems that the quality control is just not upto scratch.

    It just is so deflating.

that would be like clapping in an airplane to hurray a captain who fulfilled the absolute minimum of his job - namely landing the plane without to break it. unfortunately the ESO captains do not even fulfill the absolute minimum and so they don't deserve any clapping.

These people usually work on the game within the same office. If any need arises they can literally get up and walk over to the other person they need to consult with. I can't even imagine the limitations forced on them having to work on the game from their homes, separated from each other. Skype calls can only do so much, and I'm saying this after having just gotten off a 44 hour week done in just 4 days in a Warehouse, I'm very empathetic of overworked people right now.

Yes I tried to do some PvP the last couple of nights on Saturday and Sunday after work, which is when most everyone has their game time. Campaign was pop locked and the input lag was severe, nearly unplayable, but I'm not going to throw insults at the developers for it. I know it's an issue, it's an issue with high player populations in the same instance, and I know a solution takes ample time (if one can even be found with the architecture this game runs off of). As long as I don't die, I have all the time in the world to wait and this game isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Unless Zenimax just throws their hands up and either concludes support for the game, or announces a better built sequel.

My wife does L&D from her home office for a Fortune 100 company. She builds and maintains training courses as well as runs various educational programs and spends a lot of time in meetings. She has worked from home for 5 years only going into the office ( pre covid) about once every 4-8 weeks for a couple of days.

You can do most office work remotely. You can even do screen shares and entire presentations from home. The problem is self discipline. In order for her to work from home she has a room that is her office only. It is set up as an office. She can work from anywhere in the house and sometimes will. But 95% of the time she "commutes" to her second story office and works all day only leaving to go to the next door bathroom or to get lunch( she even has a Keurig in her office so she dont have to go for coffee). When she is done working for the day she leaves the office and doesnt return again except to do more work.

She took up proper chef style cooking to replace her commute home. This allows her to get out of her "work brain" and into a "home brain". On friday she leaves the office and it will sit untouched until monday morning when she commutes up the stairs. She also has a strict policy of either she is working and at work or home and not working. Otherwise they get blended together and it all starts to become one. It also helps we do not have kids and she really isnt bothered during the day.

Not everyone can work from home. It requires a special level of discipline and the ability to focus. Also as i said our home is relatively quiet and that is important when working from home. Noise is fine when your at work because its work noise. When Bobby is picking on Joey and Spike is barking at them fighting, it can be hard to focus on 2+2 = X little lone checking lines of code or making sure an animation flows nicely.

HOWEVER, you dont push a broken product out the door because your work situation isnt ideal and you need to meet a deadline set by yourself. Push it back two more weeks or more if you need too. But.get.it.right. Because people remember this right here. They remember being frustrated and aggravated and bugs and problems and not being able to play even though they should be able too. They will remember this in 2 years, 4 years maybe 10 years. You know what they will forget about in 2 years? That you pushed the game back another two weeks to make things right. They will only remember a mostly smooth release not that it was two weeks late.

Normally I would agree, if it was just during this launch.

But EU servers have been in shambels for ages now.

They simply do not have the capacity to facilitate EU player numbers.
Hosting server is simply not strong enough and it shows.

It has nothing to do with pandemic or anything else, it has everything to do with poor choice of hosting partner.

"Trust is not granted. It's earned," where the statement is viable in the market place about the quality of the product released or manufactured: consumers trust in the company by the results they deliver; not often the other way around. This is a very common disposition in the MMO community.

Personally, I thought the omission error on their part was funny. How one Boolean and poor diligence can bugger up the whole money making process. Honestly, this occurence happens to be a nice thesis topic example on what not to do for software engineers and software product release reports/articles.

That said. Mistakes happen to the best of us. I think it's funny karma.

I experienced lag trying to log into the game. It's called a login cue.

Than when I was in game, I still had lag issues. I know it's not my PC or connection, it's on their end.

    Show ZOS some love <3

I don't show people my <3 any more. Not since the court order... :p

Just kidding LOL, but yeah, sometimes it doesn't hurt to take a step back from what is all about me me me and try to think about what it might be like for other human beings.

I think the idea that indiscriminate and disproportionate rage is therapeutic is flawed. I understand the theory, that all the pent up stress and frustration about a million totally unrelated things can be channeled into a reaction to one specific thing and bring relief or catharsis to the many things somehow.

Unfortunately at the end of the day the only thing that makes those million other unrelated stressful things better is actions and choices that effect those things specifically in our lives.

Tying a ribbon around a goat and calling it our sins and tossing it off a cliff does not make our sins magically vanish.

Only choices can do that. Personal choices we make about who we are as people every damn day.

if only it happend a couple of times. at one point it has to stop.

I agree! But whilst ZOS are all working at home, and not in their usual ideal environment, we can't expect miracles from them. I'm sure that they are all really stressing right now about this, far more than we are! Maybe with the next update, fine, people can moan if stuff isn't fixed, but the entire world is crazy right now. Things aren't exactly working as they usually would in general. It's not fair for everybody to be bashing them when they are trying their best while not having the resources and work environment that they usually would have.

So whats the excuse for the previous times? Sorry but your argument does not hold water.

How many of you work for big corporations or the gouvernment?
What I ask? Because the thing is, of course, that ZOS isn't one single department with a few people.

We have graphic designers, database adminstrators, marketing guys, community manager, commercial directors and such.
They aren't or operate as a single entity. They may even live on different continents.

I'm sure the only ones to dislike are the commercial guys pulling the strings.
The rest just wants to deliver a good product within the limitations of policy and budget.

For example: I'm sure the community managers would love to give the community a little compensation for all the delays and inconvenience. But then some commercial director shakes his head and points at his beloved crown crates store.

    That's how things work.

I was working from home and it was actually very difficult in a company that is all about communication. I am back at work now, but its a slow process to introduce more people and is still very hard. With a company doing something to this scale.... Wow! Yes, This is 100% difficult for them, whilst working from home.
    [/quote]

I work in a global communications company. We transitioned from supporting millions of people and businesses from offices and Network Operations Centres to working from home without incurring any customer service interruption. We ensured customers were prioritised by ensuring that no changes were made that weren't either a) necessary or b) thoroughly tested.

And I used to work in game design as well.

So while I can understand how this can be difficult, these errors happen far too frequently to be excused let alone loved. Sure I understand the complexity of the work involved but it's no more complex than designing, running, and supporting international communications networks during a time when those networks are essential. I expect better. I am yet to receive it

Yeah I'd like to add that when I'm mad at ZOS, I'm angry at it as a corporate entity and at the peopke calling the shots and making the decisions. I'm pretty sure the devs and the CMs are doing their jobs to the best of their abilities within the limitations put upon them by the Suits. They are not the ones setting the release dates, that is an executive decision and the devs can point out that stuff isn5done yet but if the Suits refuses to extend the date there's nothing they can do.
Same with fixing performance and upgrading hardware, that takes allocation of moneyand resources and that's again an executive decision. If the Suits won't flog out money on it there's only so much they can do.

I'm annoyed at ZOS as an entity, and no I'm ot about to show a corporation any love, and at the people calling the shots, not the rank and file worker who is in all likelihood doing what they can.

    Dear Elara,

Source of the problem isn't `1 more day without Greymoor`.
It's a snowball effect rolling down since quite some time and splashed the ground today with this failed launch.

    I think I can simply order the problems as following;

    1) Communication failures
ZoS Developer team isn't communicating enough with reasons of why they're doing stuff, in-line of what, according to what standards (as they're using this word quite a lot). Their road-map is unclear, what they have in mind is unclear and they love keeping it this way. People hate things they can't predict.

    2) Hypocrisy
    e.g.
They have changed let's say 2 places in-game:
    1) Veteran Asylum Sanctorum +2: Now every new Concentrated Force dropped there won't have unique value, instead XXX. It's fine. But changed the weapons in our inventories too, which we dropped before Greymoor chapter. It is disadvantage for us. But happened.
    2) Veteran Maelstrom Arena: Now every new Crushing Wall has changed too. And we have looted our weapons before Greymoor, but this time they don't change the weapons in our inventories. Because it is to our advantage.

This approach isn't acceptable. Either do both or don't. It's a personal decision of someone in the Developer Team and this approach cannot deserve any respect.

    3) Unending and unfruitful lies:
They have promised us to eliminate or reduce in-game lags, desyncs, FPS spikes, and bugs. We have re-downloaded the whole game for this. The result was only regret & disappointment. Since I joined this game nearly 8-9 months ago, I have seen 3-4 updates which `Fixing` exactly the same things all over again. It's either game is dead, or the team is lying.

    4) Dishonesty:
    e.g.
    Currently Followed Policy
    > Buff A,B,C,D by 50%-70% (they're aware and noting this to be fixed 2 patches later)
    1 month later:
    > Buff E,F,G,H by 50%-70%
    2 months later:
    > Hammer A,B,C,D by 50/70%
    1.5 months later:
    > Buff P,N,R,T by 50-70%
    1.5 months later:
    > Hammer E,F,G,H by 50-70%
    ...
    ...
    and so on.

ESO Combat Team meeting with the Managing Board:
    > Yes Sir, we're constantly working & keeping up to date in accordance with the community to make sure incomes are stable & increasing.

    Fact:
    > They're actually creating their very own job need to secure their very own future to be able to tell "there is a roadmap" to higher echelons.
    > The only real workers are "Lore team, dungeon designers, text-writers, community managers" etc.

    The Combat Team:
    > There is no such approach called "Buff 50% to Nerf 50% 2 months later" it's not tweaking. It's destruction. Its proof of they doesn't have any idea over what they are simply doing, proof of "No vision" at all.
    > There is a somehow ticking combat system, more or less satisfying. Fine-tune it, 5-10-15% and within 6-7 months you can find a sweet spot of skills/abilities in harmony.

    5) And finally, the epic launch failure with Greymoor, where people were whining in the forums since the first day about their unhappiness with many changes included, it's announced but no-one cared at all.
    ----

And Forum Moderators are removing messages secretly from all over the places. There is heavy censorship here. They want us to write all this on Twitter I think after tagging all devs & company owners and start a Mexican wave there. Do not remove messages like this please. It's uncivil and autocratic.

I can count more, but I will not bother myself. I just wanted to say it's not `late launch` that raging people.

    Sincerely!

Yup this right here about sums it up.
